Story
**Meet Maple 🖤** Maple is a beautiful black Lab mix who is approximately 2 years old. Through no fault of her own, she found herself sitting in a crowded shelter, confused and wondering why the only life she had ever known suddenly disappeared. Maple spent her entire life on a farm alongside her brother. One day, while they were outside playing, her brother chased and killed a chicken. While Maple never participated, the decision was made that both dogs had to go. Just like that, she was taken to a shelter and left behind. For a dog who only ever knew her home and family, the shelter was a frightening place. Maple couldn't understand why she was there. She had done nothing wrong. Yet because of someone else's actions, she ended up at a full shelter where dogs are euthanized simply because there isn't enough space. When we visited the shelter to rescue another dog, we noticed Maple quietly sitting beside her kennel door. She wasn't barking, jumping, or demanding attention. She simply sat there politely, hoping someone would see her. We couldn't leave her behind. Since entering foster care, Maple has shown herself to be a sweet, gentle soul. She is still decompressing and learning that she is safe, so she can be a little shy at first. Once she feels comfortable, her loving personality begins to shine through. Because of her shy nature, Maple would do best in a home without very young children under the age of five. However, she interacted with patience and love with a 7-year-old temporary foster sibling when entering rescue. She also appears to be dog-friendly. Maple isn't asking for much—just a family willing to give her the second chance she deserves. She has already lost everything she knew once. Now she's hoping to find a forever home where she'll never have to wonder why she was left behind again. Could Maple be the missing piece of your family?

Story
Sammy is a smart, energetic, and loving dog who is looking for a new home where she can thrive. She loves long walks, running in the backyard, and chasing squirrels. She is house-trained, knows many commands, has good recall, and is generally quiet, only barking when someone comes to the door. Sammy has lived with a family and has done well with routine and exercise. She enjoys belly rubs and attention from people she knows, but is also very independent. She has also done well at doggie daycare and gets along with some dogs, though she can be selective and may do best as the only pet or with a calm, compatible dog. Sammy does need a home without small children. She can be reactive toward dogs that approach her aggressively. She is up to date on all vaccinations and in good health, with only a sensitivity to dairy worth noting. She may need some time to decompress in a new home, but she has shown time and again that she's capable of trust and growth. Sammy's family loves her deeply and is making this decision with her best interests at heart. She deserves a calm, stable environment where she can feel safe — and with the right fit, she'll thrive. Story
Gordy (Ace) is described as a social butterfly, curious active and playful boy. He likes agility, car rides, digging, fetch, running, toys, tugging and walks who has a HIGH activity level and high vocalization level. He rings a bell to let you know he has to go potty and pulls on the leash due to how excitable he gets. He is afraid of loud noises; he barks at every rocket launch. No senior homes.

Story
Finn and his three siblings were surrendered to a crowded, high-intake shelter. His siblings were outgoing, happy, and quickly caught the attention of another rescue. They all left together... but Finn was left behind. At just 8 months old, Finn was terrified. The shelter was overwhelming, and he completely shut down. But that's not who Finn really is. Every day, this handsome boy grows a little braver. He's learning that people can be kind, that soft beds are safe, and that life doesn't have to be scary. As his confidence grows, we're getting to see the sweet, gentle, happy puppy that was hiding underneath all that fear. Finn is dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and absolutely loves having other animals around to help show him the ropes. He's still shy when meeting new people, so he'll need a patient family willing to let him settle in at his own pace. Give him a little time, and you'll watch him blossom into the wonderful companion we know he's meant to be. Finn is approximately 8 months old, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Finn has already overcome so much. Now all he needs is someone who will see past his timid first impression and give him the chance his siblings received. Could you be the family that finally shows Finn what forever feels like?

Story
Meet Kiara! 🐾Some dogs have Labrador looks and Labrador personalities. Kiara got the Labrador looks... but we're pretty sure her personality came straight from the Husky factory. She's smart, goofy, energetic, and has a way of making even ordinary days a little more fun.Just over a year old, Kiara recently came to H.A.L.O. through no fault of her own after her owner's health issues and allergies made it impossible to keep her. She spent her early months as an indoor family dog, but as she got older she was mostly kept outdoors. Despite all the changes, she's taken everything in stride and is still the same happy, affectionate girl who loves everyone she meets.Kiara is crate trained, housetrained, knows her name, and responds to basic commands. She loves running, playing with toys, learning new things, and will never turn down a treat—especially if it's boiled chicken! She's the kind of dog who will do best with an active family that can give her plenty of exercise, continued training, and lots of ways to keep her busy. She gets along well with other dogs and has lived with cats before, though we'd recommend slow introductions since she sometimes thinks cats are inviting her to a game of chase. While she's lived with children before and enjoys being part of a family, we've noticed that she can be protective of her toys (they're her most prized possessions!), so we think she'd be happiest in a home with children 8 years and older who can respect her space. If you're looking for a dog that's equal parts adventure buddy, cuddle bug, and class clown, Kiara might just be your perfect match. She has so much love to give—she's just waiting for the right family to share it with.Requirements: Martingale Collar; Children 8yrs+ (due to jumpiness/toy guarding)All of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Our adoption fee helps cover this cost.
