Story
Hope is a little Maltese with a big heartand a past we can only imagine. At just 34 years old and only 5 pounds Hope has already been through more than any dog should. We dont know what her life was like before rescue, but when she arrived, her left eye was horribly infected and damaged so it had to be removed. She was spayed and had her teeth cleaned as well and has been deemed a healthy girl ! Thankfully, that chapter is behind her now. She has healed beautifully and is finally ready for the part of her story she has always deserved: a loving family of her own. Hope will need a patient, understanding home where she can learn that she is safe, cherished, and truly loved. She enjoys having her head and belly rubbed, although when shes had enough, shell simply wander off and find a quiet place to relax. She would be happy as your one and only, or with another small, gentle dog. Large dogs make her uncomfortable. Shes frightened by loud noises like vacuums, thunder, and lightning, and shes still learning that the world doesnt have to be scary. She uses potty pads and will also go outside when she has a securely fenced area. Leash walking is new to herright now, she freezesbut her foster family is patiently working with her. Shes also learning sit and doing wonderfully! And if you happen to have a tasty treat? Well Hope is VERY food motivated. Give her something that smells delicious and shell put on an entire little song and dance to convince you she deserves it. Hope doesnt need a perfect family. She needs a patient one. A family willing to show her, day by day, that gentle hands, soft voices, belly rubs, warm beds, and unconditional love are what life is supposed to feel like. She has already survived the hard part. Now she just needs someone to help her discover how beautiful life can be. Could you be Hopes forever?
