Story
Hi, my name’s Rowan!I’m a handsome boy who gets startled easily, maybe because my past wasn`t the kindest. I`m slowly learning to trust again, though, and I’ve made a lot of great progress since coming to GHS: even when scared, I’ll still cautiously approach and nudge for gentle pets. After I arrived here, it took weeks before I was comfortable going for walks! I’ve come a long way. I’m more nervous around men but will even warm up pretty quickly if they sit calmly and ignore me. With someone patient who understands that positivity and gentle socialization can help heal old wounds, I will blossom into your new best friend.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers may be ok if the home is generally on the calmer side.OTHER DOGS: Yes! I would appreciate a dog friend to play and hang out with.CATS: Yes, with a cat confident around big dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best in a home that has experience with large and timid dogs.FENCED-IN YARD: Required, given I can get quite nervous on leash walks.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any with a fenced yard.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.MEDICATIONS: Yes, I take daily medication orally to help with my stress. If you think I would make a good match for your home, please click the `Adopt Me` button to apply!

Story
Hello, I’m Hawthorn!I’m a sweet boy, even though life’s been a bit rocky and trust doesn’t come easy for me. I arrived at GHS very scared, nervous, and quick to panic, but my friends here at GHS have helped me learn I don’t need to be afraid of humans anymore—I’m starting to show my social side by asking for pets and even starting to jump up to say hello to people I like! I’m more nervous around men and warm up to females much quicker. I’m looking for a family who is gentle, understanding, and patient so I can continue to build my confidence and feel safe for life.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers may be ok if the home is generally on the calmer side.OTHER DOGS: Yes! If you think I would make a good match for your home, please click the `Adopt Me` button to apply!FOSTER ME! I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me. The Paisley Project aims to match selected, long-stay animals at GHS with fosters that can provide a home that gradually introduces them to the everyday experiences of life as a pet. Fosters will offer the routine, structure and stability needed to help get animals ready for their new family. Learn more & apply at guelphhumane.ca/the-paisley-project

Story
Ranger is vocal and loves to tell you about his day and then tell you again! He loves to be pet and looks at a gate as a challenge, not a barrier. He can be stubborn and defiant, so a strong Alpha owner is needed or he will take control. He is a powerful puller on leash, so a harness is best. He likes car rides and is crate trained. He is looking for a forever home that has some experience with the food motivated lab and stubborn mastiff. Due to his size and strength, older children are best. He has a great smile, and will show all his teeth when he is happy or nervous. He is up to date with his vaccines, flea and tick treated, microchipped, Heartworm negative and is neutered. His adoption fee is $500. You must be 21 years old to adopt and provide vet and personal references. An application to adopt him can be found on our website www.oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com. Click on Adopt, then Dogs for Adoption and scroll to the bottom of the page. All applications are reviewed, and if we feel you might be a good fit for him, you will be contacted to arrange a home visit as well as for permission to speak with your vet. Repeated phone calls and emails with not advance your application. We are a volunteer, foster based rescue and there is no opportunity to meet him before an application has been approved. We thankyou for respecting these guidelines.

Story
Howdy, my name`s Carmen!I`m a cute, super friendly, very active and fun type of girl. I`m pretty good at being quiet in my run, as well as keeping it clean! I love my walks but need some work on my leash skills, I don`t know my own strength. With being 60lbs some would describe me as medium to large in size. So not too big or small.I am treat motivated, which comes in handy for training and I am great with other friendly dogs. I can be such a social butterfly- such a great dog all around! If I sound like your cup of tea, come on down to London Animal Care Centre and let`s meet. I look forward to going on a walk with you!Carmen.
