Story
Ziegler “Ziggy” is in need of a foster home. His family is moving to an apartment, which would not be a good fit for him. He would do best in a calm home with a fenced yard and could enjoy the company of another playful dog after a slow, proper introduction. No cats, might be a little jumpy for small children. Please email dogteam@campcompanion.org with any questions about fostering Ziggy

Story
Saison is about 2 years old and already has an incredible story of resilience. She showed up at a home in northern Kansas, had a litter of puppies, and during her spay it was discovered she was heartworm positive. She bravely went through treatment and is now finished, happy, and ready for her forever family. Despite everything she’s been through, Saison has shown us glimpses that she may have once been someone’s beloved pet. She: - Walks nicely on leash (though she’ll need practice when seeing other dogs). - Hops right into the car and LOVES going for rides 🚗 - Is crate trained and housebroken - She does have a recall, she currently lives on 8 acres and will stick around unless a bunny or cat runs by. - Loves cuddling up in bed with her humans 🛏️💞 - Saison is wonderful with kids and adores people. She does well with most dogs, especially medium to large males, and would be happy in a home with or without another dog. ⚠️ A few things to note: - She cannot live in an apartment or townhome and that is because of her reactivity on a leash. She does have some leash and barrier reactivity that will need continued training. - She cannot live with cats or chickens. She was brought into our rescue because she killed chickens and she will try to kill the farm cat. She shouldn't be with small dogs, mainly because her pray drive is so intense we want small dogs to be safe. - Saison has been out and about on Mayo Clinic grounds, she's met staff and patients and loves them. Saison truly is a lover and while her barrier/leash issues need work, she is a sweet, sweet dog. 👉 As part of her lifelong care, Saison will need to remain on monthly heartworm preventatives and have yearly heartworm tests. Story
With his big, soulful puppy dog eyes, Rick is impossible not to fall for. He has all the charm and sweetness you could ever want in a companion. When he is happy, his ears perk into little “heart ears,” as his foster mom lovingly calls them. He even has a “lucky paw,” just like Nemo’s fin. Rick is one of the absolute sweetest companions you could ask for. He is deeply bonded to his foster mom and dad, always waiting by the door for them to come home and following them everywhere. His biggest goal in life is simply to make his people happy. Because of past trauma from being kenneled, Rick does best when left out during the day. He mostly naps, but anything tempting to chew such as straws, remotes, or glasses should be kept out of reach. Rick can be nervous with new people and needs slow introductions to visitors. He is improving with the resident cats but still gets the occasional urge to chase, so dog savvy cats are best. He enjoys playing with dogs he knows and trusts, and his gentle, easygoing nature shines through once he feels comfortable. Because fast movements and unpredictability can make him anxious, Rick needs a home without small children. Rick is ready to bring love, loyalty, and plenty of cozy moments to his forever family. Whoever adopts him is one lucky human. Adoption fee is $350+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org .

Story
Meet Lucy Lu! Lucy Lu is a loving, people obsessed girl who adores everyone she meets. Kids, adults, strangers, friends. If you are human, she is all in. She greets her people with full body wiggles, happy laps around the house, and gentle nose boop kisses. She loves being close and will happily follow you from room to room just to keep you company. She enjoys staying active and makes a great hiking partner, but she is just as happy settling in for the evening with a game of tug and then curling up nearby at bedtime. Lucy Lu truly thrives on being with her people. She needs to be the only pet in the home where she can feel relaxed, secure, and fully focused on her people. She is reactive around other dogs and is looking for a home that she doesn't encounter many. Adoption fee is $350+ tax; please apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Meet miss Penny! This sweet girl was transferred to PCHS from a valued rescue partner. She was originally found as a stray around a busy apartment complex. Unfortunately, no one ever came looking for her. Penny is estimated to be a beagle/lab mix and roughly 5 years old. She is on the medium side and is under 50 pounds. Penny is an easy girl who adjusts well to new situations and environments. She is very `go with the flow` if you will. She enjoys spending time with people, going on walks, and having tasty snacks. She also loves to sing the song of her people and does the traditional beagle `awhoos`. Penny would do well in just about any home. She is hoping her time here can be short and have a home for the holidays! Could that be you? If you think so, apply online today!Adoption fee is $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Emmett arrived from the city pound on 7/12/2025 when his legal hold was finished. He had been found tied to a table at a local park. He is approximately 2 to 3 years old and is a mystery mixed breed. Maybe some hound, shepherd, lab...it's a guessing game. He does have some crazy double dew claws on his hind feet that give him a unique quality. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Emmett is a bit unsure of himself and can be quite shy at first. However he's really quite loving and goofy. We think he has the potential to be a fun companion. He does appear to be okay with other dogs. We don't know about cats at all. We're not sure if he has ever been around young kids. He will require some basic training in all areas and will need regular exercise. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 9, 2025, 9:11 pm
