Maple came to us a mess about a year ago. She was extremely reactive and just acted like an overcaffeinated toddler all the time. We were quite worried about her ability to make it. She lost tons of weight in the shelter and started injuring herself. She is gorgeous and sweet and loves attention but she was also a live-wire. Thanks to the amazing work of two of our fosters, she came a long long way. She is calmer and easier now and adored by her foster families. She is urgent since she has been with us for a very long time and her current foster can only keep her for so long. We know from experience that she will not be able to come back to the shelter since she won't be able to sustain the stress and injure herself there - as she has done before. If you adopt her, she will love to run and play in the yard for hours and then snuggle up on the couch with you. She will need to be the only dog in the home and she will not be the dog who you want to take on walks at the park. So and adult only home in a calm neighborhood or a with a fenced yard will be ideal. Ready to meet her? Let us know! Chloe is a beautiful black lab female, 3 years old and in perfect health living with an older couple. Despite having a substantial fenced in yard, call of the wild is strong with this girl. She escapes the yard and bothers the neighbors dogs. Now the bad part - we live on a main road, well trafficked with speeding vehicles. Chloe invariably ends up on the road and has had many close calls with fast cars. Despite my attempts to keep her chained in the yard, my wife, who suffers from dementia, is constantly leaving doors to the outside open and the dog takes off. Chloe simply loves little kids and is a gentle soul, as long as you are not our neighbors Yorkie. Will break my heart to give her up but hurt far worse if she ends up dead on the road like my beloved Golden Retriever 4 years ago. For someone younger with the willingness to train her, Chloe would be a marvelous dog. We have just run out of the energy to chase her.

Hi, I’m Georgie - a sweet, steady girl with a soft heart, a quiet nature, and a very happy smile. I’m over year old, 54 pounds, and I’ve already mastered one very important skill - learning to love life. I’m kind, calm in my space, and the sort of dog who does not need to be the center of the drama. Even when the dogs around me are putting on a whole performance, I stay pleasant and mind my business. Pretty cool, huh? I’m a Lab mix, which means I’ve got a nice blend of gentle sweetness and bright, loyal companionship. Once I settle in with new dogs, everything is just fine. I’m the kind of girl who seems to take things in stride and would love a home where I can exhale, feel safe, and show you more of my loving personality every day. A little about me - I was found in March of 2026 abandoned, tied to a tree. A real nice lady who worked at a shelter in Kentucky took me in for food, warm blankets and I got to meet a very nice vet who gave me a clean bill of health. Now, with that being said, I have grown leaps and bounds since that scared pup tied to a tree. You may have even seen me on the website before - I was adopted back in July but it turns out, they weren't the right family for me. I'm currently in a loving foster home that is helping me learn that there are wonderful people in the world, billions of toys that need my attention, and so many sticks to chew on! I've put my past behind me and ready for my forever home! Since I am still young and learning how big and wonderful the world can be, I am looking for a confident, calm, and gentle leader to adopt me. With the right thoughtful guidance and structure, I know I'll develop into the absolute best dog I can be! Hi, I’m Kunitz, and around here I’ve earned a bit of a reputation as the social butterfly. I’m a 2½-year-old, 55-pound Lab mix who believes strangers are really just friends I haven’t met yet. I’m a happy, affectionate guy, and the volunteers will tell you I’ve become one of their favorites. I can’t help it, I just really like people! I’ve lived in a busy family home before and loved being part of the action. I’m housetrained and crate trained, and I’m great with kids. I’ve also done very well with my dog buddies, who shared my kennel during my stay before coming to Happy Bark. When it’s time for a walk, I may start out with some extra enthusiasm because I’m just so excited to be going somewhere with you, but I settle down quickly. Ava is a very good six year old dog that is treat motivated. When I got her I thought my ex and I could care for her as a family but it ended up just me, Ava, and our daughter. I cannot afford Ava’s vet fees, or the cost of allergy medication (Ava has allergies, and is very good at finding scraps that she shouldn’t have). She is high energy, excited and loves to play, but can also relax at home.She pulls when walking unless I have treats. She’s been really good with my daughter and kids around the neighborhood and if I could afford to keep her and had the time to care for her so would.I’m looking for a forever home where someone can afford her bills, and have time to take her on a few long walks every day, and play with her!
