Hi! My name is Malachi and I am 3 year old male mixed breed. I am microchipped, heartworm tested, neutered, and current on my vaccines. 3 words that describe me: Affectionate, Playful, Energetic Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I'm a big boy with lots of energy! I love zooming around the yard at CRHS. I'm also very affectionate and will demand pets by putting my head under your arm. I can be a little reserved of new people, but once I get to know you I'll be your bff! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10) 8/10 Housetraining Status: I'm still working on it, but with a consistent schedule I should catch on fast! I should do well in a home: Any children in my potential home will need to be 13 years or older. I am required to meet all dogs in my potential home before adoption. I have never met a cat before so my humans don’t know how I will be around them. My favorite activities are: Getting love and affection. I will come sit between your legs and lean on you. I also really love to play with my people, especially with squeaky toys. Things I need work on are: I am a big boy who isn't aware of my strength and size, so some basic training would help so I'm not so jumpy when excited. I also tend to pull on the leash. Any special needs: None Doggy day out notes: "He's the sweetest boy. LOVES the snow. Loves pup cups, treats, snuggles and stuffies. He's happy just being near his people. Great in the car, great in the pup cup drive thru. He just wants love. He is a completely different dog after some positive reinforcement, love, cuddles, and rewards for his good behavior." "Malachi was an absolute joy to have today! He was a little nervous at first but it didn't take him long to settle in. He saw a good mix of people including young kids to early pre-teen ages. He let a number of people approach for a closer look and was receptive to petting. He was curious of other dogs but we still kept a safe distance. He did bark a tad bit at some larger me who were walking the other way on a trail but it was very short lived. I would assume he may be a bit more trusting of women. All in all, he conducted himself extremely well. It would be a pleasure to take him out again!" "Malachi did super on his DD outing! He loves being out exploring and sniffing at everything on walks! He does pretty good leash walking but would prefer to sniff. Malachi loves attention & affection from his human and he likes to snuggle right up to you putting his head in your lap. He will definitely make a very nice addition to a family and/or person💙" "He is such a happy dog and he jumped up and gave me a hug when he saw me. We took him to the pet store and he picked out a toy and a treat. He was really good with everyone he saw men, women and kids. He takes treats very gentle. He walks good on leashe. He was really good in my truck he looked out the window and laid down and took a nap. He got a pup cup and was really good at the drive thru. He played with his toy a little bit but was definitely more interested in his pig ear. Hes a great dog and calms down quickly and relaxes when he is out and away from the shelter and gets comfortable. He loves to give kisses and lean his head on your lap or shoulder. He is a great dog. We love Malachi." Hello, my name is Howie! I'm a 1-year-old labrador/pit bull terrier mix. I am current on my vaccines, and soon to be heartworm tested, neutered, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Loyal, Energetic, Food-motivated Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: When I first came into the shelter I was very scared and unsure of new people. I've been making progress every day, so now I'm a little more outgoing. I'm incredibly food motivated, so that will make training even easier! I have a lot of energy so I'd make a good running or hiking partner! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 8/10 Housetraining Status: I am working on it, with a consistent schedule and lots of praise I should learn quick! I should do well in a home: Any children in my home will need to be 13 years or older. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: Running around outside and getting affection from my favorite people! Things I need work on are: I like to play tug of war with my leash sometimes, so I could use some work with my leash walking skills. My basic commands could also use some work. Life goals?? To have someone look at you the way Luna looks at a tennis ball or a stick… Lovable miss-Luna is as ready as ever to land herself a forever family of her own, and one that’s willing to play endless fetch would be her DREAM! Luna (female) is a 4 year old silver lab who joined the New Leash family in pretty poor physical condition due to some negligence + thyroid levels that cause hair loss & needed some medication/maintenance. Fast-forward to today…Luna is doing pretty incredible! Her previous foster family had shown her the unconditional love she’s never known, her fur is filling in nicely, and she is ready for a forever kind of love!   Luna's biggest obstacle is that she is dog reactive, so she needs to be the only pet in a home with a fenced yard.   Luna is currently in boarding and working on training, but really needs a home to call her very own.   More about Luna:  50lbs 100% potty-trained  crate-trained  a well-mannered girl who is a good listener!   LOVES car rides (copilot, anyone? )  will show off her tricks for some yummy treats!  affectionate & loving (kisses, cuddles, belly rubs…you name it! )  would play fetch all day, every day if you’d let her!   continuing to work on her leash etiquette (which she previously had no concept of), and is improving every single day!  ADORES her people! More about Luna’s home requirements:  A fenced-in yard would be her dream, because: 1. alllllll the fetch and 2. roaming + sniffing to her heart’s content!  Being the only dog would be ideal. Luna is your typical “covid dog,” so the socialization skills she should’ve received as a puppy are nonexistent. Her initial reaction is to become quite anxious around new dogs…so if she’s not the only dog in the home, she’d require a low-key, non-reactive 4-legged friend. She would also need to do several meet & greets with him/her prior to adoption! She continues to learn “how to dog” every single day. Luna can be anxious around younger kids.  So a home with kids 12+ is needed for this girl.  Luna is eligible for our foster-to-adopt program, so please reach out if you think she possibly sounds like a good fit for you.
