His owner recently had a stroke and can no longer handle his strength, which is why he needs to be rehomed.Smokey is a very sweet, playful boy. He loves to play ball, run around, give kisses, and soak up attention. He’s crate trained, house trained, and will bark when he needs to go outside. He does well being left alone for a few hours and settles in his crate.✨ What Smokey Needs:A family who will play with him and give him the attention he loves.Smokey is a really good dog with lots of love and energy to share. He just needs a fresh start with someone who can keep up with him.Please give this perfect boy a home.An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. THIS IS A VERY CHALLENGING DOG. We do not know the full breed, we do know he is part Lab, he was a rescue approximately 3-4 years ago. He is very friendly to people once he gets to know you but very shy and nervous around strangers. He barks ... a lot... has nipped at unfamiliar children before, never bitten down. He recently began attacking our other dog during feeding times forcing us to separate them. He pees whenever someone tries to touch him. When someone new comes into the home he barks and pees, becomes terrified and does not listen, when attempting to grab him to move outside he pees more and defecates. This has made having him in our home untenable. We have tried multiple trainers without success. It can be very difficult to have guests or have any of our kids friends over. Ultimately we have tried for close to 4 years and can no longer care for him. This is a last resort before euthanasia.
