Can't get him to the vet for the others.

Auggie is an adult Chocolate Lab (born 2020).  He is a gentle giant who has no idea that he's a big dog.  He gets along with older children very well, but hasn't been around younger children or cats.  Auggie is housebroken and crate trained.   He knows some commands and fetches.  He tends to bark at times and will let you know how he feels about something. Auggie is very protective of his food and tends to be reactive toward other dogs, so he'll need to be the only dog in his new home.  He would benefit from having his own personal space for dining so he feels safe at meal time.   The perfect home for Auggie would be a calm, structured environment living with someone who has experience with large breed dogs and can give him time, attention and consistency.  He should be the only dog in the home. Auggie will need a fenced yard because he will go out on his own to explore if he sees an open gate or door.  He has always returned on his own and is doing better about following recall commands.    The suggested adoption donation for Auggie is $375 which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Adoptions for Auggie are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Story
Kevin is a Lab/Border Collie mix, born in 2021.  The perfect home for Kevin would be with someone who can give him daily exercise and stiumlation.  He needs a fenced yard with room to explore and lounge.  Kevin is a very smart dog and enjoys being challenged with different activities.  He is okay with kids, he would be better off in a home with no young kids (age 6+ would be okay).  Other dogs might be okay, but the first introduction would need to be slow. Kevin is very well house trained.  He participated in a two-week obedience stay and learned a lot!  He knows how to sit, lay down, place and stay (depending on the situation).  Kevin tends to bark sometimes - specifically more protective if someone comes to the door or is outside the house.  He will also bark if he sees something in the back yard and wants to go out.  Kevin has been a little reactive to men, but should warm up if he gets to know someone. Meet Maverick, a Lab mix, born Jan 2020.  Maverick is looking for a quiet and consistent place to call home.  He is a little unsure of males and would do better with a female person and a female dog friend.  Maverick prefers to have another dog or cat around the house.  Maverick enjoys being active and needs a fenced back yard with at least a 6 foot fence and room to play with his jolly ball.  He is not a fan of sharing his toys and will need a quiet place by himself to eat meals.  He is crate trained, but would enjoy it if you work from home or don't leave him alone more than 6 hours.  Maverick is a nervous guy and will need some time to adjust to new people and a new environment.  Once he get to knows you, he will enjoy snuggles on the couch! Nellie is a mix of Lab, Coonhound and Staffy. She was born in January 2023. She's become stressed lately around other smaller dogs and should be the only dog in the home.  We're not sure how she would do around cats.  Nellie is house trained, crate trained and fetches. She is leash trained and walks great.  She is kenneled at night and when her people are gone.  She's had some training to figure out how to get along with the other dogs and she was fine during class, but stressed again at home.  Nellie also knows some commands.  Nellie might be a little shy at first, but she is friendly with strangers and kids of all ages.  Nellie is very smart.
