Story
Star -10 months old, spayed female lab mix. Loves dogs, toys and the water hose. She is up to date on vaccines, preventions and ready for her forever home. She is a bit overweight as she came from a place with over 10 dogs in one small area but with her activity level and the proper diet she will be thinner in no time. She absolutely loves people and will need some obedience training but is very motivated. If you are interested please email us at fundthefur@gmail.com. We are located in Arkansas and transport weekly to the east coast.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.COURTESY POST Posted 12/6/2022 Luna ia a courtesy post.  She is a 2-3 year old lab that needs someone to work with her to become the best she can be.  She is spayed, houstrained, up to date on vaccines.  She needs to be an only dog since she doesn't play with dogs....she is a people dog!!  Luna will chase cats but won't hurt them but it will stress them out.  She can at times be reactive in certain situations like barking at the mailman or dogs walking by the property thats where some work needs to be done.  She walks on a leash with a Gentle Leader Head Halter and walks fairly well.  She has some stress when traveling in a car....needs work.  Contact the person below, there is an adoption fee.(YOU MUST BE WITHIN A TWO HOUR DRIVE OF GRANTVILLE PA TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN ADOPTER.) . Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Leeda is a sweet sweet soul.  She absolutely LOVES the outside!!!  She is content to wander around the fields all day long!  She would be perfect for someone who has a large fenced yard where she can roam to her hearts content.  She loves people!RequirementsLarge Fenced YardVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!May 31, 2023, 5:06 pm

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 4/22/23 Still available. Don’t miss out on this gem! 4/1/23 Amber is a very sweet, affectionate girl. She’s gentle and pretty calm but does like to play. She has the most beautiful eyes! She gets along well with other dogs and cats! She is a little shy at first with people but comes around quickly. She loves belly rubs and any attention you're willing to give her! She is house and crate trained. She is medium energy level. She loves to play with toys and is often playing with the other dogs in her foster home, but if nobody wants to play, she will play with toys and entertain herself! Her best friend is a 115 pound Great Dane mix-Amber loves to play tug with her! She’s a little chunky right now and could stand to lose some weight. We believe Amber is about 2 years old and is probably a mix of many different breeds with no dominant breed identifiable. Maybe Lab mix? Maybe some shepherd? Very mixed but 100% LOVE! She weighs about 50-60 lbs. The quick movements and loudness of toddlers seems to scare Amber and make her uncomfortable, so a home with kids 6+ would be best. She’s not aggressive in any way, just nervous of little ones. She’s met my 11 year old niece and nephew and was good with them. She enjoys being outside and is doing well with her leash manners. She’d love to sleep in bed with her humans at night but is content on her dog bed, the recliner, or her crate if getting in bed is not an option. This girl is truly as sweet as they come! She will try to steal food from the counter if you’re not looking, but given the state she was in when she was rescued, I can’t blame the poor girl.  Amber was rescued from living life on a chain. She was skin and bones (see the pictures of when she was rescued ). She suffered through every season outdoors on a chain without shelter and usually without food. She drank rain water because often times that is all she had. She had several litters of puppies and when the last litter was about 10 weeks old, we became aware of the situation and were able to rescue Amber, all of her puppies, and the other 2 adult dogs that were on the property. One of the other dogs has been adopted and the other one is Colby, who is also listed for adoption currently. Amber did have heartworms on intake but has been treated and is doing great. She is ready to find her own family to love. In New England. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $125-$140 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.    AsherThis boy is so handsome, I don’t know how he hasn’t been scooped up yet. He looks very serious in many of his pictures, but he has a very happy personality! Asher is believed to be a Lab mix, he has a very lab like personality. He has not had a single accident in his foster home. He is crate trained. He is almost a year old (best guess as he was dumped with jus brothers). He is VERY friendly and good natured. True to the Lab personality, he likes to carry toys around and likes to chew on toys and bones. Also true to the Lab traits, his foster mom says he’d probably counter surf if given the chance! He is great with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. He has met 11 year old kids and was great with them. He hasn’t been around little kids but we think he’d be just fine. He saw a cat at the vet and didn’t react; there is not a cat in his foster home but he CAN easily be cat tested. He rides good in the car. Asher is about 50-60 pounds. This boy is a true gem!
