Story
Meet Zero. Zero came to us with over 100 animals from a cruelty case over 3 years ago. After 1,045 days, we FINALLY gained ownership of them in December of 2024! Merry Christmas to us!! After so long of only having our staff every day, they’re extremely timid. They can be nervous & scared when meeting new people, so a few meetings are required. She has so much love to give, she’s just scared of new things. She has a lot of confidence-building that she needs to work on, and she needs someone who’s willing to work with her and has that patience. We know that there is a special someone out there who has the compassion and understanding of the life she’s lived before coming to us.

Story
Matilda is around a 1-year-old lab mix that is a young, gentle soul that the foster considers an almost perfect girl. She weighs approximately 44 lbs and is fully grown. Matilda was found roaming around a neighborhood along the Texas/Mexico border. Unfortunately, there are thousands of strays in this area, and it is very normal to have dogs hanging out on the corners, looking for scraps, water and just some place to lay down. A good Samaritan noticed Matilda (and a few other dogs) close to her home just roaming around for a couple weeks, and decided she wanted to help them. Matilda and Chico are 2 of the many dogs our rescue has stepped up to help her with. It looks like Matilda was tied up outside at some point as she had a broken rope around her neck, where it looks like she broke free from the restraint. Unfortunately, despite laws, so many people chain their dogs up outside in rain, shine or freezing cold weather and dogs do what they need to survive. Nobody ever came looking for her, nobody cared, until the good Samaritan. It didn’t take long for Matilda to come around and show her beautiful personality. At first, she was a little shy, as she was unsure what to expect when she was taken off the street and brought to a new home. Who knows if prior to this she was ever an inside dog or even knew human love. She has flourished into a loving, sweet, kind dog that just loves and appreciates everyone and everything. As you can see in the pictures, she doesn’t even mind getting dressed up! Matilda has learned how to walk on a leash and does wonderful on it now. She is crate trained and house trained, YAY! Matilda loves other dogs and would do wonderful in a home with other dogs or without them. The foster says she is medium energy, she is not a super active dog, but she is still young and would love her walks around the neighborhood and some exercise. Another dog, or dogs, that is medium energy would be best, but she doesn’t mind either way! She has met cats and she is not bothered by them at all. If anything, she is more scared of them than they are of her (please see video!) Matilda loves toys and would love her own toy chest one day. The foster has given her some stuffed monkeys, and she adores it and just chews on it gently, which almost seems more for comfort than anything else. If you’re looking for a smart, well trained, loyal, amazing, gentle, and an all-around perfect 44 lb family dog, please consider Matilda. Matilda is spayed, she is current on age-appropriate vaccinations including parvo/distemper, bordatella and the rabies vaccine. She is heart worm negative, dewormed, microchipped, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, and will receive a clean bill of health from a veterinarian prior to adoption/transport. Story
Meet Milky Way Milky Way is an estimated 1 1/2 years old (weighs 35 pounds) and came to us as a stray—found on the run, carrying quiet proof that her past wasn’t what it should have been. The small scars on her face tell a story she didn’t choose… but they don’t define who she is.What does define Milky Way?Gratitude. Gentleness. A heart that still believes in people.Since arriving at the shelter, she’s been nothing but sweet with everyone she’s met—soaking up kindness like it’s something brand new. She leans into affection, looks at you with those soft eyes, and reminds you how powerful love can be when it’s finally given freely.Milky Way deserves to know what safety feels like. She deserves consistency, warmth, and a family who shows her that love isn’t something you have to earn—it’s something you’re worthy of. If you’re ready to give a second chance to a dog who will treasure it with her whole heart, Milky Way is ready to meet you. Sometimes the most beautiful souls are the ones who’ve survived the dark—and still choose to shine.
