Story
Meet Daisy 🌼This sweet, powdered doughnut faced older lady is Daisy. We estimate her to be about 8 years old and to be a labrador retriever mix of sorts. She came in as a stray that was unfortunately never reclaimed, so we have no clue what her life was like prior to coming here. That said, one thing is for sure: she’s a sweetheart of a dog who deserves to have a comfy place to call her retirement home. Now listen, she’s still got a bit of that stubborn, never-want-to-slow-down labrador energy, but her equivalent of zoomies is basically having a short burst of speed with a toy and then coming and plopping right back down in a warm spot in the yard or a comfy couch. If you’re wanting a dog who will join you on a hike but also be a couch potato with you while you’re binging your favorite TV show, Daisy here would be a perfect fit. Daisy has done well with everyone she has met. Obviously she does well with all humans she has met. Other dogs? She tends to mind her own business and not really pay them much mind. Typical old lady dog behavior. Same with cats, she doesn’t give them the time of day. She’s a sweet old gal who simply just wants a comfy place to lay down and call her own - and she’s happy to share that space and all the love she gets with anyone else. She’s a lovely gal who will fit right into any sort of dynamic or family. She just wants one to call hers. 🐾

Meet Max!Max's story hasn't been an easy one, but his loving personality has shined through every challenge. He came from the same place as Kane after being left outside by his owner without proper food or shelter. When he arrived, Max was underweight and in need of care.Max needed some medical attention, including treatment for a double ear infection. Despite the discomfort he had been through, Max was such a good boy for his care. He actually loved having his ears treated and handled it like a champ, showing just how trusting and sweet he is. He also tested positive for Lyme disease and had a heartworm-positive scare, but thankfully his test was sent out to the lab and confirmed that Max is heartworm negative.Through it all, Max has remained an amazing dog. He is friendly, affectionate, and great with everyone he meets. He does wonderfully with other dogs, and his compatibility with cats is currently unknown.Max is a resilient boy who deserves a fresh start with a family who will give him the love, comfort, and security he has always needed. He has so much love to give and is ready to be someone’s loyal companion and best friend.Could Max be the missing piece in your family? An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
Meet Max! ❤️Max's journey hasn't been an easy one. He was found as a stray in Auburn during the summer heat, and Animal Control reached out to see if we could take him in and get him out of the dangerous temperatures. After scanning his microchip, we discovered something heartbreaking—Max had originally been adopted from a rescue, but somewhere along the way, the person who adopted him abandoned him, leaving him to fend for himself.Despite everything he's been through, Max hasn't let it change his loving spirit. He is an incredibly sweet, affectionate boy who enjoys being around people and is ready to find a family that will truly love him for the rest of his life. You may notice a small mass on Max's lip. He will be seen by a veterinarian to have it evaluated. Until then, Max isn't letting it slow him down. He's a happy, loving boy who is simply looking for a family to call his own.Max has already experienced what it's like to be let down by someone he trusted. Now he deserves to know what it feels like to be cherished, protected, and loved for the rest of his life.Could you be the one to give Max the happy ending he's been waiting for?An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt.
