Hi everyone! Nice to meet y’all! I’m Sammy. My foster mom said I needed to write a bio about myself… really put myself out there and tell the world who I am! So here goes nothing. I was found at the beginning of December roaming a trail with a buddy. I was shy and scared at first. I didn’t know what was happening or where I was. I didn’t know how to trust because someone who took care of me before wasn’t very nice to me. Luckily, my foster mom knew I just needed some TLC and made sure to know I was going to be looked after. Since joining my foster mom’s pack- which includes a stepbrother and sister, and 2 feline companions, I’ve really come out of my shell and showed my foster mom what I’m capable of! I’m a neutered, 1 year old lab/hound mix. Weighing around 53lbs and still growing, I’m looking for my forever family and a place to call home! I know basic commands such as sit, shake, stay, and wait. Mom makes me sit and wait for my food. I’m not a fan and will roll my eyes at you, but I’ll do anything for food or treats! I sleep in an x- pen at night with a large comfy bed, which I absolutely love. I also know that my potties are done outside. Although- don’t you make me go outside in the rain. I am NOT a fan. I’m a true bone guy myself. I like the stuffies too, but my foster momma says I don’t know how not to eat the little pieces I chew off, so she doesn’t let me have them anymore. Since I’m a growing boy and have a lot of energy, I’d do best in a home with a large fenced in yard so I can run and play. It’s my favorite! I would also prefer older kids to play with. I get excited to play and sometimes don’t realize my size. Plus, I think the older kids can keep up with me better. They don’t call me Sammy Bammie for nothing! I’m still learning my leash etiquette, although I’m making excellent progress if I do say so myself. I don’t pull and I listen when told to stop. I’m just so excited that I sometimes can’t decide which side I want to stay on. Mom also took me to the dog park a few times and I’m a BIG fan! I’m learning this game called fetch and it’s AWESOME! I bet your thinking I sound PAW-FECT, but my foster momma says I do have a few topics that need some addressing… I have a bad habit of wanting to run away if I can sneak out. Not sure why I do this or where I am going, but I think if my new mom or dad worked with me some more, Ill understand that this will only land me in trouble and get me lost. Since I like to run, I also think having a running partner would be fun! We can work on our fitness goals together! I’ve known to dig a time or two, but I’m learning this is a BIG no-no. I may or may not think I’m a lap dog. Overall, I’m an awesome guy. I really want to find my forever Hooman. I know Ill make a great companion. Whether we are playing outside or cuddling on the couch, I promise there I will love you endlessly. Jade recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what her DDO buddy had to say! "Meet Jade! Currently Up for Adoption at GCAS 4yr old Female Spayed HeartWorm Positive (Not contagious to other dogs or humans and currently being treated) - Med Energy - good with kids - Walks GREAT on leash - Rides in the car we'll - Knows SIT and listens well - SWEET AS PIE Me and Miss Jade went on a Dogs Day Out and went to Pet Smart and she walked right past the cats didn't even bother to acknowledge them as they were out for their adoption event. AND was VERY lady like when passing by doggy friends. After a bit of shopping we went to the park and she spent a good bit walking and getting all the pets from everyone walking past or coming from the playground! She was very polite and DID NOT jump on anyone and was VERY loving and sweet to everyone including the children giving her ALL the attention! She is GREAT on a leash and loves to walk next to you and occasionally show you where she wants to go but does not pull once she's calmed down from the excitement of being out of the kennel. She listens very well and will slow down, come back, wait, get down whatever you ask her to do she will gladly oblige. She's a great listener and a fast learner! She is a LOVER GIRL!! She will give you ALL the kisses and loving!! She just wants to sit next to you or be with you and get all the pets and booty scratches." Notes from short term foster: "She is a cuddle bug so if you don't like a dog who snuggles up to you and gives you kisses, Jade is not for you!! She loves for you to play with her, especially with a rope toy. She has the perfect energy level - playful but chill when you need her to be. She prefers to be with you but will relax in her crate and sleep in it at night with no issues. She lets you know with her bark that someone has come inside. She doesn't react that much to a doorbell but someone entering the house will not sneak past her!! She is house broken. This girl recently had puppies so she's working on getting her girlish figure back!" Come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday to meet this beautiful lady!
