Meet Ella!! Ella is a 17 week old lab mix whose came to foster after being abandoned. She is the sweetest little thing her foster family has ever met. Shes adjusted well to the northern cold and is learning all the puppy things. She is a huge cuddle bug and is always looking for a lap to claim as her own. Her favorite toys include the ever elusive sticks in the yard and anything her brother Koe has. Ella is Koe's little shadow and loves to be anywhere he is. Story
We have a very special dog for you to meet. His name isn't unique or outstanding but his story and his personality certainly are! This is Buddy. Buddy arrived into foster care 12/7/24. No, thats not a typo. Buddy has been in foster care for over a year. He was 6mo old when we got him and sadly, Buddy had Anaplasmosis. Anaplasmosis; also known as tick borne disease; caused Buddy to have dangerously low platelet counts. He was one of those special babies we just wanted to wrap in bubble wrap to keep him safe but Buddy had other plans. He wanted to dog. He wanted to play. He wanted to run with his foster siblings. Carefully and under the very watchful eye of his foster mom; he did! Buddy got to be a dog. Buddy has fought to get healthy for a year. A year of prednisone and sometimes other meds when he had complications to be healthy enough to safely neuter and live a normal life. Buddy WON!! He took his meds like a champ and he learned every day! We are ecstatic to say Buddy is finally healthy! His blood counts have held without the meds!! On the outside he looks like a normal dog. Ok, maybe a little chunky but prednisone does that. On the inside he's steel from fighting his hard won battle. Buddy is officially ready to find his forever!! Here's what's most important to know about Buddy's future forever home. He's a very determined boy who needs a home that can not only set but maintain boundaries!! This is non-negotiable for him. He's a big boy and sometimes stubborn. Buddy is good with other dogs of all sizes. Buddy is very gentle when taking treats from children, when hes told to and his boundaries are in place. Cats are a hard no. Buddy is house trained and pretty good on a leash. He does still pull but he didn't get much practice as a pup because of his health issues. It was to risky to expose him to potential bites ect. When Buddy came to us his counts were so low that trimming a nail to short could be life threatening so he wasn't taken for many walks. He will need practice. Buddy is an amazing dog and has fought so hard to get to this point. He deserves the world!! Buddy does get along easier and faster with women than men but he loves everyone. Buddy is a special case. But he will forever be your Buddy if you let him.

Story
Would you like to have a sweet companion always by your side who likes to give kisses?   Shadow is an affectionate dog (born 2021) looking for a new home through no fault of his own.   He is calm and gentle and has done well with all people he's met.  Shadow is very strong, but not in an aggressive way, and will bark at unknown dogs and people until he's introduced to them.  He is house broken and knows some commands.  The perfect home will have a fenced in yard because he loves to play fetch!  He also needs to be with people who really want a constant companion and a loving and loyal dog.   The suggested adoption donation for Shadow is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2541086##
