Story
?BEAR / 10 yrs / Male / Yellow Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever mix? / 60 lbs (27 kgs) / Currently fostered in Roseneath, ONMajor medical concerns: gastric ulcer - he thrives best in a calm, low-stress environmentMeet Bear, a wise and wonderful 10-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever mix from Roseneath, ON, whose golden spirit is as warm and comforting as a sunny afternoon nap. Weighing in at about 60 pounds, Bear is the kind of dog who’s mastered the art of living gently—he’s quiet, clever, and always ready for a peaceful stroll or a cozy cuddle with his favorite toy.Bear’s gentle nature and calm demeanor are perfect companions for someone who appreciates life’s quieter moments. He’s house and crate trained, walks like a dream on leash, and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement. With excellent recall and zero interest in resource guarding, Bear is the kind of trustworthy buddy you’ll never have to second-guess.Bear does have a gastric ulcer, so he thrives best in a calm, low-stress environment. His ideal day? A relaxing walk in nature, a bit of playtime with his favorite toy, a tasty meal followed by classical or country tunes (his two favorite genres), and a long, satisfying nap in a comfy bed. He enjoys meeting other dogs on walks but would prefer to be the only dog in the home so he can fully enjoy his golden years in peace. While he’s friendly with people one-on-one, Bear is not one for crowds or hustle and bustle. He’s hoping to find a home with a dog-experienced, gentle-hearted person who can offer clear rules, consistency, and lots of outdoor adventures. A rural or suburban setting with green space and a fully fenced yard would be his paradise.Bear doesn’t need chaos—just someone who values calm companionship, loves outdoor time, and believes that joy can come from the simple things: a quiet walk, a kind word, and a soft place to rest.Could your peaceful home be the one where Bear can continue to shine?Neutered / Microchipped / Vaccinations up to date**PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED - https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/*

***REMINDER:  Please read the bio requirements and only fill in the application if you can meet ALL requirements. Due to the number of applications being received for each dog, we are only able to contact the applicants who have met ALL the listed Requirements*** Name/Tag#: Chili 4494 Age: 5.5 months Sex/Altered: Male/ Neutered Weight: 21 lbs Breed: Visla/Rhodesian/Lab mix Foster Home Location:  LONDON, ON Adoption Fee: $850.00 Temperament: Sweet, Curious, Playful, Friendly, Sensitive Activity/Energy Level: Medium energy – typical puppy Up to date on Shots: Yes Housebroken: 90 % (occasionally uses pee pads in the house) Crate Trained: Yes, but does not use Ok with Dogs: Yes Ok with Cats: Unknown Ok with Kids: Yes, kids 6+ years Origin: Shelter/Rescue Requirements: Securely fenced yard, someone home most of the time, a companion dog in the home, no kids under 6 years   And now, a few words from my foster mom: Chili’s siblings have found their forever homes, and now this 5.5-month-old heartthrob is ready for his turn. Trust us—he’s worth the wait. Chili is a mellow dude with just the right dash of puppy mischief. Chili lives up to his name in the best way: he’s mostly sweet and mild, with just a tiny kick of spice. Think cozy comfort food with the occasional surprise zing. He’s potty trained (gold star &#226&#173&#144), super cuddly, and devastatingly handsome. He has a silly side that comes out in playful bursts. After his brief spicy moments, Chili’s favorite activity is curling up as close as possible to his person, proving that his true flavor is 100% love. He loves pets and cuddles and will gladly roll onto his back for belly rubs and will reward you with a big toothy smile! He’s still learning the fine art of leash walking (currently more “creative freestyle” than polished stroll), and he can be a little shy when meeting new people. That said, once you’re in his circle, you’re in—Chili is incredibly loyal and forms strong bonds with his people. He will greet you with the most amazing wiggles and cuddles and can’t wait to be your couch buddy.  During the day, Chili hangs out at his foster parent’s law office, where he takes his job very seriously. He gladly takes on the role of greeting visitors and boosting morale with his good looks and he has proven to be everyone’s favorite co-worker. In the afternoons Chili has learned to spend some time alone at home with his foster pup siblings and has been very well behaved.  At night, Chili sleeps through till morning—curled up on his human’s bed, of course, because why would royalty sleep anywhere else? Chili is food-motivated (training = snacks = happiness), great with other dogs, and while he hasn’t met cats yet, he’s open to expanding his social résumé. Chili has not had much exposure to younger children at this point, so is a little apprehensive, and given he is a puppy, he would likely do better with children over the age of 6. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate puppy with a mild temperament, a little spark of mischief, and a whole lot of heart, Chili is ready to bring just the right amount of spice to your life.
