Story
Meet Harley, the lovable black beauty ready to steal your heart! This sweet girl found herself in doggy jail after being a stray, and she's hoping to trade in her cell for a cozy home. Harley came in with her buddy Mose, but they're open to separate adventures or a joint family experience. Harley's can have some pickiness when it comes to doggy pals, but she's head over paws for Mose. Harley is not just a pretty face—she's got brains too! This energetic and smart pup knows how to sit for treats, making her a delight to train. Despite being a medium-sized charmer, Harley faces the challenge of "black dog syndrome" where dark-coated dogs like her tend to wait longer for their forever homes. Let's break that trend and give Harley the loving family she deserves. Adopt Harley and make every day brighter with this ebony gem by your side! By adopting me today you will save the life of two pets -- you'll save me and that will make room for the Shelter to rescue and save another pet.

Story
Gordy is a fun loving, energetic lab mix, who loves affection. Gordys past living situation was outside, with many other dogs, and no vet care. Since Gordy has been rescued, he has been treated for mange, tick disease, and heartworms. He has made tremendous progress in his foster home, but is still very fearful of strangers. Gordy has a lot of personality, is a great communicator (you’ll always know exactly how he’s feeling), and plays well with other dogs, would also thrive as an only dog. Gordy gets very excited, so a home with small children or small animals will not work well for him. Gordy is about 60 pounds but thinks he is small and petite. He is neutered, walks well on a leash, knows some basic commands, and is completely house trained (those are great accomplishments in such a short time). Gordy lives for playtime and snuggling with his person, he does not like to be in a kennel. He will attach himself to the person he trusts, but this will take some time an effort to gain, but he is worth it! If you are looking for a lazy dog, he will not be the one for you. If you are looking for a best friend who adores you and is always ready to hang out, Gordy may be your perfect fit! Story
Looking for your next cuddle buddy? Well look no further than Reese! She has come so far from where she started and it’s her turn to thrive and be the best dog she can be! Reese is a 50 pound 1.5 year old lab mix that is a little timid at first due to her being in the shelter most of her short life which has led her to be unsure of her surroundings. Once she learns she can trust you, she opens up and her fun loving, happy little personality shines through! She opens her eyes each morning so excited and grateful to see your face again! She begins her day with nudges to wake you up and lots of kisses to show just how much she missed you through the night! Reese is potty trained, kennel trained, and knows all of the basic commands…sit, stay, lay, shake, etc… She’s a quick learner and is very easily motivated by treats! Reese loves to go on daily walks and will sit patiently and wait for you to put her leash on and give her the command to walk out of the front door! She loves playing with other dogs, big and small, and is curious about cats but keeps her distance. Reese loves to end her days snuggled in the bed with her favorite people while literally laying on top of you! She can’t seem to get close enough to show you just how much she loves you! Due to Reese’s scary start in the shelter, she would do best in a very patient, calm home preferably without children but would benefit from having another dog in the family! Story
PARVO MOMMA UPDATE!! Sweet Momma LilyBeth and her 4 puppies were pulled from a local shelter after 2 puppies had passed away. We were told this family had a severe case of worms but sadly once they arrived at our vet we realized it was much worse. Not only were they loaded with parasites but all 5 tested positive for the deadly parvo virus and were seriously ill. All 5 had to be hospitalized for the next week in ICU at the awesome Parkway Animal Hospital. After a week of around the clock care it’s finally safe to say they have BEAT PARVO! Momma LilyBeth appears to be a yellow lab mix around 3 years old. She came to us severely emaciated and has filled out nicely. Shes finally at healthy weight which is around 40-45 lbs. This girl was absolutely terrified at the shelter but she has warmed up so much in her foster mom. She still will coward down at first but she quickly comes around. She absolutely adores her foster mom and is much more comfortable around females than males. She doesn’t mind other dogs as long as they are not dominate to her. She is not a fan of cats. She doesn’t mind a crate and is super loving once she gets to know you. She’s very excitable. She loves kids but she doesn’t understand her size. She walks on a leash and loves to play. She will require a little extra patience but she is totally worth it. She is Utd, hw tested and will be spayed on 4/21 and then will be ready for her perfect forever home. We are taking apps on this sweet girl now. All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. We also have full-time jobs and Families. We will try to answer all questions and applications in a timely manner. Please be patient and bear with us . Do not contact Parkway Animal Hospital as they are a vet clinic and can not answer questions on behalf of Wags and Whiskers. All questions and comments must go directly through the rescue. Thank you for your understanding.
