Story
?? Daphne headed north… but Velma is still waiting in NOLA. ??Velma and her sister, Daphne, hold a bittersweet little piece of Zeus’ Rescues history — they were the final two dogs ever dumped over the fence at our old Napoleon location before we closed that chapter, tore down the fence, and moved to Freret.Well, Daphne recently got her ticket out! She hopped on a transport up North, where she’ll have a new opportunity to find her forever home. But Velma is still here in New Orleans, wondering when it will be her turn.At just 1.5 years old, Velma has already had enough uncertainty for one little lifetime. She’s ready to trade being left behind for being chosen. And this girl is SO ready.?? Dog friendly and would love a canine buddy?? Equal parts playful and loving?? A loyal sidekick with a heart of gold?? Always up for an adventure?? Equally happy settling in for couch cuddles?? Professional shadow and full-time best friendVelma is also ALL young dog. She’s happy, energetic, playful and sometimes a little rambunctious because apparently no one has informed her that she isn’t a tiny puppy anymore. ??Because of her enthusiasm for life, Velma would do best in a home with older children who won’t mind her exuberant personality and can keep up with her. She’s sweet, resilient, dog friendly and still ridiculously optimistic about humans despite the way her story started. Her sister has moved on to her next chapter. Now we need to make sure Velma doesn’t get forgotten. She doesn’t need a transport ticket. She needs a HOME.A couch. A person. Maybe a dog sibling. A family. Someone who looks at that face and says, “Yep. You’re coming home with me.”Velma’s past started with someone leaving her behind.Let’s make sure her future starts with someone choosing her. ??Apply to adopt or foster Velma at ZeusRescues.org.Please share and help us find Velma her people! Thanks!Michelle#zeusrescues

Story
Some stories deserve a second chapter.Back in 2023, a litter of puppies we named our Little Women was abandoned at our front door. Tiny, scared, and completely dependent on strangers, they had no idea their lives were about to change. One by one, they all found loving homes.Beth did too.For the last few years, she`s been loved and cared for, but through no fault of her own, she has found herself back with us. And while we`re grateful she`s safe, it`s heartbreaking to see such a gentle soul trying to figure out why her world changed again.Beth is a shy girl. She isn`t the dog who will barrel into your lap five minutes after meeting you. She takes her time. She watches. She learns. And that`s exactly why we think her perfect home includes another confident, friendly dog.Put Beth in playgroup, and it`s like watching a different dog emerge. She`s an absolute star. She follows the other dogs, gains confidence from them, and remembers how much fun life can be. Canine companionship is her happy place, and we`d love to see her join a family where she has a four-legged best friend to help guide her.If you have a patient heart, a gentle home, and a dog looking for a sister, Beth might just be the missing piece.Sometimes the quiet ones have the most love to give. They just need someone willing to wait long enough to see it.Apply to adopt Beth at www.zeusrescues.org.

Story
Meet Daisy Jane ??Daisy Jane is only 2 years old, and after everything she’s been through, we’re finally getting to see who this girl REALLY is.Daisy was found as a stray. Her owner was located — and decided he didn’t want her back. His loss. Seriously.Because Daisy has turned out to be an energetic, cuddly, loving and ridiculously fun girl who is thriving in her foster home.Daisy LOVES:?? Long walks?? Toys?? Tug-of-war?? Cuddling?? Learning new thingsHer foster says she’s an incredibly fast learner and great listener. They’re working on “stay,” and she’s picking it up quickly. She’s also making great progress around other dogs. Daisy is curious but can be scared, so she’s learning to stop and check in with her person when they encounter dogs on walks. And she’s catching on FAST.Daisy does have some separation anxiety, but here’s the good news: she does well home alone and sleeps in her crate without complaint. Her résumé now includes:Professional Cuddler ??Champion Tug-of-War Player ??Excellent Walking Buddy ??Fast Learner ??Crate Sleeper ??Certified Good Girl ??????Daisy would be a wonderful addition to a warm, active home with someone who will continue giving her the consistency, exercise and love she’s getting in foster. And yes, Daisy is a black dog. We know how easily black dogs can be overlooked in rescue — but spend five minutes with Daisy and the color of her coat will be the LAST thing you notice. She’s only 2. She has SO much walking, playing, learning and cuddling left to do.Daisy already knows what it feels like to be unwanted. Now we need someone to show her what it feels like to be chosen. Forever. ??Please share Daisy Jane and help us find her person!Apply to adopt at www.zeusrescues.org. Thanks! Michelle#ZeusRescues

?? REMEMBER ASIA? LOOK AT HER NOW. ??Last week we introduced you to Asia, our nearly 8-year-old Lab mix who was adopted from us as a tiny puppy in 2018 and returned through absolutely no fault of her own. After nearly 8 years in a home, she was scared and confused in the shelter. Thankfully, an amazing foster family stepped up—and after just THREE DAYS, we’re getting to see who Asia really is.And y’all… she is wonderful. ??Asia gets three long walks a day and LOVES them. She’s a world-class sniffer with a serious squirrel obsession ?????. This morning she even joined her foster dad for his run and had a blast. She’d make a fantastic jogging companion! At home, she just wants to be near her people. She follows her fosters around, then happily settles on the floor—or the couch. At night, she sleeps peacefully in her bed at the foot of theirs. She is incredibly quiet. In three days, she has barked exactly THREE TIMES. Two were squirrel-related, which Asia would probably argue were completely justified. ??She takes treats ever so gently, loves scratches and belly rubs, gives copious sloppy kisses, and immediately loved the dinner guests who came over Saturday. Her foster describes her as “an exceptionally gentle and loving dog” with an incredible generosity of spirit and joie de vivre.AND WE HAVE MORE GREAT NEWS! ???? ASIA’S $100 ADOPTION FEE HAS BEEN FULLY SPONSORED! ??An amazing person saw her original post and covered her fee. Now we just need to find her HOME.Asia is nearly 8, spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm negative. We wanted to put the light back in Asia’s eyes. It’s already coming back. Now let’s find the home where it can stay. ????Please SHARE Asia. Her person is out there.ADOPTION FEE: FULLY SPONSORED ??

Story
?? Roux needs a soft place to land.Roux is a 5½-year-old black Lab mix who was adopted from Zeus’ Rescues as a puppy. Five years later, through absolutely no fault of his own, he has been returned to us.He went from having a home and a familiar routine to suddenly finding himself in a shelter—and he simply doesn’t understand why. Roux is confused, frightened, and having a very difficult time adjusting to kennel life.Right now, he desperately needs a quiet foster home with no other pets where he can decompress, feel safe, and remember what it’s like to be loved. He doesn’t need perfection. He just needs patience, kindness, and a peaceful place to land while we help him begin his next chapter. If you can foster Roux—or are interested in giving him the forever home he deserves—please contact Zeus’ Rescues or apply at www.zeusrescues.org.Please share. Roux has already lost the only life he knew. Let’s make sure he doesn’t have to face this scary transition alone. ??
