Story
Meet Sweet Sadie 💛 Rescued just in time before a brutal winter storm, Sadie proved to be an incredible, devoted mama—and now it’s her turn to be loved. She’s a gentle, affectionate girl with an easygoing personality who just wants to be close to her people. Sadie is house-trained, well-mannered, and gets along great with other dogs. She’s playful when the moment is right but mostly enjoys a calm, cozy life by your side. After overcoming a tough past, she’s settled into a relaxed routine and is learning that she’ll always have her next meal. Sadie is truly a “no trouble” kind of dog—sweet, loyal, and ready to give her whole heart to a family of her own. If you’re looking for a loving, low-maintenance companion, Sadie is your girl.

Story
Meet Dorothy — your future adventure buddy and full-time goofball! 🐾✨ At just 4 months old, this Lab mix is bursting with personality, curiosity, and puppy charm. Dorothy is always ready for her next big adventure—whether that’s exploring the backyard, splashing in water, or making new friends (and yes, that includes dogs, pigs, and even chickens… though she thinks chasing the chickens is the best game ever 😂). When the day winds down, Dorothy is happy to trade in her zoomies for snuggles. She loves her crate and is already sleeping through most nights like a pro! Her foster shares: “Dorothy is very smart… maybe a little too smart sometimes! She has lots of energy during the day, but settles down in the evening. We’re working on commands like sit, down, come, and even ‘no ma’am.’ She can get a little mouthy when she gets excited, but she is learning quickly.” Like any puppy, Dorothy is still learning the ropes. She’ll need a family ready to guide her as she works on leash manners, slowing down at mealtime, and keeping that excited puppy mouthing in check. The good news? She’s incredibly smart, eager to please, and ready to learn—she just needs someone to show her the way. With a little consistency and a lot of love, Dorothy is going to grow into the most loyal, fun-loving companion you could ask for. 💛 Ready to add some joy (and a little chaos!) to your life? Fill out an adoption application on our website and come meet your new best friend!

Story
Larry is just 5 months old, but he’s already been waiting far too long for his forever home. He came into a shelter at only 4 months old, and while he’s been safe and cared for in foster, what he truly deserves is a family to call his own. His foster mom shares, “Larry is always happy. His tail wags all day long as he looks at his people with so much love. He adores being coddled and is happiest when he’s surrounded by his favorite things—kids, other dogs, FOOD, and a cozy nap.” Larry is everything you’d want in a puppy—playful, affectionate, and full of personality. He’s already neutered, up to date on vaccines, and has even mastered “sit”! His perfect day? Playing hard, napping hard, and soaking up all the love and attention he can get. And recently, he discovered a new obsession… chasing bubbles 🫧 (which is just as adorable as it sounds). Like many food-loving pups, Larry prefers to enjoy his meals without other dogs getting too close. He does great with people around his bowl, but may get protective if another dog approaches while he’s eating. The good news? This is very manageable—he just needs a little space at mealtime and does best being fed separately. Larry has so much love to give and is ready to spend his puppyhood making memories—not waiting. 🖤 If you’re looking for a joyful, snuggly, fun-loving companion, Larry might just be your perfect match. If you’re interested in adopting Larry, please fill out an application on our website.

Story
Meet Bear—our little “Teddy” Bear with a big personality and an even bigger heart 🧡 At just 11 weeks old, Bear is already growing up in rescue, and he’s more than ready to trade that for a forever family of his own. This sweet, goofy Velcro pup wants nothing more than to be by your side—whether you’re playing, relaxing, or sneaking snacks in the kitchen (he’ll be right there, just in case). Bear is as smart as he is lovable! He already knows sit, place, come, and “let go,” and he’s well on his way to being fully potty trained. He adores his toy basket, has a talent for stealing socks, and lives for zoomies with his foster sister Dottie. After playtime? He’s all about curling up next to his people for a cozy nap—complete with the cutest little snore. His foster mom shares, “He will do ANYTHING for even the tiniest treat. He doesn’t like being alone—even if you’re just in the next room. He loves everyone, is great with kids, and our family will be heartbroken when he leaves.” Bear would thrive in a home with another playful pup or with someone who’s around often to soak up all his love. He’s still working on leash walking and keeping all four paws on the ground, but he’s eager to learn and ready to grow with his forever family. Bear isn’t just looking for a home—he’s looking for his person, his place, his happily ever after. Could that be you? If you’re ready to make Bear part of your family, please fill out an application on our website.

Story
Gwennie is an old soul in every sense of the word. Still active, this angelic spirit came into our care without a lot of information. She exudes sweet. She is dainty and playful everyone. She has learned to trust us and when she shines on you - you melt. She came to us from a shelter with every single tooth cracked/rotten or broken. All of her teeth have been removed and the difference in her is remarkable. She is like a puppy again and her face glows. Gwendolyn is special needs because she will need to be with people who will protect her from everything since she can't protect herself. She will also need soft food for the rest of her life. Without teeth, Gwennie has learned to love plush blankets and soft squishy toys (one of the benefits she has learned about her painful mouth being painful no longer). Gwennie is housetrained, but will need a patient home to create boundaries from the kitchen/bathroom counters. She will also need some time to settle in to figure out a safe place to sleep (crating her causes her anxiety). To adopt one of our animals, the first step is filling out an adoption application at www.tapsusa.org, https://tapsusa.org/why-adopt/application/ Please make sure you get a confirmation that your application has been submitted. If you are a match for one of our pets, we will reach out to you to schedule a meet and greet. All meet and greets are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY The Animal Protectorates c/o Friendsville Animal Center 706 Kiser Station Road Friendsville, TN 37737 All animals are spayed/neutered, current on age appropriate vaccinations and microchipped before they go to new homes because that's the responsible way to keep them all safe. We only adopt to local homes in the immediate vicinity because we utilize our volunteer force to process home visits. Photos of your home, letters of reference are not acceptable which is why we only adopt locally. Only in very rare circumstances do we adopt out of area. Examples of this would be finding the perfect home for a senior animal or one that has other special needs that we have not been able to place locally for an extended period of time. Thank you for wanting to adopt.

Bender is currently living in a small apartment. Prior to apartment, she lived in a good sized house much larger indoor area to roam. Bender went from 24 acres to run to always being on a leash. She has too much energy to live like this. She enjoys exploring and swimming. She is not an aggressive dog. Will run or shy away from other dogs and cats. Bender barks at other people but does not growl.
