Story
Well, Katya is still growing. As a typical Maine Coon she will grow bigger for two more years. She is not, however, a typical Maine Coon. With her long ear tufts and extravagant body she is very like a group of 7 huge Maine Coons from Russia that I fostered four years ago. In her photos she looks bigger than she is but she is growing very large ( look at her paws) and she is already huge in energy and personality.
Katya is a lot of cat. She clearly thinks she was born to rule continents and kingdoms. Look at her cover photo you can see how smart she is. She is hard to photograph because she is constantly moving - usually towards the photographer for asking for pets. Katya is very affectionate and loves humans but her humans need be cat savvy and pay attention. She is full of energy and rambunctiousness. She has been cooped up in too small an area for way too long and has a pent up need for space and play and running and jumping. She has been goodnatured about it but it is getting to be too long. She needs her home and humans. Do you have a spacious home to house her beauty and energy?
Part of her trouble is she came into foster with her five beautiful kittens.
( They are known as The Breakfast Kittens: Silver Dollar Pancake, Granola, Omelet, Oatmeal and Pumpernickel.) Mommy cats don't like the company of other cats at all. Katya, now spayed, still doesn't like other cats so it is hard to let her out to run about since other cats are present. She loves to roll around upside down and see if you are watching how cute she is. She is a flirt. She loves to lick and groom you. She can look stern and very wild. She loves to play and be silly. She is headstrong. She is very affectionate. She is a handful. You can see that she looks quite different in each picture. Such a fascinating kitty.
Katya needs an experienced cat person, or family, who can live up to the challenge of out thinking her - or keeping up with her anyway. To fall in love with Katya is to make a life style choice that will take a lot of time and effort. This is not a sleep on the couch kitty. Do you want a kitty partner who is very exciting, smart and loyal ? Katya needs a big spacious home with no other resident cats or small children. We don't know how she is with dogs but it is a pretty likely that she would be in charge. They may be great playmates for her.
Some family will be so lucky to have her company.
Katya eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
Katya is spayed, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
She is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Katya please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!
Purebreds Plus cat Rescue (purebredsplus.org), serving Northern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, Oregon, and Northern Nevada, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of purebred cats, kittens and other exceptional felines. We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit rescue group. Most of our beautiful felines come from Northern California Animal Shelters. One of our goals is to keep purebred cats from ever ending up in a shelter. We are happy to help you if you need to rehome your purebred cat. Often, we can offer advice if your cat is having behavioral problems, and you may end up keeping the cat. We do NOT ship cats. We will place cats out of area but you must arrange to come and meet your new friend in person.
