If you are interested in BAXTER or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. Meet Baxter 🐾 Baxter is a sweet, affectionate boy who takes his job as a professional snuggler very seriously! Give him some attention and he’ll happily soak it all up. And if you stop petting him before he’s ready, don’t be surprised if he gently paws at you to let you know he’s not finished yet. ❤️ Baxter loves being outside, enjoying tasty treats, and having a good chew toy nearby. He’s also a great little travel buddy who rides nicely in the car and walks well on a leash. Baxter enjoys the company of other dogs, but he’s just as happy hanging out with his people. He would do best in a home with another friendly dog to keep him company and help him feel comfortable. When meeting new people, Baxter can be a little timid at first, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up. Once he does, his affectionate personality really shines! Baxter is crate-trained and stays comfortably crated when his people are away. He’s a loving, easygoing companion who would make a wonderful addition to a family looking for a loyal cuddle buddy. Baxter’s favorites: 🐶 Other dogs ❤️ Snuggling and being petted 🌳 Spending time outside 🦴 Chew toys & treats 🚗 Car rides 🐾 Leash walks If you’re looking for a sweet boy who will happily be your shadow—and remind you when it’s time for more pets—Baxter may be your guy! His $550 adoption fee covers his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the midwest. For an adoption application on BAXTER click here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Story
PLEASE NOTE: PIGLET IS NOT PART OF THE L.E.A.R.N. PROGRAM Piglet is located in INDIANA and is being cross-posted by L.E.A.R.N. as a courtesy to help him find the right home. He is currently in the care of PAAIN, an organization serving Batesville, Indiana, and the surrounding area. Piglet is 3-4 years old, has a shorter, stockier build and looks very similar to an English Lab. His previous owner was his only owner and, after the two had been living in a car for several weeks, voluntarily surrendered Piglet to PAAIN for his health and well-being. PAAIN has been caring for him since May 16, 2026. Piglet is primarily housed in a small shelter setting but has been spending time in a temporary foster home, where he is doing much better. He is very food-motivated, eager to please, and willing to learn. He listens well when corrected and has already made wonderful progress. Because Piglet spent much of his life with very little structure, he will need a home committed to continuing his training, especially with leash walking and basic manners. He is learning quickly and does very well once he understands what is expected of him. Piglet is very good with other dogs and cats and would especially love having a canine companion in his new home. He has also done well with a 5-year-old child, but because he is still learning manners, he could accidentally knock over a smaller child. Piglet did come into care with some separation anxiety, but he has been making tremendous progress in this area. He is currently attending "Boot Camp," where he is receiving additional training, structure, and guidance, and his separation anxiety has improved significantly. He is learning to remain calm and comfortable in his kennel and is becoming more confident with time. Having another dog around also seems to help him feel secure, which is one of the reasons we feel he would thrive in a home with a canine companion. Piglet has made tremendous progress over the last few weeks, and his potential is easy to see. His ideal home would have another dog and an adopter who can provide consistent training, structure, and patience. Piglet really is a very good boy once he understands the rules. He is eager, capable, and ready to keep learning with someone willing to give him that opportunity. Again, Piglet is NOT a L.E.A.R.N. dog. He is located in INDIANA and is being cross-posted by L.E.A.R.N. to help PAAIN find him the right home. If you are interested in Piglet, please email: info@paain.org or call: (812) 528-7478 Facebook: PAAIN Please visit our website https://labadoption.org/ to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and fill out an application.

Story
Meet Beau 🐾 Beau is a sweet, lovable Lab/Pit mix who’s estimated to be around a year old. He has the cutest face and an even sweeter personality to match. Beau is incredibly affectionate and loves being around people—he truly just wants to be loved. His story is a special one. Beau was found in the woods right before the February ice storm, severely underweight and very shy. With time, care, and patience, he has completely blossomed into a strong, healthy, and happy dog. Now, Beau is playful, full of life, and great with kids. He’s currently living with a foster family that has three other dogs, and he gets along well with them. While he hasn’t been tested with cats yet, he has shown zero signs of aggression and has a gentle, loving nature. One of Beau’s cutest traits? He gives hugs! He’ll wrap his front legs around you just to soak up some love. He also knows how to sit and is eager to please. Beau is ready to find a forever home where he can continue to thrive and share all the love he has to give. 💛
