Story
Meet Cornbread! Cornbread is a lovable 2-year-old Golden Lab, Husky, and Shar-Pei mix weighing in at 55 pounds. He’s a total ball of energy and affection, with a voice that loves to be heard! Cornbread is crate-trained, though he’d much rather be with his favorite human. He’s a great car companion and walks nicely on a leash. While he gets along with both cats and dogs, he does enjoy a rough-and-tumble play session. His one quirk? He’s very vocal when it comes to guarding his food. Although Cornbread doesn’t live with kids, we think he’d do well in a family setting. He'll thrive with an owner who understands his Husky spirit and knows how to handle his talkative personality. If interested in meeting Cornbread, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/

Story
Meet Rocky – The Ultimate Survivor and Big Goofball! Rocky is a true miracle boy who’s beaten the odds time and again. Last summer, he fell seriously ill with a rare fungal infection called Histoplasmosis, and no one was sure he’d pull through. Thanks to a dedicated shelter vet and an amazing foster from Friends, Rocky fought hard, slowly regained his strength, and rediscovered his zest for life. Now, this big goofball loves daily walks where he chases squirrels, leaves—basically anything that moves! He does great with other dogs once off-leash, but on leash? Well, he sometimes barks a bit — his foster mom jokes he’s missing a brain cell! He’s also a huge cuddler who adores snuggling on laps and soaking up all the love. If we could describe Rocky in one photo, it would be the first photo. Look at that goober! While mostly calm and crate-trained, Rocky can get a little too excited around kids who play rough and might chase cats, so a home with calm older kids or no kids and no cats is best. Rocky has some lasting lung damage from his illness, which means he might wheeze or cough when excited, but it doesn’t slow him down. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a heart full of resilience and a goofy streak, Rocky is ready to be your forever best friend. Could that be with you? If interested in meeting Rocky, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/

Story
Millie was picked up as a stray and had been at a local overcrowded shelter for three months. She is a 55 pound German shorthaired pointer mix which makes her have a unique appearance and lively personality. Millie is a larger dog with a sleek, muscular build typical of Pointers. She has a short, shiny coat that is mostly white with black patches. Her expressive brown eyes and floppy ears give her an endearing and approachable look. Millie is known for her playful and energetic nature. She loves to run and play. One of Millie’s most notable traits is her impressive fence-climbing ability. This talent first became apparent when she came to her foster home. Curious about the world beyond her yard, Millie will climb over the fence to explore the neighborhood. Her escapades led to many amusing incidents, such as surprising the neighbors by appearing in their yards. Millie will require a 6 foot fence to manage her adventurous spirit. Millie's daily routine includes morning runs, playtime at the dog park, and engaging activities like puzzle toys and obedience training. Despite her adventurous nature, Millie is well-behaved at home. She enjoys lounging in her favorite spot by the window, watching the world go by, and greeting visitors with enthusiastic tail wags. Millie is low heartworm positive and is on slow kill monthly prevention. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats.
