Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET THE ONE AND ONLY CHARLI GIRL…..a very special LHH ShiLhasa Doodle! We are calling her that because we aren’t really sure what this 16 lb, gray/black, 1.5-2 yr old, LHH version of a doodle is!! What we can tell you is she came from the Palmdale Shelter, where she was absolutely petrified! They did a behavior assessment on her because she barricaded herself in a corner of the kennel and lifted her lip when they tried to get close. Well….she had three foxtails in one ear, two in the other and loads and loads of goop in her ears. CAN YOU SAY PAIN? Once out of the shelter, this little lady almost immediately blossomed into the sweetest dog on the planet! It took us three days to teach her how to walk on a leash (obviously never walked before), jerking so hard we thought she was going to choke herself. NOW? She not only walks but runs, gallops up and down the stairs and you would never know she just learned how to walk!! CharliGirl is not only sweet, she is very smart and wants to please. We still haven’t heard her bark…and yes, we did notice that she does look a little like a Gorilla, but calling her monkey would have been mean 🙁 When you greet her in the morning, she acts a little like a spastic puppy, ready for her walk…breakfast and to greet the world with kisses and love! CharliGirl is extremely friendly with everyone, kissing other dogs when she greets them and really has good manners. She is very human oriented so we believe the best home would have kids, possibly (but not mandatory) another young, playful dog and mostly a family who is around a lot. She doesn’t have separation anxiety, but she is such a fun dog, she could go everywhere with you and just be the best companion ever. She even hugs you by wrapping her legs around your arm! She’s not quite sure what toys are about, but she is learning! CharliGirl is a special lady and we want her to go to a wonderful home. Might that be with you?? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting! Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET MS. POPPY….a very sweet, very unique looking (one eye with black eyelashes and the other with white!), 3 yr old, white/gray, 12 lb girl who looks like a Lhasa/Maltese mix. It’s difficult to tell with her current haircut (shaved before we got her), so her breed is still a bit of a mystery? This poor baby was hit by a car and left on the side of the road 🙁 A good Samaritan saw the accident, called Animal Control and got her to the Harbor Animal Shelter. They sent out a rescue blast and we answered the call! Poppy has a broken pelvis, but she is healing well and will likely be available by May 10-17, when she is 100% healed (expected to make a full recovery). It’s difficult to evaluate Poppy’s personality, since she is mostly getting cage rest, but we can tell you with 100% certainty that once this girl is out of her crate nothing will stop her! Even with a pelvis that isn’t completely healed, she is doing her best to walk, even run, if we don’t stop her! She gives lots of kisses and wants to play, play, play. She does not like being left alone in her crate and she will let you know! Otherwise, she seems quiet and happy. She loves other dogs and definitely should have one of her own! Because of her activity level, we don’t think Poppy would be well suited for a senior home. She’d love to become a part of an active family, with another dog, or an individual who wants a full time companion to spoil and love. Does that sound like you? Apply now, she won’t last long! Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET BRONCO…. This handsome, 15 lb, tricolored, 4 year old Lhasa/Shih Tzu/Poodle mix is a wonderful combination of sweetness and opinions! We are working with 4 Paws Kiddo Rescue to make sure he gets the ideal home. We have had Bronco for some time now, as he needs a home that will love him to life….he has a few quirks easily workable if you set him up from the start. He comes with a trainer to help whomever adopts him do that right! Bronco was dumped in the shelter after a bite incident in his former home. We don’t know how this happened, but we know that he doesn’t like being heavy handled. Since this incident, we have opted to take Bronco to training to desensitize any negative behavior. He was evaluated and has fear aggression with strangers. Once he respects you, he is a wonderful dog. As you can tell by the video, Bronco can be a very loving, happy dog. He just needs to respect you as his leader. He should go to a home without kids and a savvy/experienced family who have dealt with “opinionated” dogs. I can say that he is a wonderful dog and very loving and obedient once he knows the rules! And he is very smart. Bronco needs a home that will give him parameters and love him to life. With guidance (and he comes with a trainer) he will be that dog you are looking for. Plays like a maniac with toys and even fetches … follows you everywhere and will prove you’re a good cook! He eats like it’s the first time he’s seen food — blink, it’s gone! Before training, he pulled on the leash and was easily distracted by buses and trucks on the street. He has learned how to be a gentleman on walks, takes treats “gently” and minds the rules you set for him!! If you scold him, he will give you side eye for a moment and wait to hear “ok, now good boy” and he’s over it. Bronco sits quietly while you work (or squeaking a toy to remind you he is there)! If you are not at home and you are in an apartment/condo, he will bark voraciously when anyone walks by, but then he is quiet again. He also responds to “leave it” and will be quiet. He does NOT have separation anxiety and gets along great with other dogs once introduced. To keep him healthy — Bronco really needs a 2 mile walk daily or exercised to get his playfulness in check! Bronco could be an only dog if his people work from home and he isn’t alone much. His potty training skills are good — but no guarantees. All in all…Bronco is a stallion! We love him and will only let him go to the perfect, experienced home — for him and for you!! Interested? He’s the best. Bronco will not be attending our adoption events; he can be seen by appointment only by approved applicants. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria.
