Currently Up for Adoption at GCAS 4yr old Female Spayed HeartWorm Positive (Not contagious to other dogs or humans and currently being treated) - Med Energy - good with kids - Walks GREAT on leash - Rides in the car we'll - Knows SIT and listens well - SWEET AS PIE Me and Miss Jade went on a Dogs Day Out and went to Pet Smart and she walked right past the cats didn't even bother to acknowledge them as they were out for their adoption event. AND was VERY lady like when passing by doggy friends. After a bit of shopping we went to the park and she spent a good bit walking and getting all the pets from everyone walking past or coming from the playground! She was very polite and DID NOT jump on anyone and was VERY loving and sweet to everyone including the children giving her ALL the attention! She is GREAT on a leash and loves to walk next to you and occasionally show you where she wants to go but does not pull once she's calmed down from the excitement of being out of the kennel. She listens very well and will slow down, come back, wait, get down whatever you ask her to do she will gladly oblige. She's a great listener and a fast learner! She is a LOVER GIRL!! She will give you ALL the kisses and loving!! She just wants to sit next to you or be with you and get all the pets and booty scratches." Notes from short term foster: "She is a cuddle bug so if you don't like a dog who snuggles up to you and gives you kisses, Jade is not for you!! She loves for you to play with her, especially with a rope toy. She has the perfect energy level - playful but chill when you need her to be. She prefers to be with you but will relax in her crate and sleep in it at night with no issues. She lets you know with her bark that someone has come inside. She doesn't react that much to a doorbell but someone entering the house will not sneak past her!! She is house broken. This girl recently had puppies so she's working on getting her girlish figure back!" Come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday to meet this beautiful lady!

Forest recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! "Forest's Day Out! Forest and I enjoyed a beautiful sunny day together this weekend! We explored the Sweetwater Sniffspot where he had the best time sniffing around the yard and eating treats. He played with a soft toy and a rope but wasn't too interested in playing fetch. Also, we spent some time at my parent's house where we got to explore inside and out in the backyard. We had a nice neighborhood walk and finished up our day with a nap on the couch in the sunroom - Forest is a 4 yr old, lab/pit bull, neutered male who weighs 47.5 lbs and is HW negative -Calm, sweet, and gentle boy, couldn't ask for a better dog -Did pretty well in the car, barked some but settled down quickly, no car sickness -Enjoyed treats and took them gently, knows "sit and "come for the most part, listened to directions well -Walked well on leash in the neighborhood, didn't encounter other dogs but was very interested in people in their yards, met one stranger and did excellent with them -Would make an excellent buddy!" As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. Diamond recently went on a Dog Day "Out" and here's what her DDO buddy had to say! "Diamond and I had an awesome Dog's Day In version of DDO. She was raring to go and hopped right in the car, not afraid one bit, but just couldn't contain her utter excitement long enough to understand my spiel about the safety protocols of a back seat car ride. She was a gem while I gave her belly rubs in the back seat - I just couldn't figure out how to do that and drive at the same time, but that's a me problem, not Diamond! I think she would have been fine in the car once some of her energy was released or in a crate for transportation, but we decided just to make other plans. We played lots and lots of tennis ball in the play yard. If there's a tennis ball in sight, then 'tennis ball is life'. She showed off her speed and agility, ups and pounces to get that tennis ball, and got only a little befuddled as to why she couldn't manage to hold onto two at once! If she wasn't preoccupied chasing tennis balls, then all she wanted was attention and to know what's going on, she was very curious and alert. We did lots of scritches on her back, belly rubs, butt scratches, and head massages. She loooooved pets and leaned into them. She was so sweet and very calm and content when getting the pets. Then we did bath time and she was a little timid but bravely got in on her own and then was such a good girl, not afraid of the water, and let me do a good scrub. I think she got a kick out of shaking the water off all over me! Toweling off was just more welcome pets . And she's a beauty queen! She loved the treats and was working hard on learning sit and the manners of not jumping. She took treats happily, a little clumsily but always gently. She was a hoot and incredibly happy and playful and would have no trouble keeping up with an active human. I just loved her! Isn't she gorgeous? This Diamond in the ruff (haha) - she will shine with space to play, lots of tennis balls and someone to throw them for her, and the patience, love, and affection of her humans once she finds them (you?)..." Diamond is currently being fostered by Almost Home Boarding and Grooming Facility and is available for adoption. She can be adopted directly from the facility after an approved application from GCAS has been submitted to us and you've met Diamond in person. She was so calm and sweet. Laid down in the car, went on a walk in the park, visited Petsmart, got an ice cream and had lunch at Hops. She pulls on the leash at first but then will walk with you after a few moments. She was friendly and wagging her tail whenever she saw a person or dog out and about. She let several people pet her at petsmart and Hops, had no bathroom accidents and is overall a super easy, calm wonderful dog." Labrador, Retriever 2yrs Old Neutered Male 47lbs Heartworm Negative Severus and I had a short day out yesterday and his sweet demeanor could steal your heart. Here are some key points about him that might make you fall in love even more! - Absolutely amazing in the car. Laid down almost the entire time, and would poke his head in the front every once in a while. - He is a toy lover but seems to get bored of one very quickly, so he needs options to alternate between. Most interested in strong stuffed toys. Minor interest in bully sticks and tough tennis balls. - Walks fairly well on a leash. Not quite a loose leash walker, but I wouldn't say he is a constant puller either. He falls somewhere in between. - He is very gentle when taking treats. He is a smart boy who knows sit, shake, and down. - Appears to be housetrained. - Has a good amount of energy and probably needs a home where he can run endlessly."
