Story
$50 Adoption fee! Why so low? Yakima County is spilling over with stray and dumped dogs. Our goal is to get dogs into the right homes ASAP so we can help other dogs in need. It's not about the money, it's about finding the right home for these pups! After spending almost a year in the Humane Society, Scooby transferred into our rescue. From day one, he fit right into our pack, playing nicely with dogs of all sizes and ages. He is one happy boy! If you want a couch cuddler, he is your guy. This loving boy would love a family to call his own, preferably with a big yard to run in and a few fur siblings to play with. This dog is located in Selah, WA. PetFinder allows multiple postings of the same animal as long as the postings are 100 miles apart from each other. This way we can reach far and wide to find the perfect home for this dog. If driving to Selah is difficult for you, we will do our best to find a rescue partner to meet you halfway. INTAKE DATE: 9/24/24 FROM: Yakima MICROCHIPPED: yes DOG’S NAME: Scooby BREED: lab/shepherd/pit AGE: 2 GENDER: M NEUTERED: yes SIZE: Large HEIGHT: 23 in WEIGHT: 75 lbs COAT: Short DESCRIPTION: black NOSE: Clear EYES: Clear EARS: Clean MISSING FUR: No EXPOSURE TO DOGS: 2 adult females, several adult males INTRODUCTIONS TO DOGS: curious, sniffing, tail wagging, ready to play, needs slower introduction to most males - stands guard just in case they aren’t nice to him. Once he realizes the male dog is friendly, Scooby becomes friendly and ready to play. INTERACTIONS WITH DOGS: cuddle on couch, likes to be with other dogs, play ball, wrestle, playful, seeks attention from other dogs FOSTER FRIENDS WITH: Marli and Sadie (my dogs), Bella, Griz, Little Man, Bo, Houdini, Macy, Elvis, Max EXPOSURE TO CATS: 2 adult female cats INTERACTIONS WITH CATS: possibly wants to eat them, overly curious, sniffing, tail wagging, some barking. I always recommend on leash, slow introductions to cats so behavior can be corrected right away. Scooby may be too hyper for cats. He’s way too excited to be near them so it may take some time to trust him around cats. EXPOSURE TO CHILDREN: teens RECOMMENDATION FOR CHILDREN: I think he would do well around kids of all ages, but I would use caution around very young children just because of his size and spatial awareness. HOUSETRAINED: Yes, Uses doggie door CRATE TRAINED: Unknown MARKS: Yes Outdoors TRAVELING IN A CAR: sits nicely, likes to look out window, would prefer to sit shotgun ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium Spends time both inside and out, outside fenced yard 6 foot chain-link LEASH TRAINED: Needs Work BEHAVIOR ON LEASH: pulls pretty hard at first but will calm down once initial excitement wears off, needs more training, using Cesar Millan leash training techniques COMMANDS: Sit, Lay down, Down, Up, Come Here RECALL: Pretty Good TRIM NAILS: Yes BRUSH: Yes BATHE: yes ANY AREA YOU CANNOT TOUCH: No BAD HABITS: None Known, Jumping (we encourage it at our house - that’s how we hug) ANXIETY ISSUES: None Known FOOD POSSESSION/AGGRESSION ISSUES: None, Fed together with other dogs TAKES TREATS: gentle/nicely PERSONALITY TRAITS: Friendly to Everyone, Likes to meet new dogs, Likes to be hugged, Gives kisses, Quiet, Seldom Barks, Offers belly to be scratched, Loves attention by everyone, Playful, Loving, Likes to be with other dogs, Can pick up and hold/hug, Cuddler, can kiss on face, can grab/ hold/ bear hug, likes to play in water ANY KNOWN MEDICAL ISSUES: none known INJURIES: none known VACCINATED: yes RABIES: yes DEWORMER: yes FLEA/TICK DATE: none PICS and VIDEOS (you may have to copy and paste into a new tab): https://youtube.com/shorts/Pd581ChaJNc?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/G5lEgk6SPOc?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/q0CXE_ulsrc?si=RnSUATSBqKQC3a2S https://youtube.com/shorts/2YU5CzHDjYM?si=3MVIJcpZe0IhmhXB https://youtube.com/shorts/Qfq2i0WnG7M?si=r2HP4hnrwjIDiTld https://youtube.com/shorts/84Iv5YeDZlw?si=fLFljZpqZXY8tI4H https://youtube.com/shorts/Ne9G8l723WE?si=bL2pLUXV8PJsghw0 https://www.youtube.com/shorts/dH-aR00tJhs https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2WCoYK43VLc https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2v_qClFWFFc Would you like to fill out an application? She’s a calm and loyal companion, happy to go for walks, play in the yard, or curl up beside you for a cozy nap. Though she may be cautious at first, her sweet personality and eagerness to please shine through once she feels secure.Rosie would thrive in a calm, patient home that can offer her time to adjust and build trust. She’s looking for a family that will understand her shy nature and help her come out of her shell. In return, Rosie will offer a lifetime of loyalty and affection to those who give her the love and space she needs. This pet is available for adoption at the Ellensburg Humane Society adoption center. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday.A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adop

Story
Meet Max, a five year old Lab mix weighing around 60 pounds.Max`s story is quite sad. Animal control was called to pick him up after his owners moved and the landlord called them. He was left tied up next to the house with no shelter and hardly any room to move The area around him was covered in feces and urine and so was he, we can`t imagine why someone would do that to him. When he came to us we immediately gave him a bath and noticed some sores, probably due to the filth he was forced to sit in. Max is a friendly goober with a good amount of energy. He likes treats but seems like no one really worked with him so he is still learning his mannered but responds well to correction. He deserves only the best home after what he has been through. This pet is available for adoption on 12/20/2024 at 4:59 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
