Story
**Meet Maple 🖤** Maple is a beautiful black Lab mix who is approximately 2 years old. Through no fault of her own, she found herself sitting in a crowded shelter, confused and wondering why the only life she had ever known suddenly disappeared. Maple spent her entire life on a farm alongside her brother. One day, while they were outside playing, her brother chased and killed a chicken. While Maple never participated, the decision was made that both dogs had to go. Just like that, she was taken to a shelter and left behind. For a dog who only ever knew her home and family, the shelter was a frightening place. Maple couldn't understand why she was there. She had done nothing wrong. Yet because of someone else's actions, she ended up at a full shelter where dogs are euthanized simply because there isn't enough space. When we visited the shelter to rescue another dog, we noticed Maple quietly sitting beside her kennel door. She wasn't barking, jumping, or demanding attention. She simply sat there politely, hoping someone would see her. We couldn't leave her behind. Since entering foster care, Maple has shown herself to be a sweet, gentle soul. She is still decompressing and learning that she is safe, so she can be a little shy at first. Once she feels comfortable, her loving personality begins to shine through. Because of her shy nature, Maple would do best in a home without very young children under the age of five. However, she interacted with patience and love with a 7-year-old temporary foster sibling when entering rescue. She also appears to be dog-friendly. Maple isn't asking for much—just a family willing to give her the second chance she deserves. She has already lost everything she knew once. Now she's hoping to find a forever home where she'll never have to wonder why she was left behind again. Could Maple be the missing piece of your family?

Story
Sammy is a smart, energetic, and loving dog who is looking for a new home where she can thrive. She loves long walks, running in the backyard, and chasing squirrels. She is house-trained, knows many commands, has good recall, and is generally quiet, only barking when someone comes to the door. Sammy has lived with a family and has done well with routine and exercise. She enjoys belly rubs and attention from people she knows, but is also very independent. She has also done well at doggie daycare and gets along with some dogs, though she can be selective and may do best as the only pet or with a calm, compatible dog. Sammy does need a home without small children. She can be reactive toward dogs that approach her aggressively. She is up to date on all vaccinations and in good health, with only a sensitivity to dairy worth noting. She may need some time to decompress in a new home, but she has shown time and again that she's capable of trust and growth. Sammy's family loves her deeply and is making this decision with her best interests at heart. She deserves a calm, stable environment where she can feel safe — and with the right fit, she'll thrive. If interested in Sammy please email us at hopeforbrevard@gmail.com or fill out an application at hopeforbrevard.com June 27, 2026, 3:50 pm

Good with kids, strangers, and male dogs. Does sometimes bark at other female dogs. She grazes all day but food is offered 2x a day and left out. She is agile, likes walks, runs, and does fine home alone. She responds well to her name but does not always come when called. She is a playful, social butterfly with a mellow side.
