Story
About Boone. We adopted him as a puppy 4 years ago. We have a male senior dog, another large breed female dog, and a male cat. Boone did great with all of the animals (first year). Soon after he started showing some possessiveness over me when the other animals would approach. It was intermittent and we blew it off. In his second year he got into a fight with a family member’s visiting dog. (We all are animal lovers). From there it’s been occasional growling at grandkids (when he’s nervous) and when he’s on my lap, he doesn’t like the other animals vying for the attention. He’s 4 years old now and 90% of the time, he is wonderful. He’s silly and playful, smart and loving. Recently, he went after our 16 y/o dog just because he approached (Boone growled and lunged). He has never actually bitten, but gets really territorial over his humans. Sadly, it’s causing too much stress on elder dog. He would be perfect for home with no other pets or young children. Must have fenced yard.

Story
Meet Dune: a loving, energetic one-year-old Lab mix who’s always ready for an adventure. Dune is the perfect size for an active family looking for a loyal companion. Dune loves being around his people and quickly forms strong bonds. Whether it’s going for a walk, hopping in the car for a ride, or playing with his favorite hard chew toys, he’s happiest when he’s part of the action. He has a high energy level, so he would do best in a home that enjoys staying active and can give him plenty of exercise and playtime. Dune has already completed training and earned his AKC All-Star Puppy certification. Dune knows several commands including sit, stay, wait, and come, and he’s very treat-motivated, which makes continuing his training fun and rewarding. He walks nicely with a step in harness and loves getting outside to explore. While he isn’t aggressive, he does like to chase cats so he would do best in a home without cats. He is house trained and partially crate trained as well.

Story
Raven is a sweet Black Lab mix who was recently surrendered to FDHS through no fault of his own. He’s been settling in nicely and has been friendly with our staff and volunteers. Raven really enjoys getting out for walks and spending some quiet time with his people. He’s a smart boy who already knows a few commands and walks well on leash. He seems eager to please and is great company whether you’re out for a stroll or just hanging out. We were told he’s done well with other animals and could be a great fit for many different types of families. Raven is accepting adoption applications and looking for a fresh start and a place to call home.

Story
Sugar is as sweet as her name suggests! This pretty girl recently arrived at FDHS alongside her friend Spice (who is also available!). Sugar greets her caregivers with the happiest little smile and a wagging tail, always ready to bounce into the day with her cheerful energy. She seems genuinely excited about everything, whether it’s playtime, a walk, or just saying hello.Since she previously lived with another dog, we think Sugar would likely do well with a canine companion in her new home. We’re not sure how she feels about cats just yet, but with slow, proper introductions, we think she could adjust just fine.Sugar also keeps a nice, tidy space in her kennel and would just need a bit of practice polishing up her leash manners. She is currently accepting applications to find her forever home!**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 55 lbs**
