Story
Cowboy came to us all the way from Mississippi. I ventured out east to work with one of our colleagues(Sky), and on our way home from delivering a family of pups to their foster, we happened upon 92 dogs, all chained to various cars, trailers and some in brokedown kennel runs, on a property off the side of the freeway. Cowboy was the first dog we saw as we pulled onto the property. He was chained to a trailer, and it was obvious his permanent home had been the hole he dug under the trailer. Out of 92 dogs, the owner of the property said Cowboy would probably be the only dog we wouldn’t be able to take, due to him being "human-aggressive". Two weeks later when we came back with Second Chances NY Rescue and a crew of 15 people to remove all the dogs, we figured out a way to make it work. Once I got Cowboy off the chain he had lived on for 7 years, I had a different dog in front of me. We made the trek back to AZ, and Cowboy is EASILY the happiest dog I have ever met! Every day he wakes up, bouncing and prancing like “Omg, it’s you! I can’t believe I get to see you again!!!” Cowboy would do best with someone who enjoys being active! He LOVES to run next to us on the bike, the skateboard, and is an all-star at the slatmill! I would say he’s making up for lost time! He would do best with female dogs his size, but no cats. Cowboy is shy, sweet, and has a very forgiving heart. Interested in adopting Cow? Fill out an application here: https://www.handoverrover.org/adoptionapplication

LONG TIMER CRUSH is STILL WAITING TO FIND HIS FUREVER FAMILY Crush is a 3 year old lab mix. He'd thrive in an environment with structure and exercise! His ideal adopter is experienced, and has other pups, because Crush LOVES dogs. Dog friendly! Cat friendly! Extremely smart! May be slow to warm up and solicit affection- but super loving once he trusts. Loves water, hiking, and running! Crush has an amazing foster, but it's not his furever. He is still looking for his perfect match! Crush needs humans who will be patient and firm. Hes an amazing dog once he settles into his environment and understands the boundaries in the home. Hi there! I'm Kano!Although my past is unknown, my future is bright! I'm looking for a patient family who will support me in the beginning steps of my healing journey! I am a gentle boy who needs a quiet and cozy home where I can feel confident enough to come out of my shell. I don't mind other dogs as long as they are respectful! I would prefer a home with only adult or older children who can understand my needs. If you are patient, understanding, and gentle with me, I will blossom and become the best companion you could ever ask for. Come and meet me today!**Thanks to State Farm Agent Tom Schott, my adoption fee has been sponsored, which means you can take me home for FREE!**No appointment necessary!Meet me at AAWL's Main Shelter!25 N. 40th StPhoenix AZ 85034602-273-6852Adoption Hours:Monday - ClosedTuesday - Friday & Sunday - 11:30am - 6:00pmSaturday - 10:30am - 6:00pm.AAWL requires that all adopted dogs leave with a leash and collar and all cats leave in a carrier.
