Story
LOCATION: Vista, CaliforniaDOB: 04/01/2023Meet Winnie, a gentle lab-pittie mix with a heart full of love and a spirit that just needs a little help to shine. She’s a loyal, affectionate companion who’s looking for a calm, patient home where she can continue building her confidence and feel truly safe.Winnie is the ultimate snuggle champion—on the couch, in bed, curled up next to you like the oversized lap dog she believes she is. Once she trusts you, she’s all in. Her bond with her people is deep and devoted, and her silly, playful side starts to shine through. She’s got some impressive ninja moves when she’s in the mood to play and could easily qualify for a kangaroo impersonation contest with those high jumps. Her favorite hobby? Taking over the playground and hopping her way to fun—but never over the fence.Winnie is dog-friendly and enjoys playing with canine companions once properly introduced. She gets a little nervous at first but settles in well with patience and a calm approach. She has lived with a cat in the past with no issues and is respectful with animals in her space. Winnie is also crate trained and potty trained, although if she's very scared, she may have an accident.Loud noises, cleaning equipment, and unfamiliar men in hats can be overwhelming for her, and walks through busy neighborhoods aren’t her thing. But give her a quiet trail in the woods or a peaceful yard, and she’s in her happy place. Winnie’s fear shows up as growling toward people she’s unsure of, but with understanding and a slow approach, she continues to build trust. There is no resource guarding in her behavior, just a longing to feel safe. She’s currently in a home with children and does well, but her next home should be child-free—not because she doesn’t like them, but because her anxiety needs a quieter environment to help her thrive. She would do best with experienced adopters who understand the needs of a fearful dog and can provide the structure, love, and consistency she deserves.Winnie has so much love to give and is just waiting for the right person or people to help her blossom. If you're looking for a loyal, goofy, snuggly best friend who just needs a little extra reassurance, Winnie could be the perfect fit.Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Marlin is a handsome Retriever/Hound mix with a zest for life! He was rescued along with mom and 5 littermates nearly 2 years ago. His mom and 4 of his littermates have found forever homes. It is just he and his brother Marlin left. A new home sure would make a great gift for all! it would be an easier transition for them to stay together, but not required. He is a playful, energetic boy who loves to run and play with the other dogs. Both Marlin are both fully vetted and ready to go!
