Story
Gordy is a fun loving, energetic lab mix, who loves affection. Gordys past living situation was outside, with many other dogs, and no vet care. Since Gordy has been rescued, he has been treated for mange, tick disease, and heartworms. He has made tremendous progress in his foster home, but is still very fearful of strangers. Gordy has a lot of personality, is a great communicator (you’ll always know exactly how he’s feeling), and plays well with other dogs, would also thrive as an only dog. Gordy gets very excited, so a home with small children or small animals will not work well for him. Gordy is about 60 pounds but thinks he is small and petite. He is neutered, walks well on a leash, knows some basic commands, and is completely house trained (those are great accomplishments in such a short time). Gordy lives for playtime and snuggling with his person, he does not like to be in a kennel. He will attach himself to the person he trusts, but this will take some time an effort to gain, but he is worth it! If you are looking for a lazy dog, he will not be the one for you. If you are looking for a best friend who adores you and is always ready to hang out, Gordy may be your perfect fit! UPDATE!! This sweet little Lab/Terrier mix is Dancer and he was dumped in rural Alabama and picked up by a Good Samaritan. he has been in foster care a few months now and is thriving. She has the sweetest little personality that will melt your heart. He is your typical happy and playful pup. She is great with all size dogs, cats and kids. He is around 7-8 old and 30ish lbs. He would be perfect for pretty much any household. He is utd, dewormed, and neutered. All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy! Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundasble $50 deposit. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. We also have full-time jobs and Families. We will try to answer all questions and applications in a timely manner. Please be patient and bear with us . Do not contact Parkway Animal Hospital as they are a vet clinic and can not answer questions on behalf of Wags and Whiskers. All questions and comments must go directly through the rescue. NEWBIE ALERT!! Meet Griswold! This handsome dude was saved from a local overcrowded shelter yesterday. He’s spent a month there and we just don’t understand how! He’s a great boy. He does well with all size dogs. He was a bit excited when he first arrived at his foster but then settled right in. He does great on a leash, in the car and in his crate. We believe he’s a Schnauzer/Lab mix. He’s around 2 years old and weighs 53 lbs. He’s a total lovebug and would be a perfect addition to any family! Story
UPDATE!!&#226&#156&#168 This beautiful boy is Meiko! He’s from a hoarding situation we assisted with a few months back. He’s a gorgeous Shepherd/Lab Mix boy. He’s 11 months old and pushing 50lbs. He’s a pretty mellow boy but does enjoy playing with other pups. Meiko is the most timid of the group but he has come so far. He likely will require a little patience while he adjust to a new environment but he’s so worth the wait. He is best suited for a calmer older home. He attaches to his person hard. He does well with older respectful children. We haven’t tested with small/toddler age because we feel they may overwhelm him. He walks well on a leash and is very smart and eager to please his foster mom. He is good motivated and is adjusting to the good life beautifully. He does well in a crate and doesn’t mind the car. Meiko is utd, dewormed and altered.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained.
