Story
Benji is the embodiment of everything we love about Labs — happy, friendly, and full of life! Despite recently going through the heartbreaking loss of his owner, Benji hasn’t let it dim his cheerful spirit. He’s settling in wonderfully at his foster home, where we’ve learned a few things about this lovable guy. Benji is dog-friendly and currently lives peacefully with both a big dog and a small dog. He loves spending time outdoors — in his previous home, he rarely got the chance, so now he soaks up every minute of sunshine he can get! Once he bonds with his person, Benji can even be trusted off-leash. Though he’s around five years old, you’d never know it — he’s wiggly, playful, and always ready for the next adventure. Benji is fully vetted and ready to find his forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your days with joy, Benji might just be your perfect match!

Story
If pure joy had four legs and a tail, it would absolutely be Butter. We’re pretty sure his brain runs on “Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows” 24/7 — and honestly, it’s part of his charm. Butter is the definition of a happy-go-lucky dog. A little silly, a little clueless and 100% the kind of pup who wakes up every day believing something wonderful is about to happen. Butter didn’t grow up in the best circumstances, but you would never know it by the way he acts now. Since joining DDBBR at the beginning of the year, he has been nothing but a warm, golden Buttery light beaming at the chance to live free from the chain he use to be tethered to. Despite his cheerful spirit, Butter has only ever lived outdoors or in boarding — he’s never had a true family of his own. And he deserves that chance more than anything. The silver lining is that boarding has allowed us to really get to know him, and we can happily share that Butter enjoys the company of most other dogs! He’s still polishing up some of his social skills (we lovingly call him a “sweet himbo” around here), so a meet and greet with resident dogs is a must. Whoever opens their home to Butter won’t just be giving a dog a chance — they’ll be changing his entire world. And you won’t be doing it alone: DDBBR will support you 100%, including training right off the bat to set you up for success. If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy, sunshine-filled companion who will make you smile every single day… Butter is your boy.

Story
Meet Max! This lovable 3-year-old has been waiting patiently in the shelter for the past 6 months. He’s now with ADA and he’s more than ready to find a home of his own. Active, sweet, and full of potential, he’s the perfect match for someone looking for a fun companion with a gentle heart. Max can be a bit shy when faced with new situations, but with patience and reassurance, he opens up beautifully. Once he trusts you, his affectionate and playful side really shines. Because of his energy level, he may be a bit too much for very small children, but older, dog-savvy kids could be a great fit. He enjoys the company of other dogs, but he’ll need slow, thoughtful introductions to help him feel secure and set him up for success. With time and proper guidance, he can blossom into a wonderful canine friend. If you’re ready to give a deserving pup a fresh start, come meet Max—he just might be the perfect addition to your family. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule individual adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Always ready for a roadtrip, brunch date or both, Girly Pop is an adoring lady who wants to be the only star in your eye where pups are concerned. We can always try a meet & greet as it may just be kennel stress, though. We think she'd be good with kids, but cats are unknown! updated 10/02/25
