Story
Posted November 2025 FALKOR is a handsome combination of Labrador Retriever and Australian Shepherd, and he possesses the wonderful qualities for which both breeds are known and loved! This athletic 18 month old pup has had the great fortune of living with wonderful foster families so we have some great info to provide. Falkor weighs 49 lbs. Falkor is definitely the kind of dog who must be part of the family. He thrives on human companionship and while he is friendly with other dogs, he prefers to interact and bond with "his" people. He has coexisted with several adult cats and was very respectful and observed boundaries. Falkor is also great with children, and would be a wonderful addition to a family with kiddos. This sweet boy enjoys the outdoors, exploring and looking for twigs and good smells on his walks. A fenced yard would be a great bonus so he can roll in the leaves and soak up the sun. He walks very well on leash and benefits from a harness Falkor is crate=trained and house trained, but like any dog there will be an adjustment period while he learns new routines. He is not accustomed to being kenneled for long periods of time, so his ideal home would be one where he doesn’t have a long alone day. Falkor’s Maine foster family says he is doing so well! He may not have seen stairs before because he comes down them just fine but needs coaxing to go up. He can get excited and jump on new people so they are working on that with Falkor. He plays great with dogs and kids who are patient and respectful. Falkor is FAST and playful. He’s been eating in his crate and doing well. He gets extra excited around meal times and he will learn to settle easier once he has a routine and realizes he never will have to worry about being fed again. If you have interest in Falkor or any of our sweeties please fill out the adoption application. Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. Once approved, we expect a potential family to travel to the dog in the foster setting so that they are introduced where they are feeling safe and loved. Thank you for considering rescue!

Newest update: June 2026 Fiona is a sweet sweet girl who prefers life as an "only child". She is learning all kinds of good skills with our friends at Kompletely K9 Dog Training and Rehabilitation and she's ready now to find love once again. Fiona would love to get all the snuggles and have all the outdoor adventures that a sweet girl like her deserves. She is 9 years old and her DNA test was super crazy – black lab, american staffordshire terrier, greyhound, boston terrier and some other small percentages of mixed breeds. She is only 42 lbs so a perfect medium size. Fiona walks well on a leash with the right tools and will be a wonderful addition to the right family - one who has good leadership and is willing to have just one dog. A neighborhood crowded with dogs or an apartment setting would not be the best spot for Fiona, but if you want an alarm barker for your window station, Fiona is your girl! Fiona likes her crate and goes there easily with one command. She has some great obedience skills, and some of her favorite things are running around the fenced yard, curling up on the couch near (or on top of) her person, and showing off her smarts! She enjoys a collection of sweaters because she does not love the rain and cold. Fiona never has accidents inside and will happily accompany you outside. If a new person comes in, she can be wary at first but then will check them out and eventually give kisses. She has never had aggression with humans, but has had limited access to children and we would not place her with young, fast-moving kiddos. She hasn’t met a cat but we think she has enough prey drive that she would not appreciate a feline buddy, or they would not appreciate her ; 0 ) Fiona enjoys going in the car but does better crated in the car. With good management she can tolerate being around other dogs but doesn't always appreciate sharing resources. We know this sweet princess has so much love to give! If you are thinking of adding a wonderful pup to your life, please contact us about Fiona. We don't tell her she is looking for a retirement home, because then she might run circles around us, but she would love to cozy up to a retired human friend. If you have interest in meeting this pretty girl Fiona or any of our cuties, fill out the adoption application. Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed. They are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved. Thank you for considering rescue!

Newest update: June 2026 Becky is approximately 11 yrs old but don’t tell her she’s looking for a retirement home because then she will tire you out playing ball ! We don’t think she has slowed down much at all, she is no couch potato but she is happy with a couple regular walks per day and some time to play ball! She is a beautiful 61-lb lab mix with a shiny coat and a desire for routine (and a ball!) Becky doesn’t love being crated but once she settles in we think she wouldn’t need one if she can be in a doggy proof area when you are not home. Becky is not kitty-friendly and she would prefer to live without other dogs because she likes her possessions and people to be just hers. If she’s out on a walk, she tolerates dogs just fine but doesn’t want to play with them or share. She loves to go on new adventures, whether in the woods, or walking on the rail trail nearby. This girl doesn't love chaos and has not lived with small children. She is not feline friendly and she would prefer to be the only dog in the home. She can pass dogs on a walk but does not want to share her home and people with other dogs. Her ideal home has a fenced yard with one or two humans that don’t mind indulging her love for balls. Becky is staying with our friends at Kompletely K9 Dog Training and Rehabilitation and a new family would need to continue the training that has been set up for her so that she can be the fun and awesome girl that we know she is! Did we mention you'll need a supply of balls to make Becky happy? ; 0 ) Here's a short video of pretty girl Becky: https://youtu.be/Bq6Vstv9CmU Interested in adopting Becky or any of our other sweeties? Check out our adoption application. Please note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England.

Story
Posted June 2026 This beautiful princess is Dazzle, and she's come a long way. Right before Christmas of 2025 she was found pregnant and trying to survive on her own. Luckily our southern rescue partners were able to help her. She is the most loving dog, in spite of being failed by humans in the past. Dazzle is 2 years old and weighs 52 lbs but is working on dropping a few of those pounds. Dazzle raised her babies like the perfect champion mama; all of them came to us earlier in the spring and got adopted. Now it's Dazzle's turn! She is gentle, loving and she acts like she knows she is a lucky girl. Dazzle enjoys playing with other dogs and is always the calm presence, not the wild player. She keeps things balanced and knows when to settle. Currently, she is living in a Maine foster home as an "only" and doing just fine. She loves the children, is fine with the cats, and she is sweet and affectionate, happy to just be close to her person. She is housetrained, crate-trained and ready to roll. If you have interest in meeting Dazzle or any of our sweeties please fill out the adoption application. Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Story
Sadie is a rescue dog. The shelter she was adopted from did not know her history other than she came from the South somewhere. She is 11 years old - we think - (vet's estimate). She is a sweet dog, loves attention, riding in my truck, ice cream, and the neighbor kids when they take care of her for me. Inside she is calm and well behaved. Outside she is a "puller", wanting to explore everything and follow every scent. Being elderly, I feel she needs a home with room to play and run, as I am unable to do that with her. As I age, as a retired firefighter with some health issues from the job, I worry that I will not be able to continue to take care of her. She is very sharp and alert, and obviously needs - and deserves - more activity and attention than I can give her. She acts like a much younger dog, and I want her to be able to have fun and enjoy a more active and interesting lifestyle. She received a good health report last month at her annual check-up.

Story
Puppy Frannie — An Ebony Beauty with a Heart of Gold Some puppies simply have that special combination of beauty, sweetness and an easygoing personality that makes you think, “Oh, she is going to be an amazing dog.” Frannie is one of those puppies.   Born May 22nd to a beautiful Redbone Hound mama, Frannie is one of 12 puppies in a litter that appears to have some Labrador mixed into the family tree. Half of her littermates are black, and Frannie is growing into an absolutely gorgeous ebony-colored girl with a sleek, shiny coat that is as soft as velvet. She has been wonderfully low-shedding so far, too!   But her beauty is only the beginning.  Frannie is a sweet, gentle, curious and playful puppy who loves being around other dogs and puppies. She has a lovely, submissive play style and seems to understand how to interact appropriately with her canine friends. She would be a wonderful addition to a family looking for a dog who can grow up alongside another playful pup.   She is also a smart little girl who catches on quickly. Frannie is doing very well with pee-pad training and is learning that outdoor potty breaks are part of the routine. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the entire night, which is pretty impressive for such a young puppy!   One of the things we love about Frannie is that she isn't the puppy who blindly charges into every situation. Sometimes she hangs back for just a moment, takes a look around and makes sure everything is safe before she goes bounding off to explore. It's an adorable little glimpse of the thoughtful, observant dog she is becoming.   And those ears! ❤️   Frannie's soft hound-dog ears frame her sweet face perfectly, giving her that unmistakable “I am going to be gorgeous when I grow up” look. We expect her to mature into a beautiful medium-sized dog around 50 pounds—a wonderful size for an active family and a companion who can join you for all kinds of adventures.   Frannie has already had lots of opportunities to experience the world. She has been wonderful with dogs, cats and children, and she has even attended several Puppy Yoga classes over the past month, where she has been a big hit with everyone she meets!   We can easily picture Frannie growing into the kind of dog who happily goes everywhere with her family—out for walks, to outdoor events, on adventures, or simply along for the everyday moments that make a dog feel like part of the family.   She is beautiful. She is sweet. She is smart. And she is already showing us what a wonderful companion she can become. Frannie is ready to find the family who will love watching her grow into the gorgeous ebony girl she is destined to be.   If you think Frannie might be your girl, email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to request an adoption application or ask questions. We would love to tell you more about this very special puppy!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comAugust 31, 2026, 9:49 pm
