Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. WIZ was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024.  Wiz is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of 27 November 2023 and in April 2024 weighed of 20 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. Wiz has a hunchback and whilst at the shelter did have an orthopedic examination where the veterinarian determined and noted on his medical paperwork "hunched back but othro exam was normal". Whilst being at the rescue he is happy, active and shows no sign of discomfort or pain whilst he is running and playing with the other pups. This sweet boy is still a young pup and so we are looking for families who understand that puppies are a lot of work and need lots of socializing, training, structure and routine. WIZ is such a gentle soul, he can be playful and boisterous one minute and then chilled and relaxing the next. He likes to wrestle and play with his puppy kennel mates, but also is in the middle of the puppy-pile when it is nap time. He will sneak into the other kennel and give me those puppy eyes to give him some sneaky cuddles and ear scratches which just make him melt into my arms - so adorable. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and  photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Wiz is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a  reduced adoption  fee of $550. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - We do not have cats in the kennels and are not able to say how our dogs are with cats. Story
Welcome Zara to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 1-year old Lab mix dog. She is about 40 pounds and looks like a good weight. She is decent on the leash and good with other dogs. She does do her business outside on a schedule here at the rescue. She is a little shy and when scared has the reflex to run. She would do best with a person or family that is more of a family that likes time at home and isn’t the type that has lots of social gatherings and wants their dog to go many places like Starbucks etc. She would be perfectly content being a companion for a more stay home family. She would be fine with children or a cat. She was with Sam here at the rescue which is the Rescue cat. She is fully vaccinated, spayed and healthy and ready for her forever home. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. She is currently in Texas at the CCPAL Rescue. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Picasso to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 2 year old Lab/Rottie or Shepherd mix. He is 2 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. He is good on a leash and friendly with other dogs. He loves water and loves to play in the hose water when the kennel is being cleaned. He loves his kennel and will stay in it even when the door is open. He met Apple and Serenity while on leash and was not leash reactive. He was all smiles and tails wagging. He is vaccinated and neutered and looking for his forever home. He would be fine as a family pet. We like the children to be 8 or older. The nice thing about an adult dog is their personality is formed and you know what you are getting. He has some skills like kennel training and leash walking. We know he isn’t leash reactive and was friendly when meeting new dogs. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Story
Welcome Cowboy to CCPAL Foster Program. Cowboy is an 6-month old pup. He has an adorable and large head. I call these man dogs because my husband loves them. He weighs about 37 pounds now but we think will be 50 full grown. He is a Lab/Staffie or Pittien or maybe Rottie is our guess. He does know the sit command and is attentive when you are directing him. He has a nice amount of attention and it is not too short but he can hold it while you work with him. He is adorable, affectionate and has the cute wrinkles on his forehead that make him look concerned. He has brown eyes and a little white patch on his chin that look like a milk beard. He is the typical puppy and is energetic, inquisitive and in need of direction. He is willing to learn and takes direction well. He already knows the sit command. He has a lower or shorter coat and not a big shedding dog. He would be great for an active outdoorsy type family. Now he will settle down and his energy is not over the top. It is a good amount of energy for an 8-month old puppy. He is getting his vaccinations and will be neutered soon and ready for his forever home. He is good in car rides, good with cats and decent on a leash. He is fine in a crate and moderately vocal and will use his voice to get attention. He would be fine with children. He is not overly mouthy. We like the children to be 8 or older. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Welcome Petey to CCPAL Foster Program. He is a 6-month old Lab/Black Mouth Cur puppy. He weighs about 45 pounds and is a wonderful puppy. His foster mom has enrolled him in doggy daycare and he is wonderful in daycare. He gets along great with other dogs. He is in foster care with cats and all his time around them is supervised. He has done fine with the cats. He is also a part of a training group and works to learn the basic commands. He is potty trained, good on a leash, doesn’t jump up, knows sit and is good in a crate. This puppy is very well rounded. He naturally bonds deep to his family and may be protective of his family. He is very very friendly to strangers and takes direction easily and well. He has a great attention span. He will make some lucky family a great companion. He would be best with a more active family over a couch potato type. He would be great with another dog or he could go as an only pup. He does love play time with other dogs. He would be a great pup with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can also work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Story
Lacey is an extremely loyal & loving dog. She is very affectionate & sweet and she absolutely loves other dogs. The best fit for her would be a home with another dog/dogs for her to play with. Lacey is very active, loves to play, walk and be outside to run around. She would love a home with a backyard to run around. Lacey is a rescue dog so she has separation anxiety when left alone. She does great if left with other dogs as she does great at doggy daycare. She is scared of little kids so preferably not at a home with little kids. I am looking to rehome my sweet girl to another loving home due to my living situation.

Story
My pet is 11months I acquired my pet from New London I rescued him from an owner that could not keep him. What I am looking for in a new home is a family for him a house with space he can roam freely in and run. People who who care to make him smile daily and make sure he is healthy. August is affectionate and VERY playful get it right and he’ll play dead with you! He gets attached and is loyal he responds to “August” or a clicker and he’ll bark at you if you suddenly ignore him during play time (it’s quite funny XD) one other thing about August he was involved in a car accident he crossed the street and got bumped with the car beginning of September. Left rear suffered a fractured pelvis and was on gabapentin and codeine. He walks and runs.
