Story
Gucci is available for either in-state adoption or adoption and transport to another state. Gucci is a lab/boxer mix, he is approx 6 months old and 22 lbs, he will probably be in the 40 to 50 lb range when fully grown. He is one of a litter of puppies rescued from a known dumping ground in Houston TX. Gucci is a typical puppy, he loves to run and play in the yard. Gucci gets along with the other rescue dogs. He is not yet fully house or leash/harness trained, but he is very smart and learns very quickly. He is a little on the shy side with people but will always run up for a treat! Gucci is a very handsome boy with beautiful markings and he has a very nice disposition. He will be a great family dog and companion. He would be a great dog for hiking or the dog park. Gucci must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and he must have a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Gucci is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Gucci's out-of-state adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company, and he can be transported almost anywhere within the continental United States. Gucci is with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please email kathy@houstonshaggydogrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this good boy. You may also find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/houstonshaggydogrescue

Story
Sabine is a beautiful, young Boxer/Labrador Retriever mix (based on a DNA test) around 1 year of age and weighing ca. 70 pounds. She was found bedded down in the grass on the side of a country highway waiting for the return of the people that had dumped her. After posting on social media, it was discovered that she had given birth to 10 puppies at a nearby house. We took them all. The puppies have all found homes and now mom is ready for her forever home. Sabine is still a bit of a puppy herself. She is crate-trained and generally has good house manners for her age. She can sit, walk on a leash, ride well in a car, and comes when called. She is affectionate and loves attention and pets. Sabine currently lives in a foster home with other dogs of all ages and sizes. She likes to play fetch and tug of war with rope toys and likes to wrestle and roughhouse with her dog friends. Sabine has more to learn. She will need additional training and regular socialization. Sabine loves affection and is looking for the security of a forever family where she can live inside and be a true part of the family, never to be abandoned again. She would enjoy a fenced yard and an active family that will take her on hikes or walks to get the exercise and experiences she needs. Sabine is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. She is negative for heartworms and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. She is ready to go, patiently waiting for the right someone to choose her. We will consider both in-state and out-of-state applications. Sabine has a $200 in-state adoption fee. Her $450 out-of-state adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company, and she can be transported almost anywhere within the continental United States. Story
Meet Rossi! He has been waiting for his family since 2017! This young adult boy is ready to join your active lifestyle.  He had a tough start in his life, vet said that he had a broken leg at some point, but you would never know it.  He is extremely happy and so loving.  Rossi has basic obedience training and is already house and crate trained. He loves to spend his days at doggy day care.  If you are looking for a handsome running companion -- he, is it!!  Rossi currently lives with other dogs, but he would be best as a solo dog as he takes time to warm up to other 4-legged friends.  He loves attention and is selective as to who he shares it with. Why would he not— look at him, a ladies' man for sure!   Rossi's  adoption fee is $100 in Houston, Tx or I can be transported for $350 out of state, which includes neuter, current vaccinations, health certificate, transport fees and microchip. He is heartworm negative.  Apply to adopt  him at  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=DCMHRQZTJuly 26, 2024, 10:53 am

Story
Gia doesn`t seem to have spent much time around people before and was very scared and nervous when she first came into the shelter. We`ve been working with her and are slowly showing her that humans are her friends. She`s already come so far - we`re so proud of her! She`s still wary of people and tries to back away from them at first, but if you`re gentle and patient and go slowly with her she`ll let you pet and touch her now. You can tell she has no idea what to make of the gesture , and she`s very nervous about it. Despite her fear she`s never shown any signs of aggression. We`re also working with her on the leash - she`ll let you put it on now, but has no idea what she`s supposed to do after that, and she`s too nervous to walk on it. She still doesn`t feel comfortable taking treats from your hand, but you can bet as soon as you leave her kennel she`s eating them. She loves treats! Gia is thriving in her current short term foster home. Her leash skills are improving, and she has started trusting her fosters enough to take treats from their hands. She`s living well with other dogs and is slowly gaining confidence!

Story
Domino is a fun-loving kind of guy. He`s always got a grin on his face and he loves to run around and play! He`s both playful and puppyish, and finds everything to be exciting and fun! He`s got lots of energy and likes to keep active. He enjoys chasing after toys when you throw them, but he won`t bring them back. He`ll make his own fun by batting them around by himself sometimes though! Another great love of his is treats. They make him VERY happy! He`s done great spending time with kids on a doggy day out, and the 9YO had no problem handling him on leash! He knows to be laidback around children, and loved them hugging and kissing on him. He`s also gotten along well with other dogs in shelter playgroups. Who wouldn`t want a handsome boy like this around to liven things up?!

Story
Giblet has been campaigning to be your new bet friend since he came into the shelter on 11/7/22. His campaign slogan is `No treat left behind!` and he takes that very seriously. There`s not a crumb left when Giblet`s done with it! With his handsome face and friendly personality he`s sure to swing the polls in his favor. He really deserves to win your vote after having been in an overcrowded shelter for so long! Giblet is very serious about finding someone to foster, adopt, or rescue him…but his mission hasn`t left him boring! He`s still a very happy and playful boy who`s so much fun to be around. He likes to be pet and play, and he`s very gentle with his toys. He has an average energy level meaning he`s got the best of both worlds. He gets along great with his constituents (other dogs) in shelter playgroups and loves the company. So vote for Giblet and share his message so that he can find that new best friend position he`s so deserving of!
