MEET APOLLO…..a stunning, 7 yr old (DOB October, 2018), 15 lb, tan, Lhasa Apso X, who was given up and brought to the Chesterfield Shelter because his family lost their housing during government shut down and were evicted! They provided all positive info about him, and it’s clear they loved him dearly. However, the first thing they wrote was that he was purchased at a pet store as a “mini Shih Tzu.” WRONG!!! This boy may not be 100% Lhasa (we never promote as purebred ), but he looks more like a Lhasa than a Shih Tzu and he isn’t a “mini” — he’s just the right size.
Apollo was a shut down when he arrived; he didn’t understand where his people had gone. Now, when I come home, he gets really excited and circles to express his glee! He came to us with a horrible case of kennel cough, (for 3 weeks) and a double eye infection. He took his meds like a champ, but he did not enjoy having drops put in his eyes because they sting and he let us know he didn’t like it! That is the only time he has snapped. But, for that reason we think he would be better off without children. He was great with the ointment and he’s now all better. He does have very slight dry eye in one eye but it seems to be resolving itself. He gives very gentle kisses to let you know he loves you anyway! If you put him in your arms and love him….he’s all yours. We believe a family who understands the Lhasa personality will adore Apollo, who is a lover, not a fighter!
Apollo is a good eater! He will let you know if he feels like being picky, which isn’t often….but there is no guessing with him! He loves to be loved and really needs extra TLC right now, which he is getting. Seems to be potty trained, but we never guarantee. Will you let Apollo light up your heart and life…and will you light up his?

Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets.
Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!
