Maple came to us a mess about a year ago. She was extremely reactive and just acted like an overcaffeinated toddler all the time. We were quite worried about her ability to make it. She lost tons of weight in the shelter and started injuring herself. She is gorgeous and sweet and loves attention but she was also a live-wire. Thanks to the amazing work of two of our fosters, she came a long long way. She is calmer and easier now and adored by her foster families. She is urgent since she has been with us for a very long time and her current foster can only keep her for so long. We know from experience that she will not be able to come back to the shelter since she won't be able to sustain the stress and injure herself there - as she has done before. If you adopt her, she will love to run and play in the yard for hours and then snuggle up on the couch with you. She will need to be the only dog in the home and she will not be the dog who you want to take on walks at the park. So and adult only home in a calm neighborhood or a with a fenced yard will be ideal. Ready to meet her? Let us know! Hi, I'm Daisy! I'm a 3 year Lab/Pointer mix, weighing 55 pounds, and apparently I have a talent for making people fall in love with me! I was a staff favorite at Happy Bark's partner shelter, and now I'm winning over everyone at Happy Bark, too! Want to hear something cool? While I was waiting for my forever family, some wonderful police officers invited me to spend a day at work with them so I could enjoy a break from the shelter! I took my job very seriously, greeting everyone in the office, collecting hugs, and making sure nobody went without a smile. By the time my shift was over, I was absolutely exhausted! Apparently, being the office sweetheart is hard work! I'm a happy, affectionate girl who gets along wonderfully with other dogs. In fact, I'm so good with them that I even help the shelter staff see how other dogs interact! I'm housebroken, love being around people, and have some pretty impressive athletic abilities. I might even be a natural at agility! I'll need a secure yard because I'm clever enough to investigate whether a fence can be climbed. I had a family of my own, but when they moved and couldn't take all their dogs, I found myself looking for a new home. I'd love an active family who will include me in their everyday adventures and help me continue learning. Most of all, I want someone who loves giving hugs as much as I love receiving them! Hi, I’m Kunitz, and around here I’ve earned a bit of a reputation as the social butterfly. I’m a 2½-year-old, 55-pound Lab mix who believes strangers are really just friends I haven’t met yet. I’m a happy, affectionate guy, and the volunteers will tell you I’ve become one of their favorites. I can’t help it, I just really like people! I’ve lived in a busy family home before and loved being part of the action. I’m housetrained and crate trained, and I’m great with kids. I’ve also done very well with my dog buddies, who shared my kennel during my stay before coming to Happy Bark. When it’s time for a walk, I may start out with some extra enthusiasm because I’m just so excited to be going somewhere with you, but I settle down quickly.
