Story
Born 9/12/22, Ruger is a male Labrador Retriever mix who is described as a gentle giant who weighs approximately 84 lbs. but thinks he's a 10 lb. lap dog! He loves plushies and according to his foster mom, he has the most gentlemanly manners as a house guest, he never leaves the seat up and goes outside every time 😉 He is well socialized and loves other dogs, however, some dogs can be intimidated by his size. Cats are unknown. His preferred forever home will have a secure 6 foot fence and a family committed to training him so he can become the best dog he can be. Due to his size, we recommend if there are kids in the home, over the age of 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Born February 2020, Eclipse is a male Lab mix who was born blind with a purely cosmetic cleft palate. He has no issues eating, drinking or getting around. Eclipse is going to make some family a great companion - he loves people and especially kids. Eclipse's favorite things are snuggling up right beside his person and accepting some much wanted belly rubs! He's currently 45 lbs. and is still growing. He does best with dogs at least his size and kids over the age of 8. Cats are unknown. Eclipse is fully vaccinated, neutered and micro chipped. We know that very special person or family is out there for Eclipse because he has a whole lotta life to live! He may be special needs (trust us, he doesn't know it!), however like any other puppy he just wants to have fun and show unconditional love and devotion to his family. A securely fenced yard is a must. Applications can be accessed at www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Oh Mr. Mini Vinni, what can we say except he’s a thief of hearts!! Vinnie was born approximately February 6, 2023 and according to his DNA results he’s a serious mixed breed - mostly of the herding kind. Vinnie’s foster mom takes him with her on errands and for coffee and everyone who meets Vinnie is charmed by him. He’s very loving, playful, smart and adventurous. He’s potty trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. Vinnie gets along with most other dogs - he currently lives with several - but he can be selective of his canine companions. Vinnie gets a bit protective over his food so his foster mom feeds him in a crate. Vinnie often follows his nose and so a securely fenced yard, and if there are kids in the home, we recommend they be over the age of 10, he’s not a fan of younger, louder and quick moving littles. Applications for Vinnie can be found at: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
This curly boy is looking for love in all the wrong places, could you be the right one? This is big ol’ puppy is looking for an active home where he will be spoiled and taught how to be the good-est boy. Rocky is a poodle mix, and will need regular grooming maintenance every 4 to 8 weeks, please do not apply if you’re unable to provide such grooming needs. HISTORY Rocky's estimated DOB is August 5, 2025. He was surrendered to us Mid-December at 4 months old. Rocky was removed from a home where he was being beat up by the other dog in his home, and we were asked to help. The family who took him in has tried to rehome him privately, but he wasn’t a good fit for a home with chickens. They recognize he is a big commitment between grooming needs and puppy behaviors, and they felt uncomfortable rehoming him properly without assistance. During his time in a trial home, Rocky ate several chickens, and despite their efforts to stop this behavior, he was persistent. For this reason, Rocky will not be going to a home with livestock or cats. Rocky is located in Pasco in Eastern Washington. We advertise our dogs in a variety of locations in an effort to improve their chances of finding great homes. We can assure you, this pup is well worth a road trip! However, if necessary we will arrange transport to bring him to an approved adoptive home within the Pacific Northwest. SOCIALIZATION Rocky is a social puppy who enjoys playing with other dogs. He has only been around feral cats outdoors, and he chases them off. His ideal home would be one without cats or small animals. He doesn’t have an issue with a single person or dog he has met. In his first home, the resident adult dog picked on him a lot, but he doesn’t seem to have been affected by it that we have seen. He is playful, social, and incredibly loving. Rocky’s ideal home would be one where he is challenged. He needs someone who is going to keep him active, both physically and mentally! He is an incredibly smart puppy, but he’s looking for love in all the wrong places. If you can provide Rocky with a daily walks, mental enrichment, affection, regular grooming requirements, and structure, please do not hesitate to apply. He is currently being housed with a few small dogs. The household does not have cats, but he chases the outdoor stray and feral cats when he sees them. He has been fantastic with children, and other dogs. GENERAL TEMPERAMENT AND BEHAVIOR Rocky isn’t picky about the humans in his forever home, he just asks you have no small animals or livestock. He is just a young pup learning about the world around him, he needs a confident and affectionate handler that will teach him what’s expected and keep his mind and body active. Rocky is a high energy puppy, and need someone who will keep up with him every day. It’s not all about hiking and running though, mental stimulation is vital to keeping this boy well exercised. TRAINING Rocky is working on potty and crate training. He is an energetic boy still learning that all 4 paws stay on the ground. Rocky is just a baby, he is young and eager to learn how to be a good family dog. He'd love you to take him to school so he can learn ALL the skills he needs to be his best self. This would be beneficial for you as his pet parent(s) as well so that you can learn to communicate effectively with him and teach him to be confident. He is still working on potty training. It's important to remember: Rocky is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! This little boy is just getting started - he has sharp nails and needle teeth and loves to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as he's concerned, anything and everything is for play. He still has everything to learn about being a civilized member of a mainly human family. He will trip you up, piddle on your rug, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt Rocky unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise him right! HEALTH STATUS General info He is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and dewormed. He will be schedule for his neutering soon and he appears to be in good health. Once full grown, he will likely be somewhere in the 60+ lbs. range. ADOPTION The adoption fee for Rocky is $425. For more pictures of Rocky, see his Facebook album at https://www.facebook.com/share/1CQjG12p5p/?mibextid=wwXIfr To apply to adopt Rocky, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA-A-75, or email HearthfireART@gmail.com and request an adoption application form. Story
Meet Molly, a three-year-old Lab/Husky mix weighing around 70 pounds.Molly might have been on the run for a week, but now that she’s safe, she’s making up for lost time with tail wags and playtime galore! This friendly, outgoing girl is full of energy and affection—and she’s ready to find a home where she can keep learning, growing, and having fun.Molly gets along well with other dogs and is always up for a game or a romp in the yard. She’s a happy, social pup who loves people, but she’s still learning her manners—she can be a bit mouthy when excited, so she’s currently working on the “off” command and would do best in a home without young kids for now (though that could change as she continues to learn!).She’s got a big heart, a big personality, and so much love to give. If you’re looking for a joyful pup who’s eager to be your best friend—and don’t mind helping her polish her manners—Molly might just be your perfect match. This pet is available for adoption on 7/31/2025 at 1:46 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
