Story
Life goals?? To have someone look at you the way Luna looks at a tennis ball or a stick… Lovable miss-Luna is as ready as ever to land herself a forever family of her own, and one that’s willing to play endless fetch would be her DREAM! Luna (female) is a 4 year old silver lab who joined the New Leash family in pretty poor physical condition due to some negligence + thyroid levels that cause hair loss & needed some medication/maintenance. Fast-forward to today…Luna is doing pretty incredible! Her previous foster family had shown her the unconditional love she’s never known, her fur is filling in nicely, and she is ready for a forever kind of love!   Luna's biggest obstacle is that she is dog reactive, so she needs to be the only pet in a home with a fenced yard.   Luna is currently in boarding and working on training, but really needs a home to call her very own.   More about Luna:  50lbs 100% potty-trained  crate-trained  a well-mannered girl who is a good listener!   LOVES car rides (copilot, anyone? )  will show off her tricks for some yummy treats!  affectionate & loving (kisses, cuddles, belly rubs…you name it! )  would play fetch all day, every day if you’d let her!   continuing to work on her leash etiquette (which she previously had no concept of), and is improving every single day!  ADORES her people! More about Luna’s home requirements:  A fenced-in yard would be her dream, because: 1. alllllll the fetch and 2. roaming + sniffing to her heart’s content!  Being the only dog would be ideal. Luna is your typical “covid dog,” so the socialization skills she should’ve received as a puppy are nonexistent. Her initial reaction is to become quite anxious around new dogs…so if she’s not the only dog in the home, she’d require a low-key, non-reactive 4-legged friend. She would also need to do several meet & greets with him/her prior to adoption! She continues to learn “how to dog” every single day. Luna can be anxious around younger kids.  So a home with kids 12+ is needed for this girl.  Luna is eligible for our foster-to-adopt program, so please reach out if you think she possibly sounds like a good fit for you. Story
We have another Poppy—and we hope she is just as popular as the Poppy we posted earlier this week. This Poppy is about one year old and is a 50 lbs pittie mix.   She is an active playful girl who would do best in a  home with a fenced yard  or a very active family who will take her running or hiking regularly.    She could also do well on a farm where she has a job and something to keep her busy.   She loves to explore! Poppy is completely housebroke and goes right in her kennel when given the command.   She loves to chew on bones!  She does well with other dogs. She loves to go on walks, but can still pull a bit on leash. Poppy needs a family who is experienced with dogs and will commit to socializing her safely.   She can bark and lunge when meeting new people on leash.   In the home, she also barks and is not a fan of guests, but if given time and space warms up.   The key is just having the guest ignore her and let Poppy decide  who and when (or if) she wants to interact.  Treats help a lot. She will often come up and sniff the new person She is working on muzzle training, which will help her family to have more socialization for her in a healthy and positive way.   She does seem to prefer women over men.  She has not been around kids or cats. If you are an experienced dog owner/handler and have the time to help Poppy overcome some of her fear of strangers, we would love to talk to you.   She is a great dog with so much love to give.If you’re interested in adoption, please private message us or APPLY HERE if you haven’t yet: https://newleashdogrescue.com ##2050554##

Story
Meet Julius! He was found out on his own with his pal, Vinny, and take in to Rochester Animal Control. They spent some time there, and it was discovered that their owners could no longer care for them, and would not be able to take them back. Julius is around 1 year old, and while he and Vinny get along, they do not need to be adopted to the same home. Vinny prefers plenty of snuggle time and cuddles, while Julius is a young and playful fella. Julius is now here at PCHS and would love to meet you! If you think Julius is the one, please apply online! Applications for adoption can be found on the homepage of the website. Once you have submitted your application a PCHS staff will contact you regarding an appointment to meet the animals you are interested in.*Adoption fee: $200 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
Copper is a bundle of joy wrapped in a shiny coat. With his playful spirit and boundless energy, he's always ready to turn an ordinary day into an adventure! Whether it's chasing after a squeaky toy, playing fetch, or just running around in the yard, Copper's enthusiasm is absolutely contagious. However, Copper does have a tender side-he experiences a bit of separation anxiety, which means he thrives in an environment where he has plenty of companionship and understanding. He'll need a family who can offer him patience and reassurance while he learns to feel secure on his own. Copper is eager to find a home where he can be the center of attention and share his loving heart. He gets along great with other pets and would make a fantastic addition to a family willing to give him the extra love and care he needs. Copper can sometimes be a little too exuberant for small children and might be best suited to a home with older kids who can join in the fun without being overwhelmed. Copper also likes to chase cats, so dog savvy cats only please. He is very friendly when meeting people and good with dogs. Adoption fee is $300 plus tax, apply at www.campcompanion.org
