Story
Noel has to be one of the most classic looking Labs we’ve had in a long time. She is 2-3 yrs old 55 lbs but it’s a thick build, she is very classic lab type in body and hair coat. She also loves the water, even in January, in Virginia. She walks very well on a leash, rides well in the truck and hasn’t exhibited any barking or digging behavior. She seems to be a pretty happy go lucky kinda girl, and seems confident that every day is the best day ever. Housebroken and was polite when meeting the cat. Spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is heartworm positive and the rescue will cover cost of treatment. Located in Warrenton, Virginia. #hmrnoel https://linktr.ee/hailmaryrescue1?utm_source=linktree_profile_share

Story
Hi there, I'm Delta, your future best friend! You see, I'm a bit of an adventurer. I once chased a squirrel into a mail truck. Next thing I knew, I was at the shelter! Don't worry, I've given up my squirrel-chasing days for a more mellow lifestyle. I'm the curious type, always sniffing out the best spots for belly rubs. I'm also smart enough to know that the quickest way to treats is through your heart. I'm as sweet and friendly as they come, and I promise to be your loyal companion. So, how about we embark on this adventure called life together? This pet is eligible for the PETS FOR PATRIOTS adoption program. Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##2106570##

Story
Bolt is a super friendly, cuddly rescue pup. I have had him about two years and he is a wonderful companion suited for a busy household. He would thrive in a home with children. He gets along great with other dogs as I have two. He plays hard but mostly when a human is present so I believe he would also do well in a home without other dogs. Bolt has separation that is mostly under control (meds), this is why I believe he needs a home with multiple people so he always has comfort, he will let you pet on him all day. He has been through multiple rounds of training so he knows basic commands and will follow them. His biggest struggle is being created by anyone other than myself so a home that allows him to free roam or with minimal boarding would have the easiest transition. Zero aggression, no matter the situation. Loves to swim, recall with distractions could use some work. Favorite toy types: benebone, rope toys, plush toys (to tear up), and soccer balls.

Story
Laney is a beautiful, resilient soul who has come such a long way since first arriving at Sunny Bear Rescue. After enduring heartbreaking abuse and being too afraid to even eat or drink, Laney was transferred to us in hopes that a different environment could help her begin to heal. Our kennel-free setup and patient, trauma-informed care allowed her the space and time she needed to slowly learn how to trust again. And while her journey isn’t over, Laney has made incredible progress. This sweet Labrador Retriever and Husky mix has been with us for over 250 days, and every single day has brought a small victory. When she first arrived, she wouldn’t come inside at all—not even during thunderstorms. Now, she chooses to come in during bad weather, when it’s cold, or when someone rings the doorbell. These moments, while small on the surface, are monumental for a dog like Laney who once cowered under tables just to feel safe. She even seeks out affection when she’s comfortable, and she absolutely loves gentle pets from someone who approaches her calmly and with kindness. Laney does best with other dogs and truly seems to draw comfort from their presence. She would thrive in a home with a calm, confident canine companion who can help her continue learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. Her ideal adopter will have a dog door and a securely fenced yard (4ft minimum) so Laney always has the option to move between inside and outside—something that’s essential for her sense of safety and mental well-being. She is house trained, microchipped, and fully vetted, and while we haven’t tried crating her due to her past trauma, she has shown no signs of aggression, only fear and caution. One very special part of Laney’s story is the custom dog house donated to her by The HOWS Project. This isn’t just any dog house—it’s a symbol of safety and stability for Laney. She will come with this house when she’s adopted, so she has something familiar and comforting to help with her transition into a new home. It’s a small but powerful part of what makes her feel secure in her world. Laney’s story is one of quiet courage. Her trauma may never fully disappear, but with love, patience, and the right home, she will continue to blossom into the happy, affectionate girl she’s always had the potential to be. She doesn't need a perfect person—just someone willing to meet her where she is and love her unconditionally. If you think you could be that person for Laney, we would love to introduce you to this incredibly special dog. Her heart is healing, and what she needs now is a forever home where she can continue that journey surrounded by love. Story
Meet Raven — the Life of the Paw-ty! Raven is a 10-month-old sparkle of energy and joy, a puppy who greets every day like it's her birthday. She's lively, goofy, affectionate, and always ready for her next adventure. Whether she’s zooming around the yard or trotting proudly on her walks, she brings big enthusiasm to everything she does. At home, Raven is a total rockstar. She's fully housebroken and sleeps a glorious eleven hours straight in her crate every night—yes, she's that good. She's also wonderfully food-motivated, which means training her is both easy and entertaining. Her eagerness to please (and eagerness to snack) makes her a quick learner. Raven absolutely loves other dogs and dives right into playtime with gusto. She plays with lots of energy and a little bit of puppy roughness, so a confident or equally playful doggy friend would make an excellent match for her. When it comes to car rides, she can be a bit nervous, but she’s improving and gaining confidence with each new outing. Most of all, Raven is looking for a home that enjoys movement, fun, and laughter. She's a medium- to high-energy pup who thrives on walks, adventures, and time spent being her happy, silly self. After she's burned off her wiggles, she’s more than happy to settle in for some cuddles and companionship. Raven is ready to bring excitement, sweetness, and plenty of joy to a family who'll cheer her on as she continues to grow. If you’re looking for a playful partner and a puppy with a huge heart, Raven just might be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Mini Zion! Mini Zion came to us as a stray and has already shown just how resilient he is. He arrived with a skin condition, but with medication he is clearing up nicely. His fur will continue to grow back with time and care. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines, all ready for his next chapter. Mini Zion can be a bit shy at first, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet and gentle personality really shines through. Still very much a puppy, Mini Zion loves his toys and enjoys going for walkies. He walks well on leash and is eager to explore the world around him. As a young pup, he will benefit from basic training to help him grow into a confident, well mannered companion. We are still getting to know how Mini Zion does with other dogs, so a dog meet and greet will be required. His compatibility with cats is currently unknown. Mini Zion is looking for a patient, loving home willing to give him the time and guidance he needs to continue blossoming into the amazing dog he is becoming.Interested in adopting?
