This little guy is full of charm, always up for some time in the play yard, and never says no to attention from his favorite volunteers. He’s friendly, social, and has a big personality packed into a compact body. Banjo’s story hasn’t been an easy one. After being found on the streets and fully vetted by our team, we searched for his owners for months. Just as he was about to be adopted, his previous owners came forward. Sadly, a year later, Banjo was found on the streets again, and we were called to take him back into our care. His former owners, currently without stable housing, agreed it was best that Banjo find a safe, secure forever home. Due to past food insecurity, Banjo can be food-aggressive with other dogs. He’s shown no aggression toward people and does well with small dogs, but may be a bit pushy with larger ones. With a bit of patience and structure, Banjo has all the potential to thrive. Banjo is now safe, healthy, and ready for a brighter future. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion who’s ready to be truly home for good, Banjo could be your perfect match. This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225. Story
Sally Owens, if you get it, you get it. Sally is one of local shelter pulls after being found as a stray. It is very obvious that at one time she lived in a home and enjoyed all the comfort things it has to offer. We don't know how she ended up in a shelter, but we do know that she deserves a home to call her own and we want nothing more than to find it. Sally is estimated to be between 6-7 years old. She has a little bit of vision impairment but definitely doesn't at like that so we're assuming it's with older age. She is currently on some eye drops to help ensure that she doesn't have dry eyes but thankfully so far a recommended OFC cost friendly option has done the trick. As we are sure they were really painful at first, she does get a little defensive of putting in the eye drops so she requires the patience of someone willing to create a routine and work with her. I would hate if someone was sticking something in my eyes also, I guess. She is corky and full of personality. She is the kind of dog that minds her own, but you can't help but get a good laugh out of her. She enjoys a good bed, or multiple, she isn't picky but is spoiled. She is great after a couple of minutes of dramatically dragging her paw on the bars in her crate. She is working on and doing well with potty training and though when put into her forever home there will be a transition period, she can stand a normal work day of 8 hours. She is great on walks and gets so excited that she tries to hold her own leash from time to time. Though she doesn't require long walks or extra activity, she would love a minimum for happiness. Sally is located in the Chicagoland area and accepting applications for residents within 3 hours of Chicago. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org. Story
Bobbie is an outside adoption, we are helping a family rehome their precious little dog. But, we will be screening potential families, so please use our application at sparrowdogs.com. Check out the DNA on this precious pooch!! Bobbie is the one of a kind, well, we are sure there are many more out there but I am pretty sure she is the cutest one ever. These breeds have been bred together deliberately, maybe not in Bobbie's case, she could be an ooops. But, it has been known to mix the Shih Tzu type with a bully breed. And there you have it. If someone ask you what breed of dog you have you can say you have a genuine Bull-Sh*tz!! Bobbie is an adorable and happy little dog that is looking for a forever family. She is very much loved by her "Mom", but do to life changes she feels it is best to find Bobbie a home where someone is home more often. Bobbie was adopted to be a companion especially for the husband, but sadly he passed in December, so Bobbie spends more time alone due to Mom's work schedule. We are told Bobbie is a loving girl, she is very happy and affectionate. She loves her toys, loves to play, but her very favorite pastime is snuggling with her favorite person. She is great with kids if they are a bit older and know how to behave around a dog. Bobbie is also housebroken, walks well on a leash and is a little lady. Her DNA was done and she is a very unique mix. She is part Lhasa, Shih tzu and bully breeds. But, she is on the smaller size, just around 20 pounds and is very low shedding. Bobbie is fully vetted.
