After finding out that his owner’s health condition would no longer allow him to care for Lucky, the family contacted NDLB to ensure that he could continue to have the best life possible. It was easy to see that Lucky loves his people (and food!). In his foster home, he is working on fine tuning some manners, learning not to counter surf, and enjoy mealtime with nutritious dog food, rather than splitting a plate with his humans. Lucky loves to run and play! A fenced in yard would be a wonderful addition for him as he continues to work on his recall and staying close to home. In his foster home, Lucky does have a tie out that he has quickly gotten used to and looks forward to his daily runs out in the back acreage where he can find all the smells and burn off his energy. He is also working on some leash training so that he doesn’t pull, but when you are so excited, that can sue be hard for a playful pup! While being in a crate took a few days to get used to, Lucky is learning that this is his own safe space and goes in well with a treat. He will sleep quietly in there all night, but has also enjoyed the nights where he gets to snuggle up on the bed with his foster’s teenager. The more snuggles and attention he gets, the better! He has so much love to give. Lucky does well going potty outside, but has not perfected telling his people when he needs to go out, so there have been a few accidents since being with his foster. They are confident with some additional training and consistency, he will learn that we only go potty outside and how to give those queues. He hasn’t had any accidents in his kennel, which is great! Lucky is looking for his forever person to give him all of the love and attention that he continues to deserve. Someone who is committed to his continued training and fine tuning of skills will help him be the best dog that he can be. He has done well the with resident lab at his foster home, who is an alpha that helps show the ways and routine in the home. Lucky is likely to do well with a welcoming alpha or as solo pup that gets all the love. He has not been around cats, but has shown a little bit of interest in the chickens when outside at his foster home. Did I mention car rides?? Lucky loves to ride along and is such a good boy in the car. He's ready to take a road trip anytime! Could you be the lucky one to welcome Lucky to your home? He can’t wait to meet his forever person!
