Story
He might not have electric boots or a mohair suit, but our Benny is one of a kind! Benny is an 8 month old neutered male Labrador Retriever mix who came into the shelter as a stray but was never claimed. Benny definitely likes to jet - he will need an active, experienced owner to tire him out and help him be the best Benny that he can be!This high energy boy will need someone with experience in basic training, especially working with him on his leash skills and his tendency to mouth at arms and clothing and to jump up excitedly on people. When working with staff during training sessions, Benny surprised everyone and did very well! Shelter staff think that at some point in his `puppyhood` Benny attended some basic obedience classes, but we unfortunately cannot confirm this! Benny is very food-motivated, and tends to have better focus on commands when there is a reward in it for him (if ever a dog needed a t-shirt with `will work for treats` emblazoned on the back, Benny is THAT dog). Unfortunately, once treats are taken out of the equation, Benny tends to lose focus and `forget` his manners. With additional training, we think that he will learn to be more consistent! Luckily, this boy will provide enough love and laughs in the meantime to make him worth the effort! If you think you can handle the loveable smiling Benny, contact the East Region shelter at 416-338-7539!

Story
!!! LOOKING FOR A FUREVER HOME !!! LILY | F | 1.5 YRS | Lab/Canaan x Kids - >14, YES Adults - YES Dogs - YES Cats/Birds/Small Critters - NO Lily, or BILLS! - as her foster mom likes to call her - is one of the sweetest girls we have ever met! She is low to medium energy, enjoys romping around with her dog pals, does amazing at doggy day care and is a happy and polite girl! She is a little hesitant when meeting new people, and may use her voice to bark and ask for space - but within a few minutes and some liver bites, she will be jumping for joy being in your presence! Her ideal home would be outside of the busy city, as she likes a calm and relaxed environment surrounded by nature! Although she does like to chase squirrels and bunnies and bikes, so a treat pouch and redirection will keep her focussed on her hooman. Her being of medium-size and energy level makes her a great candidate for a house or condo-living too! She is very low-key at home, is crate trained, and just passed her intermediate behavioural training with flying colours! Although initially afraid of cars, she is now embracing car rides (although still likes to be carried into one, lol). She is very food motivated and eager to please. She would be an amazing companion to a single person, or a couple who is looking for a snuggle buddy who would enjoy a few walks a day and some backyard playdates or doggy day care few times a week. For a young dog especially, she is as low-maintenance as they come 🙂 She enjoys playing with other dogs, but needs a minute to warm up to new dogs she meets. She prefers to meet off-leash vs. on-leash where she has the freedom to interact at her own pace and freely! She was previously thought to have 'only child syndrome' when it comes to the idea of having fursiblings, but it turns out she just has a preference... she gets along great with smaller breed males in the home and takes on the role of big sis/mom and its the most adorable thing we have ever seen 😍 Lily has been spayed, health checked, and up to date on all vaccinations and is more than ever ready to find her furever home! Thanks to her AMAZING foster mom, she had the softest landing and has learned a lot of skills and basic training and how it feels to be a cherished member of a family. She's ready to steal your heart and home. Who's looking for a little Lily in their life? 😍 Iff you live within 2 - 3 hours of Toronto and are interested in meeting sweet Lily and learning about our foster to adopt trial program, please email our rescue at c4ptoronto@gmail.com.

!!! LOOKING FOR A FUREVER HOME !!! MOLLY | F | 1 YR | LAB/HOUND x | 55LBS KIDS? (not tested) but > 12 dog savvy - yes CATS? No DOGS? (limited testing) more comfortable with females From her biggest fan: "Meet the most perfectly freckled, beautiful, bouncy and joyful girl in the world - Molly! She is a true gem of a dog, although you may not fully know it upon first meeting her - as she tends to be a bit shy or unsure during first hellos! But those who have visited multiples times and spent time with Molly girl know just what a beautiful girl she is - inside and out🥰. Molly was found as a stray, abandoned at a museum and tied to the railings until our rescue partner found her and took her in to their shelter. She was only 8 months old then too. It was apparent that she had a tough time trusting people because she likely didn't have many positive experiences up until then - but that's when things changed for the positive for Molly and continues to now.... but she just needs that forever family to call her own to make her feel safe and loved for a lifetime! She has spent considerable time working with a trainer - both at her shelter, and currently - and is doing AMAZING! She is soooooooo smart! She has aced 'Sit', 'Down', 'Leave it', 'Stay', 'Gimme a kiss' and 'Come'. I'm sure she would even do your taxes or fold your laundry if you taught it to her with some tasty treats in hand, because she is very very VERY food motivated 🙂. The sure way to Molly's heart are through liver bites and chest scratches 🥰. She hasn't had much practice with leashed walks, but she much prefers to bounce around in a fenced in yard anyhow. Her ideal home would be in a quieter setting, a human/family who has a flexible schedule or works from home/is home, and have a fenced in backyard for her to run around and hang out in. She has SO much love to give and would be a fantastic addition to a family looking for a companion dog who needs a little extra TLC and confidence building." Molly has been spayed, health checked, and up to date on all vaccinations and is more than ever ready to find her furever home! Thanks to her AMAZING foster family, she had the softest landing and has learned a lot of skills and basic training and how it feels to be a cherished member of a family. She's ready to steal your heart and home. Who's looking for a little Molly in their life? 😍 If you would like to meet Molly in her Toronto area foster home and learn more about her and our foster to adopt program, please email our rescue at c4ptoronto@gmail.com.

This beauty is such a special girl - a sweetheart through and through. She is always happy and soooo gentle. She plays beautifully with every dog and loves every person. She just wants to please, play and cuddle. Evie is medium energy - 1 hour playing with other dogs is all she needs. She’s also great in her crate. She’s great in the house - no accidents!
