Story
Up for adoption in Texas: Rufus.
Rufus is about a year old and currently weighs 56 pounds. However, after he gains some more weight and fills out, he will likely be about 80 pounds.
Why so skinny? It's hard to believe, but Rufus was likely dumped. He was picked up as a stray with some other dogs. He looked sooooo sad and skinny. He was so sad when he first went to his foster home. Then, soon, Rufus learned to have fun! He started playing with the other spunky female dogs in his foster home, started warming up to his awesome foster mom and soon enough, jumped in the pool and swam with his doggie pals. We've seen a huge change in his behavior, and we're thrilled.
Now that he's getting regular meals, care, and lots of love, he should start packing on some pounds.
Rufus is just a good ole boy. He has a calm personality and loves to play with his toys. However, he does like to chew on anything, including shoes. He prefers Crocs.
He likes to swim and will chase a pool Polaris for as long as you will let him.
He does well with other dogs and gets along with cats. He is a “leaner” so any kiddos will need to be a bit older and steady on their feet.
Rufus is housebroken and will go in a crate, but he prefers to sleep the night away on a dog bed. He likes to be wherever people are and loves to snuggle and watch baseball, preferably the Texas Rangers.
He does not like crates. Right now, his foster mom leaves him in a bedroom with another dog when she leaves, and he does fine.
Poor Rufus is not a fan of getting in the car. His foster mom had to carry him out of the animal hospital after he was neutered. We're hoping that with some positive reinforcement training, Rufus can learn to like car rides.
With some more TLC, we think he will be an amazing dog!
He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Apply to adopt this beautiful boy at www.luckylabrescue.com
