Story
(DOB: 09/20/2024) Archer is a stunning, young retriever mix with a golden personality to match his smashing, good looks. He has an abundance of goofy charm, gentle affection, and he's all about endless tail-wagging joy. Still very much a puppy at heart, Archer is full of love and energy just waiting for the right family to "scoop" him up!  Though he longs to be a lap dog, and in his minds-eye, he is only 9 lbs, in reality you have to add a zero to that, so you can expect 90 lbs of love and affection coming your way. His foster family is working with him to know when he is invited versus inviting himself on the sofa to sit with/on them. If you want a big, ole snuggle bug, Archer will be happy to take on that job responsibility! Due to his size and pure zest for life, Archer's fur-ever home should have older/bigger kiddos. His foster family hasn't had an opportunity for him to meet cats, though they have been informed he did fine, so a dog-savvy cat home should be ok. Despite his size, he’s very cooperative and tends to follow you around like a big, fluffy shadow. Just be ready for the occasional case of the “zoomies” — he’s  still got all that puppy-zeal after all! He may jump in excitement, especially when meeting new people or during play, but he’s not a habitual jumper. He has a soft mouth and takes treats very gently. He absolutely LOVES car ride, but he will crawl into the front seat if not safely buckled in. He must be crated or secured with a back-clip harness and seatbelt for everyone’s safety. At the vet, he was understandably nervous but remained sweet and tolerant. Doggie-day camp was new to him, he had a successful day camp visit where he met two well-socialized dogs. While it was clear Archer hasn’t had much experience playing with other dogs, he did well and showed curiosity and gentle interest. So, Archer would do fine as an only dog or with larger, sweet, loving other doggie siblings. Speaking of jumping, Archer needs a home with a fenced yard (5ft+) because he loves to have fun running, romping & playing around. Archer is crate-trained. He’s quiet, especially if music is playing, and he has a few chew toys to keep him company. He’s not an excessive barker; he’ll let out a bark or two if there’s unfamiliar activity outside or if he needs to go out for a potty break. Around dinner time, Archer does best with a consistent feeding routine. If not fed before your dinner, he’ll let you know with some barking and a stuffed Kong usually does the trick. Archer is still mastering loose leash walking skills and would love a family to take him on daily strolls or just "mozeying about" the backyard. Archer is a special dog looking for a special home — one that can offer consistency, patience, and love. He needs someone strong enough to handle a large dog and willing to guide him as he grows into his full potential. To help with the transition, three complimentary training sessions will be provided to his adopters. If you think your family could be the perfect match for Archer, we’d love to hear from you. He’s ready to bring joy, cuddles, and companionship into your life — and maybe even a few laughs with his silly zoomies and car-ride antics! Videos available upon request. As part of Archer's $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Archer, you can complete an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2545710##

Story
Meet Reece! Reece is 7 months old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home with you! If we were allowed the use “Lab” as an adjective, noun, and verb, we would describe him as the labbiest lab to ever lab. Reece loves water (splashing in it, swimming in it, drinking it, etc), meeting new people, playing with other dogs, fetching after his stuffed cow toy, and going for long walks. He is doing a great job with crate training, house training, and leash walking. Like any puppy, it will be your responsibility to keep working with him on these things but we believe he is well on his way to being an excellent dog. Reece is a super lovable goofball that will fit in well to any active home. He has not lived with cats before but we believe he would be fine with a proper introduction and supervision. His biggest vices are counter surfing and overexcitement when passing other dogs on walks so please be ready to address those with him. This guy has a big golden heart and can’t wait to meet you!

Need to snuggle a little on a rainy day? Ask no more. Imogene is waiting on the sofa. Nothing like a bestie to do life with. Imogene is just waiting to be your bestie!
