Story
Meet Monte, a three and a half month old Lab mix weighing around 30 pounds.Monte is a resilient and lovable pup who`s ready to find his forever home! He came to us with bite wounds on his legs, but thanks to lots of TLC and Monte`s strong spirit, he’s healed beautifully and hasn’t let the past hold him back one bit. This sweet boy is all heart — friendly, affectionate, and absolutely adores people. Monte is also a curious explorer and can`t resist a squeaky toy! Whether it`s playtime or cuddle time, he’s all in. Monte is still growing and will be a large dog when fully grown, so he’s looking for a family ready to give him plenty of space, love, and adventure. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and even bigger paws, Monte might just be your perfect match! Please remember that Monte is a puppy and puppy behavior comes with the package. They need basic training and potty training along with being provided chew toys to encourage proper chewing habits. All puppies require socializing from a young age to help them become the best, most well-rounded dog they can be.This pet is available for adoption on 5/23/2025 at 11:34 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Maximus, a five year old Lab mix weighing around 60 pounds.Maximus` story is quite sad. Animal control was called to pick him up after his owners moved and the landlord called them. He was left tied up next to the house with no shelter and hardly any room to move The area around him was covered in feces and urine and so was he, we can`t imagine why someone would do that to him. When he came to us we immediately gave him a bath and noticed some sores, probably due to the filth he was forced to sit in. He likes treats but seems like no one really worked with him so he is still learning his manners but responds well to correction. He can be a bit mouthy and may do best in a home with no young kids for now but with a bit of training that could definitely change. Speaking of training, we had a local trainer meet him and she wants to help him put his best paw forward so she is offering two free training sessions to his adopter! Maximus walks well on his leash and is so much fun. He deserves only the best home after what he has been through and we hope to find it for him. Story
Meet Nami, a three and a half year old Lab/Shepherd mix weighing 91 pounds. Nami was adopted from us a year and a half ago and recently returned because she was too active for them and wasn`t trained. This girl is the sweetest, most friendly goober and we adore her. She has been in a home with other dogs and cats but shows a little too much interest in chickens. This girl knows the command `sit` and `down`, she is such a good girl. Nami likes to play with toys but is really all about the people and is good with everyone, we think she would be a fantastic family dog. Story
This snuggly girl loves squeaky toys and cuddles. She's energetic and playful when playtime is happening, but she also knows how to chill. Asuna was adopted as a young puppy, along with her litter mate Hermione (also available for adoption). About a year later their adopter developed extensive medical issues and could no longer care for them. They have been in our care in a foster home since December 2023. With people she knows, Asuna is very affectionate. She's comfortable with calm older children, but she doesn't tolerate chaos well, so is not a fit for a family with very young children. With strangers she tends to be shy, but she'll warm up if they're gentle and patient. She is very attached to Hermione, but both dogs would probably do best if adopted separately. Asuna ghets on well with most of the other dogs in her foster home, but can be reactive with unfamiliar dogs, especially if they're pushy. She would probably do best in a home with another calm, friendly dog who can show her how to be. She is not safe with cats or other small prey animals. This sweet girl tends to be anxious, and will do best in a home where she has canine or human company, but she copes well with separatioan when her human needs to leave home without her. She needs ongoing help building her confidence and learning to be comfortable with strangers and in unfamiliar places. However, she loves going for walks and would be a great companion for a casual hiker. And she loves car rides! She's pretty laid-back and enjoys her kick-back-and-do-nothing time - which is often also her chewing time; this girl LOVES a good chew! But she also has spurts of energy when she runs crazy zoomies and eagerly engages in play, especially with squeaky toys, ropes and kongs. She's getting the hang of fetch, and loves to play tag with humans or dogs. Mostly, however, she really just wants to be with her special person. She's super snuggly, and always up for a belly rub. Asuna needs a secure backyard. She won't jump a fence, but would push through a weakness in a fence or might try to dig out if she's alone and worried. Her house manners: she's quiet and rarely barks, and is generally polite. She is house-trained and crate-trained, and she wants to please so quickly picks up on her human's routines and expectations. She already knows some basic obedience commands, walks well on a leash, and has fairly good recall, and she'd love to share her life with someone who is interested in taking her to school and teaching her new things, as that would help build her confident. She is very teachable, motivated by both treats and praise. Due to neglect Asuna was in poor condition when we took her in, but she is now healthy and feeling good about life. She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated up to date, and has been treated for internal and external parasites.

Story
Meet Butters Meet Butters – The Energetic and Loving Labrador! Butters is a playful, high-energy dog who’s always ready for action! He loves running, playing, and especially car rides. While Butters is friendly with the people and animals he knows, he has some behaviors that need attention due to a lack of early training. His excitement can sometimes make him a bit overwhelming, so he would thrive in a home with an experienced owner who’s ready to provide some structured training. Butters can be strong on the leash and has some work to do with basic commands like recall. With patience and consistency, Butters will become the well-behaved companion you’ve been looking for. He would do best in a home with a secure yard where he can safely play and get his energy out, as he’s a big, strong dog with a lot of love to give. Fun Facts: * Butters is a car ride enthusiast – he loves to go for drives and explore new places! * His energy and playful nature make him an ideal companion for an active family who enjoys outdoor activities. What Butters Needs: Butters requires a secure, fenced yard for safe play, as his large size and strength mean he can be a handful at times. He’s looking for a family who can help him work on leash training and recall, and who’s committed to providing him with the exercise and structure he needs. With time and patience, Butters will grow into the well-mannered, loyal companion he’s meant to be. If you’re an experienced dog owner with a love for energetic pups and are ready to put in the training work, Butters will be your loyal, fun-loving companion for years to come! To adopt Butters please visit our Linktree to complete an adoption application form. His adoption fee is $375.
