She’s a sweet affectionate doggy. She a year old. She’s mostly potty trained but she struggles holding her potty in when I’m at work. She also struggles signaling that she needs to go outside. It’s mostly if she’s sniffing around then hurry. OR ask her frequently and take her out frequently if you don’t have like a doggy door. That’s the only thing I have struggled with. She’s the most perfect dog otherwise! She’s playful with occasional zoomies lol and she loves cuddles all the time too! She plays with the cat and other dogs too. Super friendly! She does act protective of the home for like 2 seconds and if the person is okay then she’s okay too. She is a quick learner of commands when treats are involved. I don’t have a fenced yard and she doesn’t run off if let out off a leash. She stays close to you and everything! She’s really great other than the potty issues. But it’s probably a me problem as I have health issues and a very busy schedule. She deserves a better home!

Rory has made tremendous steps in working around men. One of her walkers is a male and she does great with him. Still a bit shy around new people but once she warms up shes so smart and funny. Does not do well around livestock.

Story
Raven has been with us at FDHS for a little while now, and the verdict is in: he is truly the Goodest Boy. This sweet Black Lab mix came to us through no fault of his own, and every day he proves what a wonderful companion he’ll make for a lucky family. Raven has never met a stranger. Staff, volunteers, new friends passing by his kennel… everyone gets the same happy, gentle greeting. Raven is an absolute gentleman whether he’s out on leash or enjoying time in the fenced yard. He knows quite a few commands already and is very snack-motivated, which makes him a fun and eager learner. His favorite activities include long walks and playing ball until his heart’s content. He doesn’t seem to mind the other shelter dogs and would likely do just fine in a home with cats, too. Basically, if there were a gold medal for being a well-rounded, lovable dog, Raven would already be polishing it. He’s been such a joy to have around, and we would love nothing more than to see him finally land a home of his own. Raven is currently accepting adoption applications and patiently waiting for his fresh start. **Neutered, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 70 lbs**

Sugar is as sweet as her name suggests! This pretty girl recently arrived at FDHS alongside her friend Spice (who is also available!). Sugar greets her caregivers with the happiest little smile and a wagging tail, always ready to bounce into the day with her cheerful energy. She seems genuinely excited about everything, whether it’s playtime, a walk, or just saying hello.Since she previously lived with another dog, we think Sugar would likely do well with a canine companion in her new home. We’re not sure how she feels about cats just yet, but with slow, proper introductions, we think she could adjust just fine.Sugar also keeps a nice, tidy space in her kennel and would just need a bit of practice polishing up her leash manners.She is currently accepting applications to find her forever home!**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 55 lbs**

Fonzi has been looking for someone for a long time. We don’t know exactly where he came from, only that one day he was left behind—and he didn’t understand why. Witnesses say this sweet chocolate-brown puppy ran after every passing car, tiny paws pounding against the pavement, eyes full of hope. He thought one of them might be his person coming back. He kept chasing, kept searching, because that’s what loyal hearts do… they don’t give up. But eventually, Fonzi grew tired. When he was finally brought to safety, he didn’t bark or growl or shy away. He just leaned in. As if to say, “Oh… there you are. I’ve been waiting.” Fonzi is everything you want in a best friend—gentle, affectionate, and so incredibly loving it almost aches. He has the softest eyes, the kind that seem to ask for nothing but closeness. He’ll rest his head on your knee like it’s always belonged there, and when you pet him, his whole body melts like he’s been holding onto that moment forever. He still watches cars sometimes. Just for a second. Then he looks back at you, as if he’s learning something new—that maybe the person he’s been searching for isn’t out there anymore. Maybe… it’s you. Fonzi deserves a home where he’ll never be left behind again. A home where “forever” isn’t just a word, but a promise kept every single day. He doesn’t need perfection—just someone who will stay. If you have room in your heart for a puppy who has loved and lost but still believes, Fonzi is waiting. And this time, he’s hoping the search finally ends. Fonzi is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations and flea/tick/heartworm preventative. He is a smart boy who is eager to please, and is working on mastering housebreaking in his foster home.
