Story
Hi! My name is Maisy Jane. I am a 72 pound black & white Labrador / bull terrier mix. I was born on June 8th, 2022. My foster journey started when I was just an 8 week old puppy. I was rescued after being abandoned on a roadside, and spent the next few months in foster care getting a lot of love, and training from my foster mom. I was adopted by a wonderful family, but sadly, my adoptive mom got sick with cancer, and could no longer take care of me, so my foster mom welcomed me back home, and now we are looking for my new forever family! I am a really sweet and smart girl who absolutely loves my people with my whole heart, and my exuberant tail wags show it. I love being involved in whatever you are doing, and I'm happy to spend all day, every day right by your side. I'm up for adventures as long as they aren't too scary, or I am down with just chilling and watching TV. I'm not a puppy anymore, but I still like to play and be active. I can get along really well with friendly dogs who are smaller than me, but bigger dogs or ones who are bossy tend to scare me. I love cats and kittens and try to play with them, but sometimes I can accidentally be a bit rough. Sometimes I don't realize how big and strong I am, and can overwhelm you with my exuberant love and whippingly waggly tail, so I may not be the best fit for little kids or those who are elderly or disabled. I learned a lot of tricks and commands when I was a puppy, and while some of those things are a little rusty in my memory, it's all coming back to me now as my foster mom works with me again! I know how to swim, and I really enjoy the water once I know it's safe. I love to chase bubbles and the spray from the water hose or sprinkler! While I am a really good girl, I'm not exactly perfect. I do like to dig holes, and loud noises and new things sometimes scare me. I can be a bit timid and tender hearted. I would really love a home where I can be loved and encouraged to be my best self by someone who understands dogs like me. Cornbread is a one-year-old, 70-pound Lab-Sharpei mix with a unique combination of charm and character. His Labrador side likely gives him a friendly, outgoing nature, while his Sharpei heritage may add a touch of independence and loyalty. At a year old, Cornbread is still full of youthful energy and would thrive in a home that provides regular exercise, mental stimulation, and affection. He will need a six foot fence as he likes to go on adventures! His size and breed mix make him an excellent candidate for active families or individuals who enjoy outdoor adventures. He is great on a leash and in a car. He loves other dogs but has not been tested with cats. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. Story
Gordy is a fun loving, energetic lab mix, who loves affection. Gordys past living situation was outside, with many other dogs, and no vet care. Since Gordy has been rescued, he has been treated for mange, tick disease, and heartworms. He has made tremendous progress in his foster home, but is still very fearful of strangers. Gordy has a lot of personality, is a great communicator (you’ll always know exactly how he’s feeling), and plays well with other dogs, would also thrive as an only dog. Gordy gets very excited, so a home with small children or small animals will not work well for him. Gordy is about 60 pounds but thinks he is small and petite. He is neutered, walks well on a leash, knows some basic commands, and is completely house trained (those are great accomplishments in such a short time). Gordy lives for playtime and snuggling with his person, he does not like to be in a kennel. He will attach himself to the person he trusts, but this will take some time an effort to gain, but he is worth it! If you are looking for a lazy dog, he will not be the one for you. If you are looking for a best friend who adores you and is always ready to hang out, Gordy may be your perfect fit! Story
Meet Tara, a one year old bundle of energy who’s ready to bring a whirlwind of fun into your life! This sweet girl was found as a stray in Ocean Springs, and even though she wore a collar no one came to claim her. Tara has an unstoppable zest for life and needs an active family to match her high energy. Whether it's long walks, adventures, or zoomies in a big yard, Tara is always up for action. She adores toys and can keep herself entertained, but she’d much prefer to share her joy with you. Tara is a loyal, loving dog who would thrive as an only pet, though she might be open to a canine companion with the right chemistry (a meet-and-greet is a must). She’s brimming with potential and just needs a chance to shine. Like many black dogs in crowded shelters, Tara is often overlooked, but she’s truly one-of-a-kind. Give her the chance she deserves—adopt Tara today and change both of your lives forever! By adopting me today you will save the life of two pets -- you'll save me and that will make room for the Shelter to rescue and save another pet.

Story
Meet Ozzy! This two-year-old boy has a lust for life that’s infectious! You can be sure that if you’re having a bad day, Ozzy will be ready to put a smile on your face. What he needs is a family to give him a loving home and put some meat on his skinny frame. He’s a happy-go-lucky boy full of playful energy like most dogs his age. Since this big boy wants to play play and play some more we recommend older kids who won’t get toppled over by his clumsiness. Ozzy loves making new friends and he’s very affectionate. Even with his playful energy, Ozzy is willing to stop for some training time and sits like an (eager) gentleman for treats. He’ll take them gently from your hand and then rush back to playtime. He seems interested in other dogs and might even be ok with cats. Further testing is needed and you can definitely bring your pup for a meet and greet. This handsome hound/lab mix is ready to be your new best friend! Come meet him today! By adopting me today you will save the life of two pets -- you'll save me and that will make room for the Shelter to rescue and save another pet.

Story
Introducing Charleston—the most charming Southern gentleman you’ll ever meet, minus the bowtie (but he’d totally rock one). This one year old black lab mix may not have come from high society, but he’s got all the class, grace, and heart-melting charm you could ever ask for. Charleston is the kind of pup who believes in the fine art of cuddling—think of him as your personal, four-legged weighted blanket with an extra dose of tail wags and soulful eyes. He’s sweet, submissive, and eager to please, always ready to trade his love for belly rubs and ear scratches. Charleston isn’t one to cause a ruckus—he’s mellow, well-mannered, and happy just being by your side. Whether you’re lounging on the couch, taking a stroll, or just enjoying a lazy Sunday, he’s the perfect companion. He seems easygoing around other pets, but if you have a dog, bring them by for a meet-and-sniff session to seal the deal. This beautiful boy was left unclaimed, but that doesn’t mean he’s unwanted—he’s just been waiting for you. Don’t leave Charleston hanging like an unsweetened tea—come scoop up this Southern sweetheart today! Meet Penny! This 4 year old black Lab may not jingle like spare change, but she’s rich in loyalty, playfulness, and charm. Recently surrendered when her elderly human couldn’t care for her anymore, Penny is now flipping the script and ready to cash in on a second chance. They love a good game of backyard tag, but Penny’s just as happy lounging beside you like a well-placed coin in your pocket — calm, dependable, and always there when you need her. Penny is outgoing without being over-the-top, sweet without being sticky, and gentle as a breeze on a spring afternoon. Story
Millie was picked up as a stray and had been at a local overcrowded shelter for three months. She is a 55 pound German shorthaired pointer mix which makes her have a unique appearance and lively personality. Millie is a larger dog with a sleek, muscular build typical of Pointers. She has a short, shiny coat that is mostly white with black patches. Her expressive brown eyes and floppy ears give her an endearing and approachable look. Millie is known for her playful and energetic nature. She loves to run and play. One of Millie’s most notable traits is her impressive fence-climbing ability. This talent first became apparent when she came to her foster home. Curious about the world beyond her yard, Millie will climb over the fence to explore the neighborhood. Her escapades led to many amusing incidents, such as surprising the neighbors by appearing in their yards. Millie will require a 6 foot fence to manage her adventurous spirit. Millie's daily routine includes morning runs, playtime at the dog park, and engaging activities like puzzle toys and obedience training. Despite her adventurous nature, Millie is well-behaved at home. She enjoys lounging in her favorite spot by the window, watching the world go by, and greeting visitors with enthusiastic tail wags. Millie is low heartworm positive and is on slow kill monthly prevention. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats.
