Story
Pongo / Neutered Male / 6 Months / Lab mix? / Dogs: Yes / Cats: Yes / Kids: 13+ / Location: East Garafraxa Meet Pongo (again!) This handsome boy was adopted earlier this year but sadly returned just a month later. Pongo is a truly special pup who needs an equally special home to match. At just 6 months old and 45 lbs, Pongo is full of energy, smarts, and heart. While we were told he might be a Border Collie/Lab mix, we aren’t entirely sure, what we do know is that he won’t get too much bigger and that he’s 100% adorable. Pongo can be nervous in new situations or around unfamiliar people, but he’s been working so hard to overcome this. He even spent several weeks with our friends at stylek9dogtraining, where he learned amazing skills that will set him up for success. His future family will continue his journey with a few follow up classes, already covered in his adoption fee, because consistency is key for this sensitive boy. What makes Pongo amazing: Walks beautifully on leash, calmly and politely (even sitting at stops!) Crate trained & fully housebroken Snuggle king who always wants to be near his people Playful, smart, and food motivated, he learns fast! Loves doggy friends, is good with cats, and would thrive with or without another dog in the home Because of his nervous nature, Pongo would do best with older, dog savvy kids. A yard to run, play, and chase squirrels would be a dream for him. To help him settle in, Pongo will even come with his special “place bed” included in his adoption fee, we want to give him every chance to succeed. Pongo is sweet, loving, and so ready for a family who will understand his past and nurture his bright future. Could that be you? https://forms.gle/gMSrMCVFqQ3fb5gN8

Story
Hi, my name’s Rowan!I’m a handsome boy who gets startled easily, maybe because my past wasn`t the kindest. I`m slowly learning to trust again, though, and I’ve made a lot of great progress since coming to GHS: even when scared, I’ll still cautiously approach and nudge for gentle pets. After I arrived here, it took weeks before I was comfortable going for walks! I’ve come a long way. I’m particularly nervous around men and feel safest around one person at a time, but with someone patient who understands that positivity and gentle socialization can help heal old wounds, I could blossom into your new best friend. MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: No, I am looking for an adult-only home due to my skittish nature.OTHER DOGS: Yes, with a well-socialized and easy-going dog.CATS: Yes, with a cat confident around big dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best in a home that has experience with large and timid dogs. FENCED-IN YARD: Required, given I can get quite nervous on leash walks.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any with a fenced yard.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.MEDICATIONS: Yes, I take daily medication orally to help with my stress. Story
Hello, I’m Hawthorn!I’m a sweet boy, even though life’s been a bit rocky and trust doesn’t come easy for me. I arrived at GHS very scared, nervous, and quick to panic, but my friends here at GHS have helped me learn I don’t need to be afraid of humans anymore—I’m starting to show my social side by asking for pets and even starting to jump up to say hello to people I like! I’m particularly nervous around men and feel safest around one person at a time; I’m looking for a family who is gentle, understanding, and patient so I can continue to build my confidence and feel safe for life.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: No, I am looking for an adult-only home due to my timid nature.OTHER DOGS: Potentially, with a well-socialized, easy-going dog.CATS: Yes, with a cat confident around big dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best in a home that has experience with large and timid dogs. I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me. The Paisley Project aims to match selected, long-stay animals at GHS with fosters that can provide a home that gradually introduces them to the everyday experiences of life as a pet. Fosters will offer the routine, structure and stability needed to help get animals ready for their new family. Learn more & apply at guelphhumane.ca/the-paisley-project

Story
SOPHIE is fostered in Texas and can come to Ontario on the next transport. SOPHIE apx 4-8 months 12 pounds (08/13). She is hilarious, snuggly, goofy, loving, squishy and adorable! Sophie will be available for adoption next week. Her eye is healed and she gets spayed on the 18th. She is ready to wiggle her way into your heart and your bed. We all adore this little angel baby. She looks to be a lab/shar pei mix but honestly who knows. To recap her story, Sophie was found in an RV park very emaciated, and dehydrated. She had been attacked by a large dog or another large animal. She had puncture wounds all over her face, head and neck. We thought she might need her eye removed, but miraculously the bite mark missed her actual eyeball by a few centimeters. She also had a terrible infection. All is well now and as you can see she is a happy silly girl and SO squishy and cuddly. Sophie will PROBABLY be a bigger dog 50 plus pounds. She loves all animals and she LOVES all food for this kid is a foodie for sure. Plus look at those neck wrinkles 🙂 Her coat is so soft and she will make you smile on a daily basis. Sophie is just sprinkles, rainbows, and butterflies. 🌈 🦋 Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Currently fostered in Texas Whiskey is apx 8 months old and weighs 25 pounds. He was found as a stray and is a little thin so he could use some quality food and extra snacks which he will get while in his foster home. His foster is working with him on potty training , crate training and walking on leash and harness. He is still a baby and a bit whiny in the crate but doing well . He loves to play, is very social, loves dogs, cats and kids and is an all around great boy. Will probably be about 40 pounds fully grown. Maybe husky, lab, hound mix ??? Story
🖤ADOPT PANDORA🖤 F | 7Y | 23 KG | Mixed breed | Spayed | UTD on shots | Housebroken | Crate Trained | Good with dogs | Cat tested | Not kid tested | Fostered in London A gift from the Gods themselves. The jewel that lights up every room she is in. Our Pandora will open your world up with newfound joy, adventure and tons of cuddles! You know what they say, girls just wanna have fun and Pandora is no exception! So take her on walks or show her some cool tricks, she is here for a good time! She may seem a little reserved when you first meet her, but after some time, she can come out of her shell and make new furry and human friends! Her sweet curiousity leads her to want to make doggie friends, and with the right support and introductions, she can develop great canine companions. With new humans, Pandora would love it if you introduced her to your friends so she can warm up to them and make them her friends too! Noises can be a bit scary for Pandora, so it is something to be mindful of as you guys work together to help her adjust to her new life. She is also a flight risk within the first couple of weeks, meaning even in a fully enclosed yard and in the house - it's important to keep that leash on until she's fully decompressed and settled in. As with any dog, Pandora would greatly benefit from proper structure, boundary setting, and lots of love and patience. She is an absolute gem and is looking for the right family to help her sparkle to the max!
