Story
Meet Ash! I’m a one-year-old, handsome, happy-go-lucky pup with the most charming ears you’ve ever seen and a whole lot of energy to match. I absolutely love life and thrive on being around people—my tail wags for everyone I meet, including kids and other dogs. Whether I’m chasing a ball at the park, going for a walk, or settling in for a cozy TV marathon on the couch, I’m always all in. I’m friendly, affectionate, and always ready for cuddles, belly rubs, or a well-earned nap by your side. I’m house-trained, crate-trained, and working on my basic commands, doing my best to be a well-mannered companion. With my playful antics and loving heart, there’s never a dull moment with me around, and I’m quickly mastering the art of cuddling—nothing makes me happier than curling up next to you after a fun day outdoors. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NAF/Dog

Story
If you’re a Lab lover… go ahead and get a little excited, because Jakey Baby is bringing all the best parts of that Lab magic. The sweetness, the gentle soul, the “just wants to be your buddy” energy, it’s all packed into this adorable boy. He’s got that lovable, easygoing vibe that makes Labs so special, with his own little twist of shy charm that just makes you root for him even more. Give him a minute, and you’ll see exactly what we mean… he’s the kind of dog you can’t help but fall for. Watch his video and fall in love with this cutie: https://youtu.be/j0DN9gmN1yM?si=s6RrJezv2_Ee-PIs Jakey Baby is believed to be a Lab mix approximately 6 months old and currently weighs 32lbs and is still growing. It’s hard to tell with just photos and through a screen, but Jakey has the most beautiful coat. It may look black but if you look closely, his coloring is more of a deep rich chocolate brown and it’s gorgeous! Jakey is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. One thing we already do know about him is that he has such a great disposition about him. He has a goofy and playful personality once he opens up, loves to play with toys, and is ridiculously cute. His light colored hazel eyes are something to talk about too. Just look at them! Who can resist those stunning eyes?! When it comes to other dogs, Jakey has the sweetest little heart and truly wants to be part of the group, he just needs a bit of reassurance at first. You’ll often see him choosing to stay near the other dogs, curious about what they’re doing and wanting to be included, but he can feel a little unsure when meeting new friends right away. When he’s feeling nervous, he may show his cute little teefers, tuck his tail, or let out a tiny baby bark, which is simply his way of saying he needs a moment to figure things out. It’s all part of him learning that new doggy friends can be safe and fun. The good news is that his interest in other dogs is very much there. He clearly wants to be around them and lights up when he’s comfortable enough to join in. With gentle introductions and kind, patient dog companions, he begins to relax and show more of his playful, happy side. He’s still building confidence and discovering that making new friends can be a wonderful thing. Because of this, Jakey would do best with a calm, friendly dog who has good social manners and a kind, reassuring personality. A dog who is happy to invite him to play, but also respectful enough to give him little breaks when he needs them, would be a wonderful match. With the right canine buddy and a supportive home, we believe his confidence will continue to blossom and he’ll grow into a happy little member of the pack. Once he is comfortable with a new doggy friend, he has a very typical puppy-like play style. It’s bouncy, a little mouthy, with some fun wrestling and games of chase added into the mix. He would also be just as happy being your one and only fur baby too. Jakey also met our house cat Biggie and handled the introduction beautifully. He was respectful and appropriate, did not chase Biggie, and wasn’t bothered by typical cat behavior. Biggie also felt comfortable around him. We do not know if he has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing him with one. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for him to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! For his age, Jakey is already so well behaved and seems to have wonderful house manners. He’s working on mastering his leash skills and already knows a few basic commands like sit, takes treats gently, and is eager to please. The second a treat is involved, he’s all ears, eyes, and nose! Jakey has mastered “sit” so well that he’ll automatically sit before you even ask. How impressive is that?! He’s a smart boy who genuinely enjoys learning, which makes training something you’ll both have fun with. Jakey is also crate trained (he might need a tiny booty nudge to get all the way in LOL, but once he’s in, he’s great). From what we’ve seen so far, he also appears to be potty trained. He may just need a little guidance in a new home, but he’ll pick it up quickly. Jakey would thrive in a home with a backyard where he can romp around, stretch his legs, play with his toys, and relax in the sun. He doesn’t need much, just a long walk to the park, a place where he can play fetch, or even some in-home mental stimulation puzzles. He would love that too. Jakey would thrive in a home with a backyard where he can romp around, stretch his legs, play with his toys, and relax in the sun. He doesn’t need much, just a long walk to the park, a place where he can play fetch, or even some in-home mental stimulation puzzles. He would love that too. Jakey is ready to find his people, and we have a feeling whoever scoops him up is going to be pretty obsessed (fair warning). He’s got that perfect mix of sweet, silly, and “just happy to be here,” and the more you get to know him, the more you’re going to fall for him. If you’re looking for a best friend to grow with, laugh with, and share all the little everyday moments with, Jakey is absolutely your guy. Go ahead and apply… we promise you’re going to be so glad you did. We are willing to test Jakey Baby with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen!
