Story
Looks like: Lhasa Apso mix Female, 12 years old (estimated), 19 pounds Lilly is proof that age is just a number and that you can maintain the most beautiful and fluffy curls even if you are super inquisitive and adventurous. This gorgeous Lady loves to be out and about, explore, and go on long walks, taking her time to sniff and smell the latest "pee-mail." She walks nicely on leash and is friendly with humans of all ages and dogs of all sizes. At her foster home, she chases the cat and may be better off in a feline-free home. Most of all, this laid-back girl relishes snoozing on the couch and doing her own thing, interspersed with occasional pets and cuddles. When home alone, she is well-behaved and waits patiently for her company to return. Lilly is very smart, gentle, and confident, and will easily adjust to new circumstances and adventures. Miss Lilly is fully house-trained, but she needs to eat a special diet to help with urinary care and, although she loves food, she is limited in what she is allowed to eat. With only a couple of teeth left, she eats soft food only. This sweetheart is eager to join you on explorations and car rides, and be your faithful companion all day, every day! Lilly was surrendered to Santa Cruz County Animal Services because of her medical needs that need a little extra TLC.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Piper is an 8 year old Lhasa Apso mix who was rescued from a local overflowing shelter. This gal came right to the front of her enclosure with a wag in her tail and soulful eyes, so we absolutely couldn’t say no to saving her! She is the perfect package all wrapped up with an adorable underbite! Piper has a gorgeous non-shedding coat which means she will require regular grooming. She is an option for those with allergies or those who just want less hair around the house.    Below is a note from Piper’s foster.  “Piper is a goofy, friendly, loving and energetic dog who has been an absolute joy since day one! She has an adorable underbite which gives her a perpetual smile, making it hard to resist giving her anything and everything she desires! She is adventurous in her quest to sniff all the good smells in the world but still likes to end her day curled up in a soft dog bed. She is playful and will happily chase after her toys, but when she wants a break she will nudge her head into your hand for endless pets. She is an absolutely perfect gal who will be a fabulous addition to any home!  Piper starts her day at 7 AM and goes outside for a potty break. She has breakfast around 8:30 AM and then spends her days snoozing on soft blankets and beds around the house. She gets an afternoon walk and she loves sniffing her way through the neighborhood. After her walk, she spends some time playing with her foster home before she has dinner at 6 PM. In the evening, she cuddles with us before heading to bed around 9 AM.  Piper gets along well with other dogs when she meets off-leash. She needs a slow introduction to new people and reacts best to people who are willing to work through her Napoleon complex. Once she gets to know her people, she will be nothing but loving forever. Piper would do best in a home where there is less chaos, so older kids only.”   Piper needs a home with prior experience so she can best thrive. She would do best with a home ready to continue her training and exposure to the world. Kids should be over the age of 15.  May 1, 2024, 9:42 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $800   April is a 3 year old Lhasa Apso x Poodle mix who is ready for May flowers! April was surrendered to the shelter when her former home decided they no longer wanted her. She was a very matted and dirty gal when we scooped her up, but after a long bath and a haircut, she’s a new dog! April is much happier now without that negativity surrounding her and she’s ready for her happily ever after. April will require regular grooming and we expect interested homes to have a plan for coat maintenance. April has a non-shedding coat and is an option for those with allergies or who want less hair around the house.    April is a sweet and loving gal with a heart of gold. She’s the kind of dog who isn’t in your face like some, but more of the sit back and wait her turn for affection. However, she ADORES pats and scratches and will happily soak up any and all love you have for her. April is happiest when she can be with her people and would be a perfect work from home companion. If you pull up a chair, she will be an amazing coworker. She is slowly learning that the world is full of good smells and treats and has been gaining confidence every day alongside her foster siblings. We know that April has so much to give the world and we can’t wait to see her thrive! April is fully house trained and knows how to take herself out to potty. If you want a gal who is up for a lifetime of quiet love and constant comfort, you’ve found that with April!  April starts her morning at 7:30 AM with a trip outside for potty before she comes inside for her morning meal. After she eats, she spends her morning sitting with her foster parents as they start their day and get some work done. She also loves sniffing around the yard as long as she can keep an eye on her people. In the afternoon, April gets a short walk where she happily sniffs around the neighborhood. When she comes home, she takes a well-deserved nap. It’s hard work being a cute dog, we know! April has open access to the yard and goes outside to potty when she needs to. At around 6 PM, April has dinner followed by some light playtime. She ends her day on the couch getting cuddles before she goes out for one last potty and then bed.  April gets along with other dogs, but is a bit too low energy for a crazy puppy. She would do well with a chill companion to coexist with. April likes people once she gets to know them and will blossom with time and patience. April is figuring out how to walk on a leash still, but she is very smart and eager to please. April likes soft toys and she loves chew toys. We know April will be the perfect buddy for the home lucky enough to take her home!     April is an option for those with prior dog experience, even if that experience is less recent. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.May 1, 2024, 9:42 pm
