Story
I got her when she was a puppy off an adoption thing on Facebook. The story was they took her from a guy that beat them. She was the last out of her littler to survive. She doesn’t take to guys to well because of it. She is such a good dog, my son has Tourette syndrome and severe anxiety, she always would cuddle up to him to calm him down. Would also come to my side when my ex was hurting me. She is so beautiful and an amazing dog. She deserves the best, love and compassion. She tends to get a little rough with cats when she tries to play. She loves fishing trips and car rides. Very energetic. I moved due to relocation as a dv survivor and I can’t keep her. Would love to stay in touch with whoever can take her, occasionally send treats and just check up on her as me and my boys got very attached to her. Thank you for reading ❤️

Story
Weight: 63Lbs Scout – Reporting for Doody! 🐾🎾 Looking for a four-legged friend with big energy, big love, and even bigger belly rolls? Meet Scout, the black Lab mix who’s part dog, part marshmallow, and all heart. He may be a little round on the edges, but that just means there’s more of him to love (and more surface area for belly rubs). Scout’s hobbies include: Fetching like his life depends on it (even if it's just a leaf) Spreading joy and drool in equal measure Mooching snacks with the precision of a professional treat tactician He’s bubbly, boisterous, and believes every visitor is just a new best friend who hasn’t been tackled with kisses yet. Scout’s the kind of dog who enters a room like he’s on a pup-arazzi red carpet—tail wagging, smile beaming, and totally unaware of personal space. His motto? "Work hard, nap harder, fetch always." His shape? Somewhere between a cuddly potato and a meatloaf in motion. His talent? Ball retrieval, comedic timing, and impersonating a weighted blanket. Scout isn’t just a good boy—he’s the best boy in all 7 belly scratch zones. If you’re ready for a life full of laughter, love, and a lot of slobbery tennis balls, Scout’s your guy. Dogs: Yes, we recommend a meet and greet to make sure all dogs get along! Cats: Yes, although slow and steady wins the race! Kids: kiddos 10+ for this scout!!

Story
Weight: 78LBS Meet Pearl — the girl with the golden soul and a heart full of hope. Pearl is a Lab Retriever mix who has known more pain than any dog ever should. Life hasn’t been kind to her — her body tells a story of neglect and hardship, with much of her fur missing and her eyes carrying the weight of what she’s survived. But despite it all, this brave girl still wags her tail gently when you speak kindly to her. Still leans in for soft pets, still believes in love. She may look a little different right now, but beauty radiates from her in a way no coat ever could. Her skin is healing, her spirit is blooming, and all she wants is a quiet, patient home where she can rest, recover, and learn what it truly means to be safe. Pearl is a reminder that the most precious things in life aren’t always polished or perfect — sometimes, they’re survivors with soft eyes, quiet strength, and a heart that keeps choosing love. Give Pearl the life she’s always deserved. She’s been waiting her whole life for someone like you. 🐾 DOGS: Yes, we recommend a meet and greet! Cats: Unknown Kids: Unknown, we recommend older kiddos with this sweet gal!!

Story
🎧 Meet Daria 🎧She’s not mad — she’s just disappointed. Daria is the brooding intellectual of the bunch. She stares into your soul while the others wrestle like caffeinated squirrels. Don’t be fooled, though: she’s got a sneaky streak and will absolutely steal a flip-flop and then act like you’re the one being dramatic. She’s dry, she’s sarcastic, and she’s still somehow the most lovable little weirdo in the room. These ladies are about 10 weeks old, likely to grow to 45–50 pounds, and are already experts at puppy-level destruction with affection. Sweet, sassy, and a little unhinged — in the best way.💻 Apply now to adopt at dekalbhumanesociety.org/adoptThey’re spunky, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to run your household. An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. 💥 Meet Kim Possible 💥She can do anything… especially if “anything” includes destroying a plush toy in 0.5 seconds, sneaking off with your socks, and giving you those puppy-dog eyes that make it impossible to stay mad. Kim’s got confidence, sass, and a serious case of the wiggles. She's the first one to start the chaos — and the first to melt into your lap for snuggles after. Just don’t leave your phone unattended… she might try to text Rufus. An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt.
