Story
We have had Huxley since he was 8weeks old. His birthday is 6/26/19, he is almost 5 years old. He is a mix of lab, German shepherd and husky. Weighs about 75lb. He is neutered. He is up to date on medical care, vaccines, heart worm and flea meds. He has been through 2 different training classes (beginner and intermediate). He knows basic commands and some tricks. He is a good leash walker but does have some reactivity when he sees other dogs. He has free roam of our home, even when we are gone. He is house broken and does not destroy anything. He is also crate trained although we rarely use it except for long car travel. We are heartbroken that we need to give him up. He was not feeling well (after getting into our trash) and had a bad day. He bit our child and we feel that we cannot keep him anymore. He has lived peacefully with our other dog (female) since we got her 4 years ago.

Story
Cocoa is three years old. She is high energy, reactive, and territorial of her people and space. She has learned to live with our other dog, but we are unable to have her around unfamiliar dogs. She is not aggressive toward people, but has been aggressive to other dogs in our house and when visiting other homes. She regularly jumps the fence to chase rabbits, cats, squirrels. She is a lot of dog. With that out of the way, we will be heartbroken to see her leave. She loves to snuggle and play, has a ton of personality, and is very obedient in calm situations. We adopted her two years ago looking for a companion for our other dog. We hoped that we could be a safe home for her to relearn positive behaviors, but we haven’t been able to make progress on her reactivity. She needs an owner willing to give her a high level of activity, and invest time in healthy socialization. She may be able to adjust to other pets. She is an excellent companion.

Story
Are you a lonely introvert looking for a devoted, super smart, and completely goofy best friend? I just might be your guy! Here at MAS I am staying in the quieter building; when I go home I would like to keep my living situation more low-key as well. Because I am a nervous-nelly, my adopter needs be a confident and experienced leader willing to take it slow and really get to know me before I go home. It is much more comfortable for me to build up to a relationship with new people (I am kinda like an introvert myself); I like to take it easy and go for a couple walks before we label our relationship as friends. Once we are friends, I am known for my "Trevor hugs" with my favorite people and I am quite a cuddley boy (I love belly rubs)! Car rides are one of my favorite things, usually car rides mean fun adventures together! If there is potential for water activities, you may want to bring a towel - because you better believe I am going to be jumping in! Going for rural, more scenic walks is another big highlight in my days. Not to brag, but my leash manners are pretty good (except when there's something I have to mark as mine - then I will lead the way there). As far as the nitty-gritty details go, I would be happy to befriend your cat, but I am not very interested in hanging around other dogs or kids. I have some allergies and anxiety that I have long-term medications for, but the MAS staff will go over the details before I go home. DOB: 1/21/2015 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
Gender: Female Age: # 1/2 Breed/Color: Lab / Black Location: Gregory, MI Pet ID: 2024_12 Adoption Fee: $350 Princess aka Prissy is a very laid back and quiet lab/hound mix. She has not seen a lot of new things, so moving SLOW with her is going to be critical. She is used to and LOVES cats. Dogs are new to her and they are slowly growing on her. She is a bit on the chunky side, so clearly she is food motivated in life. She does not know very commands, but she is not unruly or ill mannered. Princess is not used to men, but in her foster home she has taken a liking to the dad! She would make the perfect companion for someone who wants a snuggle pup! To adopt an animal from our sanctuary, the first step is to submit an application. *Please note we adopt within the state of MICHIGAN ONLY* The process takes a few weeks. It involves vet and personal reference checks and interview of applicant. There are no exceptions … Please remember that we are all volunteers and it may take a week or so after we receive your application to be contacted. Sometimes several people may be interested in the same pet, so please remember that not every animal is right for every home. To ensure a healthy and happy placement for our pets and their new families, we take the time to evaluate each animal’s temperament and try to match the right animal to the right family. OUR ADOPTION GUIDELINES All fees are subject to change without notice. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee the animal will be adopted to you. We do not work on a first come first serve basis. We collect applications and make our best determination on where we think the animal would thrive the best. We have the right to deny any applicant without explanation, and the decision is final. Very rarely do we get written documentation of an animal’s age and breed. We do not guarantee these, we work with professionals to help make the best determination. All of our foster homes follow a 30 Day Stay policy and do not make ANY exceptions. This policy requires every animal who comes into foster care, to stay in foster care for a minimum of 30 day before going to their forever home. Story
Make sure to let us know you saw Coal on Adopt-a-pet. Coal is a recent owner surrender that we are already in love with! This pup went from being an indoor dog to a chain tie out due to the owner's health decline. The sweetness seen in his eyes, he just wants to be part of a family again. Coal has lived with other dogs, with proper introduction he may do well with new friends. Unknown cat behavior, we only say no small children due to his age and tolerance.
