Story
Milo is a 3 yr old Chocolate Lab mix. We received him from a friend when their dog had puppies, so, we are the only family he has known. He needs a lot of attention, and with an increase in our busy schedules, we are unable to keep up with the attention he needs and deserves. I would like to see him go to a loving family that has a big yard or field or farm where he could run. He is very energetic and loves to play and cuddle. He loves treats and has never been fed from the table. He does know sit and down and would be easy to train. He has been crate trained and other than normal male marking because he isn’t neutered, he does not use the bathroom in the house.

Story
Hi I'm Roscoe! Aside from being impressed with how handsome I am, I bet you're wondering what my name means - well, here's what that Gooble searchie thing says: "Roscoe is a popular name for dogs, as it reflects a loyal and devoted personality. This name is often associated with a strong bond between owner and pet, and is perfect for a dog that loves to be around its owner. The name Roscoe is also associated with intelligence and wit." How about that - that's pretty spot on description for what a great guy I am! And to go along with all that, I'm a healthy and energetic year and a half old 50 pound bundle of pure playfulness! I haven't quite mastered how to control all of my energy just yet, but I'm working really hard learning from the Ark volunteers! I'd love to have a family who can work with me to help me keep learning and give me lots of playtime too! *The Adoption fee for Roscoe is reduced/covered by adoption sponsorship donations When I arrived at the Ark, we played the 'guess what breed I am' game, the most guesses were that I'm a Black Lab mix, but I know that's just a guess - I know what I am, I'm a Purebred Mix-Breed!! **Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. We do require a secure fenced-in yard to adopt our larger dogs.. September 7, 2024, 10:05 am

Story
Meet Bess! Bess is a yellow, fifty-five-pound, estimated at 2-3-years-old. She can stand to gain a few pounds. Bess was rescued just in time before she was scheduled for her demise at a local shelter. She takes time to warm up getting around new environments but once she knows no harm will come to her, she is fine. Bess is doing good around her female fur foster sibling who is approximately her size. She's been introduced to a small dog and did fine. We are not sure about cats. She is adjusting to being inside a home and thus far she has done well with her potty outside and walking on a leash. She knows to sit when asked or lay down she would do well with additional obedience training. She is food-motivated. She will go in a crate with the door open but isn’t fond of being locked up in one for any length of time. It appears someone may have kept her in one entirely too long, but fine for short periods. She will require a home where someone is there most days or works from home unless she gets to go to doggy daycare. She enjoys a fenced-in yard and does require one. If only dogs could talk, we would know their entire story. Sometimes they do tell us in their way. Bess rides fine in a vehicle but is anxious around them, so definitely would need time to adjust. It appears she may have had several litters of puppies at one point. After leaving the shelter, she went straight to the Vet Clinic to get medically vetted and there they noticed a slight limp on the right-side front leg after getting X-rayed, appears she has dysplasia and arthritis on her right elbow possibly an old injury mended on its own. We started her on a good supplement, and she seems to get around fine. She got to go with her foster mom to work and did very well as a doggie co-worker and met a few people that she did great around. To adopt Bess please go to our website to start the adoption process https://www.southernskiesrescue.org/adoption-application Bess is now fully medically vetted; spayed, up-to-date on all vaccines, heartworm tested negative and placed on prevention plus microchipped.

Story
Meet Hank! Hank is a stunningly gorgeous 90-pound, 2.5-year-old, Charcoal full-bred Labrador Retriever born 4/13/22. We are rehoming Hank due to his family’s life-threating illness and difficulties with providing Hank the attention and time he deserves. Hank is a wonderful loving boy who does have energy, so he not only requires a family willing to give him the attention he deserves but also plenty of exercise daily with consistency. He will require a large fenced-in yard for the days his family wishes to play fetch with Hank and sunbathe. Hank is housebroken and crate-trained although has spent way too much time in one and prefers not to. He knows a few cues like sit and come and would benefit from additional obedience training. The ideal family will understand labradors and what they require with training; exercise and consistency. Hank is good with other dogs and cats. He has lived with other dogs and feeds separately. Hank does like to get the most attention, so would do fine in a household as an only dog or with another dog. He has lived with cats, so he is good with them and can go to a home with cats. He is fine around children, however, due to his size he can easily be too much for young children so best with nine and up. He is used to going on walks, enjoys playing fetch, and has a big loving demeanor and heart! Hank would love a home where he could pal around with someone all the time without having to be crated. To adopt this beautiful and loving boy please go to our website to complete our pre-adoption application https://www.southernskiesrescue.org/adoption-application Hank is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm tested negative on monthly prevention, and microchipped.

Story
Meet Boo! The sweetest boy ever, who found himself waiting for a human whisking by him to notice he was there and homeless. Luckily, he was spotted by a dog lover who happened to be there to report the news. We got a call, and the rest is history. Boo is a fabulous boy that is quiet, reserved, and easily got into our routine. He is crate and potty-trained. He knows sit and treat motivated so he can easily be trained. He enjoys a fenced-in yard to roam around in and to also do his business. He shows no signs of any aggression whatsoever and is just a very sweet and loving boy! Boo would LOVE a snuggle buddy and deserves that one-on-one affection. After all, he has been through so very much. Boo came to us with scratches all over his face. He is not a fighter and is a total LOVER, so those scratches weren’t from a fight. More than likely brush or fence. If you wish to adopt Boo please go to our website to complete our pre-adoption application https://www.southernskiesrescue.org/adoption-application Boo is now fully medically vetted; neutered, up-to-date on all vaccines, and heartworm negative plus microchipped.

Story
Meet Reno we believe a Lab mix! What a handsome devil this boy is! His eyes are dreamy! He is not only stunning; he is quiet, affectionate, playful, and silly! He rarely speaks his mind, but on occasion, you may hear a bark. He is extremely intelligent. We had found Reno a home after one year of being in our program sadly Reno came back to us four months later after his dad got a terminal diagnosis and would be unable to take care of him. We have to wait sometime, but it's time for Reno to find a forever home. Reno is estimated at approx., 4 years old and slightly over 65. Reno does extremely well in a home; housebroken and crate trained. He loves to lay on a bed or couch, is extremely affectionate, and enjoys being next to his person. He loves bully sticks and treats. He is a little stubborn when called if he is outside enjoying his fenced-in yard on a great day. Overall is a wonderful boy that deserves a happy life! He rides well in a vehicle and pulls slightly on a leash, but he is mindful you are on the other end of the lead, so does great, but strong. He appears to do fine with other dogs and would be good around older kids. Overall, we give Reno two thumbs up! Reno has been fully medically vetted; neutered, up-to-date, tested negative for heartworms placed on prevention plus microchipped.
