Story
Life goals?? To have someone look at you the way Luna looks at a tennis ball or a stick… Lovable miss-Luna is as ready as ever to land herself a forever family of her own, and one that’s willing to play endless fetch would be her DREAM! Luna (female) is a 4 year old silver lab who joined the New Leash family in pretty poor physical condition due to some negligence + thyroid levels that cause hair loss & needed some medication/maintenance. Fast-forward to today…Luna is doing pretty incredible! Her previous foster family had shown her the unconditional love she’s never known, her fur is filling in nicely, and she is ready for a forever kind of love!   Luna's biggest obstacle is that she is dog reactive, so she needs to be the only pet in a home with a fenced yard.   Luna is currently in boarding and working on training, but really needs a home to call her very own.   More about Luna:  50lbs 100% potty-trained  crate-trained  a well-mannered girl who is a good listener!   LOVES car rides (copilot, anyone? )  will show off her tricks for some yummy treats!  affectionate & loving (kisses, cuddles, belly rubs…you name it! )  would play fetch all day, every day if you’d let her!   continuing to work on her leash etiquette (which she previously had no concept of), and is improving every single day!  ADORES her people! More about Luna’s home requirements:  A fenced-in yard would be her dream, because: 1. alllllll the fetch and 2. roaming + sniffing to her heart’s content!  Being the only dog would be ideal. Luna is your typical “covid dog,” so the socialization skills she should’ve received as a puppy are nonexistent. Her initial reaction is to become quite anxious around new dogs…so if she’s not the only dog in the home, she’d require a low-key, non-reactive 4-legged friend. She would also need to do several meet & greets with him/her prior to adoption! She continues to learn “how to dog” every single day. Luna can be anxious around younger kids.  So a home with kids 12+ is needed for this girl.  Luna is eligible for our foster-to-adopt program, so please reach out if you think she possibly sounds like a good fit for you. APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com **Luna’s $200 adoption fee includes her spay, vaccinations, heartworm test, and microchip. ##1817860##

Story
We have another Poppy—and we hope she is just as popular as the Poppy we posted earlier this week. This Poppy is about one year old and is a 50 lbs pittie mix.   She is an active playful girl who would do best in a  home with a fenced yard  or a very active family who will take her running or hiking regularly.    She could also do well on a farm where she has a job and something to keep her busy.   She loves to explore! Poppy is completely housebroke and goes right in her kennel when given the command.   She loves to chew on bones!  She does well with other dogs. She loves to go on walks, but can still pull a bit on leash. Poppy needs a family who is experienced with dogs and will commit to socializing her safely.   She can bark and lunge when meeting new people on leash.   In the home, she also barks and is not a fan of guests, but if given time and space warms up.   The key is just having the guest ignore her and let Poppy decide  who and when (or if) she wants to interact.  Treats help a lot. She will often come up and sniff the new person She is working on muzzle training, which will help her family to have more socialization for her in a healthy and positive way.   She does seem to prefer women over men.  She has not been around kids or cats. If you are an experienced dog owner/handler and have the time to help Poppy overcome some of her fear of strangers, we would love to talk to you.   She is a great dog with so much love to give.If you’re interested in adoption, please private message us or APPLY HERE if you haven’t yet: https://newleashdogrescue.com ##2050554##

It’s in the dogs/puppies best interest to be placed into their furever homes in a timely fashion. All household members must attend the meet and greet. Tchoup, is a big old goofy pup. He absolutely adores toys, the more the better. Fluffy toys, balls, chewy bones, they are all magical to him. He calls all dogs friends and would love to have a sibling to run around with in his new home. He’s learning the ropes of living in a home, but he is settling in fast and enjoying his never-ending toy box. This kid would fit in with almost any type of family! Oh Tchoup, you big goofy hunk of love. You’ve been looking for your forever family for a long time and your foster Mom doesn’t understand why being that you are SO handsome? You have some quirks, but don’t we all? You need to get to know new doggy friends before you accept them into the folds of your family, but once in, you are fast friends and love to play. Dominate males maybe not so much, but in your current home you have both big & little male & female dog friends. You absolutely love your human people and are always close by wanting pets and cuddles. Are you a runner or avid hiker, this is your boy!! He loves being outside and would be a great partner. Tchoup absolutely loves his crate and willingly goes in and spends time there. There are instances where this overgrown goof ball like to “hog” all the toys and claim them all as his own (don’t we all). He is kindly reminded to share, and bones and toys removed. This kid is so smart and motivated to learn and would thrive in an obedience class. With his perfect Holstein colors, he looks like a mini cow and who doesn’t love a mini cow/dog?

Story
Meet Riccochet! This handsome 3-year-old Lab mix is 60 pounds of heart, soul, and playful energy. Riccochet is a sweet and sensitive guy who thrives in the great outdoors—his happy place is a fenced-in yard where he can roam, sniff, and chase toys to his heart’s content. Riccochet is a gentle spirit who takes a little time to warm up, but once he feels safe, his loyal and loving personality shines. He’ll do best with someone who understands dog body language and is willing to give him the patience and space he needs to build trust at his own pace. He’s wonderful with other dogs, friendly with cats, and loves his people—but he hasn’t had experience with children, so a calm, adult household would be ideal for him. Riccochet isn’t a fan of kennels, so he’s looking for a home where he doesn’t have to be crated and can enjoy his freedom. He is assumed to be potty trained being he likes being outside 90% of the time. If you’re the kind of person who appreciates a quiet companion with a big heart and you’re ready to watch a shy pup blossom into your most loyal friend, Riccochet might just be your perfect match. Riccochet is a rescue from Louisiana where he’s spent his whole life waiting for forever. So now he’s here in Wisconsin. 📍Being fostered in Viroqua, WI 🏁My adoption fee is $350 and you can see more about the rescue at https://lastpawrescue.org. Our website takes days to update so please apply even if I’m not on there. ✅You can apply directly at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LPRI/Dog?fbclid=IwAR2NSCms13xrrfdH2mAbM1hPg5dQoC0ruvNJI3TsFtZtsWp9PvNx46zC6SM 501(c)(3) Approved WI Agricultural Licence#285589-DSR

Bio: Boudreaux is a sweet old man looking for his forever home! He is a gentle giant who loves to cuddle or lay on your lap while receiving attention! He's not too interested in toys but he loves looking out the window! He enjoys his time outside on a leash, but i'm sure he would love a fenced in yard to spend time in too! He does great with sit & kennel as of now, but who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? We would love to see this old boy go to a permanent home for the rest of his life. 🐾
