The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks. If pure joy had four legs and a tail, it would absolutely be Butter. We’re pretty sure his brain runs on “Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows” 24/7 — and honestly, it’s part of his charm. Butter is the definition of a happy-go-lucky dog. A little silly, a little clueless and 100% the kind of pup who wakes up every day believing something wonderful is about to happen. Butter didn’t grow up in the best circumstances, but you would never know it by the way he acts now. Since joining DDBBR at the beginning of the year, he has been nothing but a warm, golden Buttery light beaming at the chance to live free from the chain he use to be tethered to. Despite his cheerful spirit, Butter has only ever lived outdoors or in boarding — he’s never had a true family of his own. And he deserves that chance more than anything. The silver lining is that boarding has allowed us to really get to know him, and we can happily share that Butter enjoys the company of most other dogs! He’s still polishing up some of his social skills (we lovingly call him a “sweet himbo” around here), so a meet and greet with resident dogs is a must. Whoever opens their home to Butter won’t just be giving a dog a chance — they’ll be changing his entire world. Marco is a 5-year-old black lab mix with the sweetest, most loyal personality. We adopted him a little over a year ago after he had already been through a lot, including time on the street and multiple rehomings through no fault of his own. Despite this, he is gentle, affectionate, and deeply bonded to his people. He loves running and exploring but is also very mellow and perfectly happy lounging on the couch. Marco does have separation anxiety and does best in a home where someone is around most of the time. He does not tolerate crates or confinement and can become distressed when left alone for long periods. He is also protective of his home and is wary of unfamiliar visitors, so he would thrive in a quiet household with few new people or with experienced owners. An ideal home would be one where someone is home often, has a large property he can explore, and/or another dog to keep him company. He is an incredibly loving dog, and we hope to find him the stable home he deserves.

Laney is a beautiful, resilient soul who has come such a long way since first arriving at Sunny Bear Rescue. After enduring heartbreaking abuse and being too afraid to even eat or drink, Laney was transferred to us in hopes that a different environment could help her begin to heal. Our kennel-free setup and patient, trauma-informed care allowed her the space and time she needed to slowly learn how to trust again. And while her journey isn’t over, Laney has made incredible progress. This sweet Labrador Retriever and Husky mix has been with us for over 250 days, and every single day has brought a small victory. When she first arrived, she wouldn’t come inside at all—not even during thunderstorms. Now, she chooses to come in during bad weather, when it’s cold, or when someone rings the doorbell. These moments, while small on the surface, are monumental for a dog like Laney who once cowered under tables just to feel safe. She even seeks out affection when she’s comfortable, and she absolutely loves gentle pets from someone who approaches her calmly and with kindness. Laney does best with other dogs and truly seems to draw comfort from their presence. She would thrive in a home with a calm, confident canine companion who can help her continue learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. Her ideal adopter will have a dog door and a securely fenced yard (4ft minimum) so Laney always has the option to move between inside and outside—something that’s essential for her sense of safety and mental well-being. She is house trained, microchipped, and fully vetted, and while we haven’t tried crating her due to her past trauma, she has shown no signs of aggression, only fear and caution. One very special part of Laney’s story is the custom dog house donated to her by The HOWS Project. This isn’t just any dog house—it’s a symbol of safety and stability for Laney. She will come with this house when she’s adopted, so she has something familiar and comforting to help with her transition into a new home. It’s a small but powerful part of what makes her feel secure in her world. Laney’s story is one of quiet courage. Her trauma may never fully disappear, but with love, patience, and the right home, she will continue to blossom into the happy, affectionate girl she’s always had the potential to be. She doesn't need a perfect person—just someone willing to meet her where she is and love her unconditionally. 🐾 Meet Our Incoming Sweet Treats: Rocky Road, Phish Food, Moose Tracks & S’mores! 🍦🍫 Coming soon to Sunny Bear Rescue, we have four absolutely sweet and lovable little girls who are sure to melt your heart—just like their ice cream-inspired names! Rocky Road, Phish Food, Moose Tracks, and S’mores are making their way to us from a kill shelter, where we’re working hard to help keep the numbers down. These girls have had a rough start, but we know they are beautiful, loving pups who deserve a second chance at life. While we don’t know much about them yet, we do know they are Boxer and English Springer Spaniel mixes, approximately four months old. They are friendly with people, kids, and other dogs, but we’re not yet sure how they feel about cats. All four are underweight and will need some extra love and care to help them grow strong and healthy. They have short coats, no known allergies, and no bite history. As with most young rescues, we don’t yet know if they are house-trained—but we’ll learn more as soon as they arrive! These sweet girls are not yet spayed or microchipped, but that will be included in their adoption fee to ensure they are fully ready for their forever homes. Right now, we are looking for fosters to help ease their transition and keep our overall numbers at the rescue more manageable. Fostering provides them with a calm, safe space to adjust while we get to know their personalities better. We’ll be sharing updates on Rocky Road, Phish Food, Moose Tracks, and S’mores as soon as they arrive!
