Story
Rain is a silver/blue bully/lab mix girl with hazel eyes, about 1-2 years old, and ~50 lbs. She was saved from a kill shelter in NC, originally found as a stray. She is quiet and sweet with people, but she can be obnoxious and aggressive with other dogs! She needs to be the only dog (no cats, no small critters) in the household to be safe and stress free. She would be fine around older children, but probably no 'toddlers' as they could get knocked down. She is a sweet, affectionate girl, and would be enough dog for most people. She's smart and would do well in obedience classes; She needs to learn to walk properly on a leash, as she pulls hard now. She knows some basic commands, she 's fully vetted and ready for a home. She is young and active, and needs a securely fenced yard (5-6 ft solid fence), for enough free run exercise time. She should not go to 'dog parks', but would be fine walking with a regular leash on trails. She needs to have an owner with big dog experience, and especilly bully breed experience ! Please email BlueRidgeDogRescue@gmail.com to schedule a meeting with Rain.

Story
Meet Beignet she is a very sweet 7 to 9 month old, deaf and mostly blind mixed Lab dog. She is very sweet and gets along with other dogs and cats and would love to have a guide dog in her new home. She is 90% potty trained, sleeps in a pen at night and knows how to use a doggie door.  Beignet also knows to go to her mat at meal times and wait for her food. Sometimes she gets a little excited and knocks her bowl over. She also knows when you touch the top of her head to sit. When she needs a little assurance and guidance she gets between her foster mom’s legs and follows her. She loves chewing on bully sticks and playing with squeak toys. She has no idea that she is any different than anyone else. Beignet would love a spot on your couch and in your heart.  At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##1717140##

Story
UPDATE 3/24/23:  Four-year-old  Jaxson  thought he was just being a freewheeling venturer before getting picked-up for being unlicensed.  No one claimed him, so we gave him a place to wait until he finds a home.  While he has been with us, he has been neat in his room, and wriggles with delight when anyone stops to give him some love. We've got a serious tail-wagger here.   This compact (40 pound), muscular dog is all set to learn what is expected of him. He is already learning to sit when directed and also to wait before a door is opened.  When asked, he behaves well while on leash walks.   He seemed to want to play with dog-curious kitties, but he could be overwhelming unless he is taught cat etiquette.   Jaxson  is the clean-cut yellow of a Labrador. And by the look of his charcoal lips, he may have some Black-mouth Cur (Old Yeller type dog) in his bloodline. We don’t  know his mix for sure, but we know for sure that he is smart and good-looking.   Jaxson  always seems to look on the bright side of things. Bring him into your life to see the world from his optimistic viewpoint.   If you are interested in this happy boy, please fill out our online application Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.    May 25, 2023, 9:22 pm

Story
Is he a lab? Is he a plott hound? We aren't sure about that but we are sure that he's 100% happy fun! Lambert is a young adult dog who came to us from our local shelter for us to help him find a home. He's a friendly guy who is loving everyone he meets! He's even seems to be ok with cats! Lambert loves to romp and play with other dogs and is sure to make a great addition to almost any family! Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
